  1. Seems like when I set the hook my thumb is clamped down on the spool anyway. I really only adjust the drag when I'm fighting the fish. If the drag is too tight for a heavy fish that keeps pulling, then I release the drag a bit. If it's a light fish who wants to be bigger, then tough $**t, it's coming in. Other than that, I try and lead a simple life. You don't want me thinking too much. Paralysis by analysis is all it gets me.
  2. Wow. Almost 2 pages of posts, all because you were born in Wor-chester-shire. ?
  3. There's been absolutely no updates on my package up until yesterday. This morning I looked and voila, out for delivery. Should be at my house when I get home. And BTW, when did you go all Dire Straits gangster on this post? This little ditty wasn't OG on that post.
  4. You probably know this but definitely wear a mask. A respirator is better. Breathing in glass dust is really isn’t good for you.
  5. I’ll pass. I have a hard time speaking Bostonian. No need to learn another language. ?

  8. I think the guys who are "seasoned veteran" anglers probably have the best gear possible. If you were doing something professionally that you're banking on for a living as your sole source of income, would you go out an perform your job with less than the best equipment available.
  9. Crooked Ward Crik!? Thanks RW, I took a sip of water when I read that and now it's all over my screen! ? I can honestly say in all my 50 plus years, I've never heard it pronounced that way...Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if I had and just didn't pay attention. ?
  10. Worchester, Wister and then there's 'everybody has to try the Bostonian accent' - Wor-chest-ahh, Wist-ahh and of course you were dead on with Woo-Stah! ? Good job, man! ?
  11. Please be sure you pronounce that city correctly...That city's name gets butchered more than any I know...?
  12. That guy need to gain weight, that 3 lb fish make him look puny...?
  13. No doubt about it. I had times when I was fishing a lake I've never been to and couldn't find a fish to save my life on a bottom contact lure. I threw out a dog walkers, caught a respectable fish and ended up having a great day just in that one area. Basically that 1 topwater fish told me where his buddies were.
  14. And a buzzbait...? For whatever reason, some of my best days were when I saw snapping turtles sunning. But I was like you, could not wait to get on a topwater bite. I had a chance to talk to Larry Dahlberg and I asked him why he liked to fish a topwater so much. A lot of his shows he would be fishing topwaters. There were 2 reasons: 1 - There no better way than watching a fish going after your lure. You can learn so much just by witnessing that behavior. 2 - It's just a visual for the television audience. At least he didn't lie about the second reason...?
  15. Oh man, I used to be a topwater nut. Used to take the dog for a walk whenever I could. Usually tho, I never started walking the dog until I saw baitfish in the shallows or a snapping turtle on a rock laying in the sun.
  16. You know what they say: "Cold today hot tamale"....oh never mind. ?

Still has like 2 more stops before it gets shipped to my state. Then it's wait and see when it get's delivered. Nothing you can do except wait I guess. BTW: Tackle Direct---ACES!

  20. Speaking of Bait Monkey?...Can someone lend me a few hundred til February...?...I'm just getting through the fever from him.
  21. I did a similar repair to a rod a few years back and I used the cut-off wheel to a Dremel tool. Simply tape the section you want to cut with masking or blue painter's tape, mark where you want to cut and have at it. The reason for the tape is to keep the cut-off wheel from walking.
  22. Yeah ?...Let's keep it rated "G"... ?
  23. I actually benefit from these year end sale...?
