  1. I've been wanting to pick up a Curado 50e to add to balance out the chronarch, core and scorpion, but have seen the high prices now so I haven't found one yet. I bought my chronarch 50e on clearance last year for $125.
  2. You should be able to get a st croix ltb on sale for that or possibly less if you time a rebate with a coupon or sale at gander mountain. I'd wait and get the ltb 68mxf. It's my favorite spinning rod, and I don't leave home without it
  3. I was looking for a used 842glx, and found a good deal on a used 842 nrx which should be here tomorrow.
  4. The ethos is a good rod and if you can wait a few weeks academy typically has a rod riot every year and the ethos rods are only $39
  5. What's the low end of the weight rating on the 842 glx, and what is the lightest you've thrown. The 842 would be a good fit to finish the mbr trio with the 843 and 844. I'm curious what the sweet spot for that rid is
  6. What handle is that?
  7. I recently traded a casting rod for a spinning rod and now have a core 50 without a home. I briefly considered selling it, but figured it would be wiser to get a new rod instead. I currently have a St Croix 68mxf, 7mm and 7mf, a loomis 843, 844, and 853, and a dobyns 735. I'm looking for something slightly lighter than the croix 68mxf to use primarily for small moving baits. I'm considering the croix mlxf, loomis 842 or a dobyns 702. I'm looking to get opinions from people that have used those and how they compare to the croix 68mxf.
  8. Dobyns rods are regularly on sale for 20%+ off at all of the holiday sales. Obviously there is plenty of markup in their price structure. I'm surprised they didn't exchange it and resell it on their refurbished site
  9. Very impressive day by clunn. I hope he can hold on and pull out the win tomorrow
  10. I think he excels at MLF because he has no spectator boats. At elite events he's got a huge army of boats following him around, which can't help.
  11. I'd look at either st croix or dobyns at that price range. Keep an eye out for sales. Both rods are typically include in holiday sales, and St croix has a lot of sales and rebate offers through gander mountain.
  12. Agree with the other commend about the croix ltb 68mxf. It's the only spinning rod I typically carry with me.
  13. I normally do the swivel method when I spool a spinning reel. Run the line through a rag with kvd l&l while reeling.
  14. I got my reel last night. Unfortunately I'm boarding a flight for a 2 week trip for work, so I won't get to use the reel for a while.
  15. I sold a 2004 tracker pt175 last year for $8000. This sounds like an awesome deal, I'd jump on it. If you change your mind later you should have no issues selling it once it warms up
  16. 68mxf will be perfect for what you want. I have the LTB version in both spinning and casting. I have a fluke on the casting rod most of the time, i also use it for jerkbaits, and topwater . I use the spinning rod for senkos, wacky rigs, ned rigs, shakeyheads, grubs, etc.
  17. If I buy a new rod, I'm probably getting a new st croix elite. I was planning to get a casting rod, but now I have an extra reel with no home
  18. Now to decide what rod to put it on, or what new rod to buy.
  19. I bought one and it shipped today.
  20. I wonder why such a low price. Are they coming out with a replacement this year?
  21. My year was awesome. Bought a house on the water last fall, so spent this year mapping and fishing the new lake. Caught 10+ bass over 5 lbs, with a new pb at 7lbs. Went out with a buddy on his boat on another local lake and caught a 6lb spotted bass... The best part of the year was getting my 2 year old daughter out on the boat and helping her catch her first fish, thought that didn't end so well. I guess she thought it would be similar to her bath toys and tried to grab it, and freaked our when it moved and that it was slimy
  22. I really want to order one of these but can't decided what to get. I have a 68mxf ltb that I love, so I can't decide if I should upgrade that or get something else
  23. 3/8 oz bait. I think the rod could handle 1/2 oz, though the 844 is probably the better choice. It depends if you prefer your rods on the heavier or lighter side.
  24. I used a loomis e6x mbr843 this year with spinnerbaits. I used that setup more than anything else this year and has the same spinnerbait tied in all year
