I started my then 5 year old son on a spinnerbait. At that age, they like to crank and a reaction type bait where a bass would hook themselves is key in my opinion, but your choice is a good one.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. I grew up in the 70's watching and reading about the Sox & Yanks and it was pretty violent, but the peeps in Vancouver went WAY over the top. I saw some news footage this morning and it look like I was watching The Warriors again...LOL I was listening to sports radio and some guy was asking if, after planning his wedding for months and the wedding was this Saturday, "you think it would be ignorant if I postponed the wedding so he could go to the parade"? So the advice was to DVR the parade on tv. Some guy texted in and said to DVR the wedding and go to the parade...LMAO

On topwaters, I seem to catch more on the middle hook anyway. Don't screw around with the rear hook too much if you can't get it off. Those props can be a bit tricky if they're not set right. On the other one, if the prop is still good, you can get a new screw eye @ you local hardware store. It will serve the purpose.

Yeah, those got the old hook hangers, they're like a crowbar in a door. Once a bass gets leverage, forget it, they're unbuttoned. You can release the screws and take off the hooks and add split rings in a snap. I never could understand why Heddon keeps putting them on.

Believe it or not, but I experimented last year and the majority of the fish I caught at high noon was on a burning single leaf spinnerbait. Blade size was changed to 1/2 or 1 size smaller. Jigs, nothing, tubes a few, but a fast moving spinnerbait....Jackpot.

Hey guys, birdy did this perfect. this is all that is required as far as posting your catches. Lure - Length - Girth birdy, you'll see your weight in post #1. I'll juggle 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc when we get more posted weight.

Pics are not mandatory. Length and girth measurement along with lure used. Add the pic if you got a nice oinker for all to see, if you can. All boils again today, nothing produced.

Managed to get out for 2.5 hours today. Got 4 on a t-rigged tube, all in weeds. Set the hook, reeled in the pigs only to find out I had 3 lbs of weeds and 1.5 lbs of fish... Nice to get out tho.

Dark colors for sure. Solid white for some reason works in shallow water. No mixed light colors. A lure that puts out vibration is a good bet. Red in shallow water is a good bet. If it was me, a black skirted single colorado spinnerbait or buzzbait with red flake.

I haven't been able to get out much lately, anyone having any luck? The recent colder temps and rain can't be helping right now. I'm hoping to get a couple of hours in tomorrow after work. I'll let you know how I do.

Had to go to Rhode Island and do home inspections for an insurance company this morning. I met a lot of hungover peeps and some still drunk....

Would love to, but my wife works every Sunday and I work every other Saturday. Thanks anyway grandpa1114. If a date gets set in stone on a Saturday I don't have to work, I would love to tag along with someone.

Spinnerbaits and lipless cranks work well for me. Just make sure you give it an erratic retrieve. Bass will hit an injured fish first.

A bass came over the top on my topwater, brought it down under water, the lure sprang up about 2 feet in the air and while the lure started coming back down, a bass...not sure if it was the same one...nailed it about 6" above water. I was laughing so hard I almost forgot to set the hook.

Looks like a 10 lbs bag will win...ROFL

Anyone get anything on topwater yet? Since this tourney started I had 2 good topwater days, conditions wise, but the fish I caught were kinda small. I probably should have posted the measurments and weights, but I thought that they were gonna get culled anyway. I'll be posting my next catches either way.

I was happy just to get a bite on a buzzbait after 3 years. It was getting to a point where i was making maybe 10 casts with it before I switched it out for another type of topwater. Got some more since my last post, so far so good. Thanks for your support guys.

I'm running a bit slower and can't get the Northeast Forums to load up. So far all other forums load. Not trying to be a pain in the butt or redundant, just wanted to let you know what I'm seeing.

Single prop buzzbaits do run off to the side, usually in the rotational direction of the blade due to the amount of torque exerted by the blade. You can compensate that by bending the blade arm horizontally or by drilling holes in the blade itself. Lighter buzzbaits are usually worse that heavier ones, but that does propose a compromise.
