Boat buying advice - 1990 Skeeter SF 175
Personally I think your $5-6K is kind of on the low side considering boats right now have more demand than supply. You're probably going to have to settle somewhere in the middle to the higher end of his asking price...my guess. Maybe make $8K your budget and hope for $7,500?

Jigs vs texas rigs in ponds
Texas Rig from shore is a much more enjoyable day, but you can't beat the jig bite in early - mid spring.

My wife got her second shot yesterday, my kids and I got Pfizer and my wife Moderna. So far all 4 of us have had no reactions.

The cyst my mother has has grown a bit, but so far it's not cancer. The docs are watching it and have her scheduled for a CAT scan next month. So far so good....I guess....?

Small Boat for Big Water?
I used to fish and take the kids in the Atlantic Ocean on this. The bottom left hand side of the pic is a 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke motor and we felt pretty safe in it. I had it since 2010 and just sold it for $1,200 to a very good friend. I probably could have gotten about $2K, but he gave it to his son for his kid. It's pretty easy to inflate at the lake/pond/ocean and the engine was fairly light enough to take off and whatnot. Everything fit in the back of my Ford Ranger at the time.

Update on me

Ranking the Seattle big 4- a grunge retrospective
I like em all, although I like Temple Of The Dog more than AIC. I like some AIC but I'm not sure what it is about AIC that makes me lose interest. It seems like Pearl Jam and Nirvana get a bad rap cuz they had a bit of a mainstream presence that true alt fans resented them for.

Mice ate my jon boat cover. Any brand or other ideas to keep that from happening?
I had stored a Yamaha 9.9 in my shed for a couple of years. When I took the motor down to the mechanic to give it a tune up and whatnot he found a mouse inside the cover. Those little guys get into everything.

Martini Drinkers?
Most grandfathers have it that way. Otherwise it takes too long to mix and pour. We all know that a grandfather's time is short and valuable. I couldn't resist. ?

This made me laugh ....
Who would put a telephone pole in the middle of the lake? ? Kinda makes you wonder where he would of ended up if that pole wasn't there?

Transom
Check your PM. You can also get like 12" aluminum flat bar stock from a hardware store. You're basically looking to distribute the load of the motor clamp and protecting the transom like @J Francho mentions in his post.

CONGRATS @J Francho!

Transom
If you have enough 1/2" plywood leftover, just use that. You should have more than enough room to get the motor on.

Martini Drinkers?
That's actually how my father has it J-Bricks. Anyway, I'm not a huge martini drinker, but he likes to stop by the house in the summer, so I feel like I should have one with him. ? Thank you. Be safe.

Martini Drinkers?
How do you like your Martini? Vodka or Gin? How much Vodka/Gin to Dry Vermouth? Green olive or Lemon twist? Ok James Bond. Shaken or stirred? Straight up or on the Rocks? Me? I’m not a huge Martini drinker but it’s: 6 parts London Dry Gin, 1 part dry vermouth, shaken, straight up with Lemon twist. How about you?

Had to do plumbing repairs at the house today, then a little yard work. Just sat down to relax. I know, the glass doesn’t work but it tastes good. ?
