  1. Went out to my favorite pond today, and caught seven nice bass. One on a spinnerbait, five on a plastic worm, and one on a jig. The largest was around three pounds or so, I also hooked two monsters, but they broke off. The bass are close to the bank and feasting on bluegills and minnows. Shouldn't be but a week or so before they start spawning!
  2. Well the pond I fish is roughly 5 acres with three arms, and is surrounded by a forest. So it's difficult to get all around the pond, so I mainly end up fishing one cove at a time, and since there's alot of fallen trees in the coves I end up going for a jig, but if I'm not getting bit by 10 or 15 minuets I'm confused if I should swith maybe to a reaction bait or just fish keep fishing the jig till I've fished the cove completely.
  3. I don't know if this has been brought up before, but for people who fish ponds from shore, how long do you fish with a lure before you switch up?
  4. Interesting, I never thought about it like that.
  5. Ya I bet the Shiners are really good for the fish population. They're food for just about everything!
  6. You should talk to the owner(s) about taking fish out of the pond because they are probably too over populated.
  7. Ya it's been raining for two days where I live and it's affected the fishing quite a bit.
  8. Buy some Storm Wildeye Swimshad. Whenever I have a new pond I use this lure. You can fish it anyway you want; hop it, twitch it or just cast and retrieve. This lure catches fish.
  9. About 40 bucks. But I went right after Christmas with all my gift cards and money and spent 256$.
  10. At the farm I work at they have this sweet 5 acre lake that is full of big bass. Well I went fishing there and I would know whenever a fish would be following my lure because a bunch of little fish would jump out of the water. Like they thought the bass was going for them. They didn't look like bluegill at all. I think maybe they're shad, but the owners didn't stock it with shad. Maybe someone put them in or the eggs hitched a ride on a bird or something? I think they are thriving in there cause the bass are sure fat! Thanks,
  11. Did you fish from shore or on a boat? Cause I'm a bank beater.
  12. Has anyone fished this lake? I kinda want to this summer but don't know if the bass fishing is good or not. I've read some reports, but that was from 2006.
  13. Geez..Nice fish!!!
  14. Thanks for the advice! I'm excited to get back on the water and try it again now.
  15. Thank you so much! And I have a Berkley Lightning Shock Series rod. The Bandit weighs 1/4, and I don't think I'm gonna use them again till I get better.
  16. I have an Abu Garcia Silver Max with 15 pound flourcarbon. Because I'm still new to baitcasting reels I have the magnetic braking system just about as tight as it can go untill I improve. Well I went fishing today and used it for the first time (other than practicing in the yard with heavy jigs), and I was fishing a Bandit 200 series crankbait. And when I cast I couldn't get much distance at all, and the lure always went to the left. Is it because the lure is really light, and/or because I have the braking system so tight? Or maybe I just need more practice? Thanks a bunch,
  17. Lipless Crankbaits are good search baits.
  18. LOL that's pretty funny unless you're the one getting blinded.
  19. Well I picked up a bag of Chompers Skirted Grubs at BPS today, and the label said they had a garlic scent to them. I thought "Well it can't be that bad" but boy was I wrong! I opened them in the car on the way home and I gagged because the smell was so incredibly bad! Stunk up the car. And when I brought them up to my room they stunk up the whole upstairs to the point where my parents made me throw them away. I wasted six dollars. Did I just get a bag that was over saturated with scent? Or have any of you guys had problems with Chompers over saturating their lures? Kinda makes me wonder why they put scent on the lures anyways, its not like the scent alone attracts the fish.
  20. I have a Abu Silver Max and I love it...
  21. Not me, but luckily it's spring break next week so I'm gonna be heading out quite a bit next week.
  22. I think it could have some crawdads in it. One of the ponds I fish is pretty much surrounded by a dairy farm, and when the owener mows the grass you can see crawdad shells. There's no creek anywhere near by. And at another pond I fish Chigger Craws kill. Look at the Brush hog, and other creature baits. They don't really look like anything yet they catch fish..alot of fish.
  23. I'm curious to know what most of you guys have on your rods during prespawn. I'm not quite sure on what to use other than jigs, and shakeyheads. Thanks,
