Hey all, It's been a good season so far and for whatever reason I haven't thrown a topwater in quite a while until last Thursday and had an absolute blast. Fish, for me, are still out on a second weedline close to deep water. I'm not sure why, but moving baits are still the way to go for me. I'm getting not only more fish, but better quality fish than I'm getting on plastics or jigs. The fall bite will be here before you know it, good luck! Arched Rods! JF10

I'm still doing well at Houghtons, I haven't been by Blue Hills since the spring, but now that I see this thread I'm gonna hit it this Friday after work. Next week I plan on going to Buckmasters a few times in Westwood.

I usually see a road widening with a left or right turn lane or both, you can see how there would be infrastructure work, but the be playground was over the top. I'm out of this one, politics is starting to get involved. Scorcher, I hoped I helped you Bud.

It's practiced in more places than I thought. I was looking at a development for a client and we were asked to look at an "offsite" piece. It turns out to be a complete rehab Of a playground across town as a condition to the development approvals!

Just because you go to school for architecture, doesn't mean you're pinned into being and architect. Many of my collegues went for archtiecture and went into various positions including Construction Management/General Contracting firms as Superintendents, Project Managers or Estimators. Some went on to work as either an Estimator or Project Manager for the various sub-trades. Heck, some own their own business in one of the various construction related trades. CAD users find many positions across the industry as drafting shop and asbuilt drawings and is as much a part of the construction process as the Building Permit drawings provided by the architect. The trades that use CAD draftsmen are: Concrete, Steel Fabricators, Rebar Faricators, Glass, Doors Frames and Hardware, Flooring, HVAC, Plumbing, Sprinkler, Site, Electircal and I know I'm missing a few. As far as an Architects demeanor, just remember that they get paid by the owner of the building and once an owner approves a design, the architect will make sure the owner's best interest is met. As far as one trade bashing another? There are idiots across the board, just learn to manage them and you will have a successful project. Another point is, there is no project unless there is city or town approval and that starts with an architect. In case you're wondering, I'm not an architect, I work for a construction management firm and went to school for arcitecture for 2 years which was a requirement to either go into a BS in architecture, construction technology or construction management. I chose tech. Hope this helps.

My son and I went old school one day and we took out our spicast outfits for some panfish action. We used the Rebel 4 pack Critter Classic - Teeny Pop-R, Crickethopper, Teeny Wee-Crawfish and Teeny Wee-R - and boy did we have a lot of fun. We were catching bluegill, crappie, small grass pickerel and a suprise 2 lb largemouth bass. We were fishing around weedlines and lilly pads on 6# test mono where these lure excelled for us. I wish I could tell you which one was a favorite, but I can't, they all caught fish and a lot of memories. I think my son is a Pop-R nut now...LOL If you have a young angler and you're looking for a great outdoor activity, the Rebel Classic Critter 4 pack lures is the way to go, you can't go wrong!

I was able to get out of work early the other day and was able to do some fishing. The pond is right on the way home, had a really nice shady end and was calm with a little surface disturbance. I looked to see what I had in my tackle box and saw that I had a Rebel Frog-R. What the heck, let's give it a whirl! I fished this lure around lilly pads and other emergent vegetation and had a lot of fun catching bass under 2 lbs. It's a smaller walk-the-dog type lure at about 2 1/4" inches and casts very well with it's 3/8 oz weight. The lure sits in the water at a nice 45* angle, so start-up on the retrieve is easily achievable. It has a fast walk to it due to it's smaller length and any minor surface disturbance to the water gives it a nice bounce/skip to it. I fished it on a 6'0 MH, moderate action rod with 12 lb P-Line C21. I didn't catch anything over 2 lbs, but the water I fished it in usually doesn't have larger fish in the shallows this time of year. Great lure if you want to go out, have fun and catch numbers. I'm sure it's capable of catching a nice quality fish. Give it a whirl!

Nice report grandpa1114...my fish are coming on second weed lines, break lines to deeper water and humps. Tate's comment about the quality of fish this year is spot on, I totally agree with this statement. The other thing I'm surprised about, is the bigger than average trout I'm catching this year on lipless crank...On heck of a fight in them...I've caught more trout this year on bass lures than any year combined! I'm still laughing about that MCS, that is so awsome! I've never had 2 on 1 lure before. What do you do when you get them to shore, it's not like you can lip them, can you?! LOL

I fished there twice this year and although it was right after ice out, I had no luck. Granted my days fishing have been limited, I'll have to try the res again, I go by it every day after work. Were you fishing off the point or the shoreline adjacent to where you park? Houghton's pond has been good for the hour and a half - two hours I can get there. Clark617, if you fish during the day, hit the south side of the pond, it's has a lot of shade for our green friends. Dawn and dusk you'll have better luck on the north side. I have basically ruled out the west side and east can be good if the lily pad field is abundant. Last year they over managed the pond and killed all the weeds. I've noticed that they are coming back and so have the fish. If you like topwater, then you're at the right place. Good luck!
