The method I tried a few times and with great results was to form a loop on the wire and made a hole big enough to accept the formed loop. Drilled a hole on the side of the bait so I can insert a portion of a 4d nail so it catches the inside if the looped wire and epoxy it all in. It gave more flexibiltiy to position the ballast. It's been working great.

I know the "book" says "go smaller", but I say go bigger and hope everyone "goes by the book". In all honesty, I never bought into the "book", so I would get both an let the fish tell you what they want on any given day.

From your OP you sound like you're a reaction lure type fisherman. I'd say run those t-rigs, c-rigs, jigs, drop shots etc until you get confidence in them. Heck, run a tube down there and see what happens. Without knowing your conditions, it's a hard question to answer, but you need to get more confident at slowing down and fishing those lures. If you're dead set against it, slow roll a 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz spinnerbait along the edge, tree stumps or hop it down the drop off. Get the confidence in that presentation and then try it with the above (t-rigs, c-rigs etc). JMHO

Depending your water temps and day (cloudy or clear) there could be a number of different places. If your fishing bright sunny days, then I would say go target practicing, meaning in cover, under docks, shady areas, etc. Cloudy skies with a front moving in, they may be in the same places just mentioned or they could go out to the first breakline in deeper water. JMHO.

C-Rig, spoons, 3/4 oz spinnerbait.

Alex, if you have confidence in that worm and you found a source, then I say, get as many as you think you need and then some. Fish with confidence and work on technique and presentation while you're doing it.

Very nice River Rat316. Looks like a poison head? Great colors too. I may have to try some, especially where the weeds are getting a bit thick now and that 30* angled hook could be just the ticket.

Jig or tube would be my selection.

1/4 oz you can use a #4 and a #3 possibly a 3.5. 3/8 oz you can use a 4.5 and a 3.5, possibly a 4. I generally go 1 size down on the front blade, but have experimented with going to 1/2 sizes down. The biggest single blade on a 1/4 oz I use is a 4.5, but that is fishing real slow and I haven't tried a double willow using a 4.5 on a 1/4 oz head. 1/4 oz spinnerbaits can be real unstabe, so I would build one and field test it before you go nuts building a lot of them. 3/8 oz spinnerbait heads are a bit easier because they are not as unstable, IMHO.
