Fire Shad Spinner
You can't see from the pic, but before I made the line tie, I installed a swivel. Fished slow you won't need it, speed it up and you will.

Hair Jigs For Smallmouth
Krystal Flash smalljaw? Looks sweet. There is something about a little Krystal Flash that just does something to a bait. I love a little on teaser tails for topwaters.

Thanks bassinjody39, much appreciative. Funny you mentioned fishing it in the pads, I got an e-mail from him saying that he got 6 in 2 hours and 4 came from the pads...LOL

Fire Shad Spinner
Lately, I've been experimenting with painted blades and really like this Fire Shad pattern on my overhead spinnerbaits. My buddy asked me to make an inline version and wanted it weedless, so here's what I came up with: Whatchya think?

2 Questions 1 Post
Here's a simple way I t-rig a tube: Sinker on the line followed by a swivel. Tie the line to the hook and install the tube's nose as you would a worm. Install the free side of the swivel over the hook barb and pull the line tight. Finish rigging the tube: The finished bait:

Blade Colors
You betchya. I find that nickel blades don't produce nearly as much as gold blades. The reason being, in my mind atleast is, we don't have a shad population and I think the bright flash coming from a nickel blade tends to spook the fish. I do use them and have had success, don't get me wrong, but a gold blade would be my first choice followed by a painted white or flourescent orange blade in low light conditions. Right now the flourescent orange has been money, kind of like the "shock" color of yesteryear...LOL My spinnerbaits have a snap instead of a split ring attached to the bearing, so I can switch blade sizes, shapes and colors quickly instead of switching skirt colors which can be a bit more time consuming. I'll often run through a process of elimination to find which blade the fish prefer.

How To Cast Soft Plastics Far, They Are So Lightweight That They Never Go Far..
All great replies IMHO. I would only add 2 things: The more appendages in a bait the more air resistance is applied during a cast. You can out cast a T-rigged soft stickbait to a whacky rigged one. As I learned from Uncle Homer, leave your bait hanging about 6 inches longer prior to casting than you normally do and you'll notice extra distance in your cast.

White Spinnerbaits At Night?
I agree with Bluebasser for the most part that vibration of a lure will be felt by a bass more so than anything. I also subscribe to the solid color skirt theory in low light conditions as well...solid black, solid blue, solid chartreuse, solid white... Well you get the picture. Use the vibration to your advantage and let the bass home in on the sillouette of the solid colored lure.
