You mentioned that you were in the 60*'s and heading to high 70*'s - 80*'s. The fish should still be in the area. 60*'s is still a good temp to keep bass active. Have you taken a temp of your water? Something to consider when the water temps gets really cold (low 50*'s and lower). Generally in fall and spring, shallow water will warm up faster than the main lake and baitfish will come in to feed. Bass won't be far behind. Look for the end of the lake that gets most of the sun. With no shad in our waters here in the north, look for sunfish in the shallows, around points, areas ajacent to the main lake channel and creek arms.

I agree with Grey Wolf, those fish will be actively chowing for the winter. Spinnerbaits and cranks will be the ticket, I'm sure your weightless rig won't fail you.

That's awesome! I was just watching one of his shows the other day. "House needs painting, grass needs mowing, where's he at...He's gone fishing!"...couldn't resist...LOL

It's actually called a split shot rig that Cali anglers used for years in their clear waters. I used to use it in NH lakes, great for lakes like New Found where you see bottom in like 20 FOW...They usually have the split shot up about 4' (feet). AND BTW, why are you using lead up in NH, you law breaker you...LOL

If I had to choose it would be sinking line. You pretty much answered your own question on rod length. I do believe that some reels can be switch over for left to right and vice versa. Flies: Dahlberg Divers, Clouser Minnows, Wolly Buggers to name a few.

I really like reading and watching Denny Brauer, he has taught me a ton on jig fishing. I can't really add to what has already been said, but in due time with fishing t-rigs, jigs and even c-rigs, you'll get to understand what your bait is doing underwater and what it feels like to hit a rock, stump, clump of grass etc. For me, I need to watch my line constantly and concentrate to the point where I can almost visualize what my lure is doing during the presentation. As soon as my concentration is brokened or I don't have the concentration needed, then the presentation won't any good and opportunity of a caught fish is gone.

That's how my Spit'N Image is. The scales are almost gone and the black back seems to be flaking off more and more. The other day I was fishing with a group of members here and I swung and missed on atleast 5 fish in the morning. I was starting to get discouraged, so out came old faithful. It only took 2 or 3 casts and my confidence was restored with a 1 - 1.5 lber. I went back to fishing the tube I was swinging and missing on and wound getting a nice 4.8 lbs LMB.

Once, I was jig fishing in the spring and I felt like I snagged on something. I thought I got out of the snag and let my line go slack to continue on hopping/dragging the bottom. Well my line started to dart off to the side, so I set the hook. I thought, Man, that must have been a pretty bad hook set because it felt like I pulled on bungee cord. I finally figured out that I still have a fish on the end and when I got it to shore I found what I snagged. My jig had hooked on to one side of a three way swivel (the part you tie to) and on another end of the three way swivel was about a 4' leader and a rainbow trout.

Understood, all I gave you was general information of typical hook sizes on various jig heads I've seen in the past. Please accept my respectful apology for providing you information which may be wrong.

Sorry buddy I struck out on my search as well. A lot of jig molds would require 5/0 for 1/2oz and 6/0 for 3/4 oz. I know it's not what you're looking for, but it's an educated guess anyway. My arky mold takes up to a 1/2 oz and that requires a 5/0, so it's a fairly good comparison.

Which head size are you looking for?

Rhino was a fish catching machine on our (his) boat. I lost count on how many he caught. He caught LMB, SMB, pickeral and 1 or 2 bluegill. It was a lot of fun to be with a bunch of guys you converse with on an internet site. Just being able to put faces to a bunch of guys posting on a fishing thread was a tremendous experience.

I didn't have a great day as far as catching bass, I know of at least 5 I swung and missed on with one being a really nice fish I missed on 2 consecutive casts. My hit to miss ratio was worst than Carl Crawford's for the Sox. I finally broke the ice with "Old Faithful" and walked the dog for my first of the day about mid-way thru the outing a healthy 1-1.25 lber. Not big, but satisfying to say the least. Towards the end of the outing I went back to the tube I missed all my fish on, a Yum F2ube in virgo red. It was the only one working for me with the exception of the topwater: Here's the results of what was turning out to be stupidity for not switching it up earlier to persistance/determination that this tube was gonna work: The majority my bites came on c-rig as we focused on structure off the bank for a good part of the day and this 4.8 lber was on a t-rig right up against the bank of an island. If I recall, this bank really had no shallow area to speak of, but had a nice drop-off. I also recall that the fish was located near or under overhanging branches.

I actually think it does have a good purpose. The site has cleaned up a lot. There are still differences of opinions, but now it's not as malicious, for lack of a better term, which is good, because now you can still have a healthy debate. It really cleaned up a lot of the wise @$$ comments that were made in the past. JMHO
