  1. Let me guess... Improved clinch knot. Try something that double loops through the eye of the hook or using a straight shank snell knot.
  2. Yeppers. Jigs and smaller presentations work best. My boys (6 and 7 years old) caught over 100 perch on pink jigs with a white grub on it.
  3. Weightless T-Rig senko Tubes Jig Lipless crank over the top of beds is fairly effective as well. Lo vis line or leader is a must as well.
  4. Braid - Suffix Performance if under 30LB Fluoro - Seagar Invisx 6 thru 12 is awesome line I like Powerpro for casting but its not as durable or visible above water as Suffix. The PLINE bonded stuff was garbage for me. IMHO of course.
  5. I would say yes... Typically I use a crank to locate and then switch over to: 1) weightless senko 2) Tube 3) Jig
  6. A lighter works for repairing senkos. LOL @ unicorn blood.
  7. Just got into tube fishing as well. Smallies have been inhaling them.
  8. I am travelling to Toronto for work next week. I will check it out as well.
  9. Yes sir. Although berkley braid knot is what I normally use.
  10. 15+ pound Northern Pike 10+ pound Bowfin 7 pound Chain Pikerel etc.. All caught when fishing for bass. The top (2) I caught on a the smallest rapala tail dancer in perch. Great Lure.
  11. BPS exists in Canada... Just order it there. Or order some from your local bait shop and support local business.
  12. Heck yeah. Lately been catching a ton of smallies and LMB on 5 inch watermelon senkos and 3.5" tubes. So awesome watching the line tick or start to run a bit then *WHAM* perfect hookset.
  13. I have thought about swapping to spinning gear, just have not made the move yet. Thought I would give the baitcasters a good try first. I never gave braid a thought. Actually I have never used braid, but I realize that is an area I need to grow into. I take it braid will cast easily is that right? The bottomline is long casts here for spotrs are very productive under the right conditions. Thanks for the input.....to all PowerPro Braid casts a mile... Not a huge fan of its visibility or durability but for casting and stained water its hard to beat.
  14. Duo-lock I use quite a bit. I expiremented with the Rapala loop knot for a bit but quick snap works the best for me.
  15. XRSH06 XRSH08 06 / 08 have caught the most fish for me... The giant ones work great for Pike though.
  16. I really like the larger Husky Jerk baits... As for Xraps I have and use a ton of them. Fished slow and erratic seems to be the best way to generate strikes. Casting rod makes it much easier to work as well. The Smaller perch, olive green and bleeding olive flash have all produced well for me this year. The larger jointed Xraps are superb Northern Pike lures... Again perch and bleeding Olive flash have produced well for me. I caught a 4LB smallie on the gold XJS13 a month or so ago.
  17. Lately a texas rigged watermelon senko is producing well for me. 7-8 quality bass in a few hours. Lucky Craft LC pointer in perch is also money. (literally at $15 but it works.) Northern Pike love this lure as well...
  18. Indeed. I have recently discovered the senko worm and I got to say catching many more smallies. More Pics to come. I got three at lunch in 45 minutes on a 5 inch watermelon with black flake. On another note also learning about line twist with worm fishing. Very annoying. Using a small ball bearing swivel to counter act that now.
  19. Small Rapala tail dancer in perch has been murdering them here... But as it gets more into the season, year after year. Top waters are my biggest producers. Spook and Skitter Pops are my favorites.
  20. I've used Suffix and Spiderwire... Power Pro is my favorite by far. The line diameter and low memory is a key. Thanks to some solid adivce from this board, I use a mono backing with 75 yards of PP 40# test. Last night I hooked a huge bowfin, 3 pike and a nice smallie and the line survived. Bowfin is a nasty tempered fish with teeth so its a good test. ~WL
  21. I just started using it this year and I have to say that I love it. The only negative is that I can't see it especially in low light. It has low memory, casts great and is extremely durable. It also has a really small diameter compared to other braids and that sealed the deal for me. The spooler gizmo is pretty cool as well.
  22. Thanks! Probably my nicest bass this year. Should get a chance to fish at lunch and some this evening.
  23. Improved Clinch, uni, palomar and the braid knot all work well... Most the time I just use a palomar or Improved clinch. Wet the line is key when tightening braid.
  24. and another... This one went after a full size 7 inch jointed Xrap in Gold. Nice fish, great fight. everyone was happy.
  25. Nice fish! Fellow Vemonter as well. Been mostly fishing the Lamoille river and a bit on Champlain although LC hasn't heated up for me as of yet.
