  1. Nice to have you back Capt!

With my luck, I'd break my arm the day before and can't fish. I'll end up spending my final hours on this site!
  3. Awesome Clayton86! Congrats to you and your family. Great pics for sure.
  4. I know on the surface this piece of legislature doesn't look great, but there is a provision to vote on a balanced budget amendment to the constitution (that's what I read anyway, I may be wrong on that). Still not outta the woods just yet, we still have to wait and see what Moody's & S&P do to our credit rating.
  5. Not just you...last year I would have started culling a week into this, this year I can't get a sniff on topwaters.
  6. See post #55. All smokeless tobacco products are expensive here. It's called a "Sin Tax".
  7. LOL...I knew what you originally meant RoLo, I knew YOU wouldn't prioritize and I was just trying to make a point. Thanks.
  8. Hi, I'm Jigfishn10 and I'm a bassaholic! (clap, clap, clap).
  9. This was an excellant thread and a good read, but my only complaint is, why do we have to prioritize all these things? The OP had a list of 6 items he thought or thinks are his list of importance. That's like saying that he has to be excellant at his number 1 item and by the time you get to #6 that would be mediocre. I don't think that's a great formula for success or even a great way of thinking about it. Wouldn't you want strive to be good at all facets of the fishing game and not prioritize it? RoLo broke those 6 items down to 3 and made a list base off of that. For the most part I agree, but I don't think it's 1, 2, 3 but more like 1a, 1b, 1c. If you don't have one of those items he listed, then it's a long fishng day, IMO.
  10. That's great news, congrats lynyrdshy1!
  11. Good conversation all! I'm glad this thread got unlocked and progressed in a civil manner. My new job and my now watered down biz has kept me away from the computer for a good portion of my day, so I don't have time to research topics like this anymore, but I have learned a lot from this thread. Thank you.
  12. I know, I was a little P.O'd about not being able to get the time off from work, but with they way the economy has been treating me these last couple of years, I was happy to have the work. I really want to get in on these get togethers, but I gotta take care of my family first...LOL...They don't like eating fish and I would rather eat saltwater fish...LOL
  13. I have to admit that I've gotten a little complacent in the past few years. I carry a little trash bag or when it's hot a little playmate cooler for my water bottles and discard all MY trash in them, but I got really tired of picking up trash left by others. I would go to the same spots I had just cleaned up days ago only to see them trashed again. The old adage of "if you can't beat em, join em" will never be practiced by me, but I find it being a futile effort to keep picking up after others. I'd just assume do the right thing and that's making sure I don't leave trash behind. Sorry, but teaching and setting examples for ignorance, just doesn't work for me anymore.
  14. How do you know if you're not in the right location? Ever pull up to a real "bassy" spot and think that they are there? You would start with a lure and present it the best way possible only to switch to other lures and presentations only to figure out that they're not there.
  15. He's hurtin for money now, you want him to get a divorce with 2 young kids? That should solve his financial problems...LOL...Go for the spine!
  16. I was reading an article about how S&P and Moody's may not like a debt ceiling raised without some kind of hardcore spending cuts made in Washington. Either way, when and if this bill gets passed, the credit rating will be under scrutiny by both credit agencies. The Federal Reserve is planning a strategy if the debt ceiling isn't raised by the alotted time limit, but at what cost? My only wish is that this bill is THE ONE that comes with tranparency and no back room deals like the Healthcare Bill that got passed. I have yet to figure out how that will affect my little biz. SirSnook, I understand what you mean by a lot of Govt Peeps becoming unemployed, but there a lot of Peeps in the Private Sector who still don't have a job since the recession started. Trust me, if it wasn't for the stimulus package we got, I would have been out of business a long time ago, but you have to admit, we may have gotten a little top heavy with peeps working for the govt. We need to get more private businesses going to help pay for all this. I honestly fear for my not yet teens kids. We can't keep mortgaging their future.
  17. I fished t's in NH back in the early 90's and jigs that you use today is fine, it is by the inch and not by the once and you couldn't buy lead sinker locally up there. I wish MA would model NH when it comes to Jigs. Grundle, I hope you obey the new laws in MA next year. It's guys like you who try to "get away with it" that gives us more stringent laws in the future. Heaven knows we have more restrictions in life (not fishing related) now then when I was your age. You can do what you want, of course and probably will, but for the such a small restriction heading our way, I think for this great sport we participate in, we can give in a little.
  18. Jig or spinnerbait...I would have to flip a coin before getting in the boat.
  19. Here's a pretty good guide to start with on spinnerbait parts: http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/content/make_spinnerbaits.htm I've "palyed around" with other sizes with positive results, but this will give you a good starting point. Jig and spinnerbait molds will have recommended hook sizes and manufacturer's hook catalog numbers associated with them. Go to Jann's Netcraft or any other online tackle making site and they will have a section on molds. Heck you can even go to Do-It Molds site for the same info. A lot of guys here modify the molds to accept different hooks from othe manufacturers, but I suggest using the recommedation listed on the mold to start out with before you go hog wild on modifications to your stock mold. Hope this helps and good luck! Be sure to post some pics of your work.
  20. That's aweful .ghoti. I can't imagine that happening to my lil 12 acre honey hole. I would be devastated. Hope it makes a comeback!
  21. Anyone worried about this? This could really hurt, IMO, if this doesn't get done. I'm not sure I want to or can go thru another recession if our (U.S.) credit rating gets dropped down a notch.
  22. Nice Sam, I'm glad it worked for ya...now go catch some fish.
  23. Man, Big Bass Man, you got money right there...SAHWEET!
  24. Jigfishn10 replied to BIG M's topic in Tacklemaking
Should be fish catchers for sure BIG M!
  25. basscrusher is correct in the fact that it will walk. It won't walk like your typical spook or skitterwalk, but never the less it does have the some side to side action if you throw slack in the line. Sometimes a slow walk with a pop or splash is the ticket. Good luck with it.
