  1. Really good question, I don't think anyone thought of making it a 2 day event, I have made plans for one of the two days but I will look into the second and see if I can do the same Traveler. Good to see the interest from all, and can't wait to meet with all of you. Sam, This was originally Zoff's idea from a conversation you two had a short time ago, it was your suggestion to include Anna, thank you for a great suggestion, I am more than willing to help any way I can to make this happen, I will work with him and see what is needed, I look forward to meeting you. I only see this getting bigger as we go and may need to work out plans to make it a weekend event in the future,
  2. lol !! No BUD for me when I am on the water, but when I am done...well thats a different story !! As Rhino posted, it seems all states are a little different, especially within their different county's, it can be different for each, and some bodies of water will cover a few to several counties, Anna in Va. covers 3, alcohol is allowed on boats at Anna, as a matter of fact I posed that very question to an officer for the ruling, the statement was, that alcohol was EXEMPT from boats, yes he used the word exempt, but that the same rules apply for public drinking and you could be fined and or arrested for drunk in public, and you can be arrested for driving a boat while intoxicated, I do not know how it could be exempt from boats, I never clearified that with the officer, but you had better not be drinking if your the one driving the boat, it can be just as bad for you as if you were driving a car and drinking.
  3. I like this thred !!! We have been on the water a long time, no matter how old we are or how well we try to dress... or in some cases try to out dress others... we have seen our share of IDIOTS !!! my number one rule would be NO ALCOHOL !!! What does alcohol do to ones personality ? it intensifies it... so if you are a real dumba## to begin with...enough said there I think. We all have or at least should do our part to make sure our water are safe and fun for all, yes there will be times we will make mistakes, we are human, it's in our DNA, thats how we learn, but courtesy and professionalism is something we all need to be reminded of from time to time, unfortunately for some they are too stupid and can not, nor ever will, grasp the concept. Do the right thing, practice before you try to get close to objects that belong to others, show some respect for their investments and they will show the same respect to you. Good luck and be safe !!!
  4. This was an idea from a conversation between Zoff and Sam, This is one of the central located bodies of water in Va. and one that was suggested in that conversation between the two, Zoff and I had a conversation, I offered to help and here we are, hoping to meet some of our members and have some fun. I personally would like to be able to do several of these a year at all the different locations around our great state to have the chance to meet all of our members from Va. and maybe some others from BR. Black Knight I hope you are able to put enough funds together and meet us there, it should be a lot of fun. As far as an agenda is concerned Traveler, I know there will be people that are going to be fishing early and some later, my thought is to go fishing early and have everyone meet back at the park at noon or so to have a bite and to share some b's-ing and such LOL !! then head back out for some afternoon fun, so im thinking just keep it simple, but we are open to any and all thoughts and suggestions. As for us who like it early, The gate at the state park does not open until dawn, it's automatic, which should be between 5:45 and 6:00, I hope to have all available info out to everyone via this thread for all who have questions so that we can all enjoy some early time on the water, as for the afternoon, if you decide to stay and fish, the gate at the state park will close at dusk, but it will open for people who are leaving the lake.
  5. Mr Swabby, Welcome to Va., hope you can make it out, we would love to have you there !! If you have fished with RW then Anna should be a breeze for ya. There are some really good areas around F-burg and neighboring counties, with lots of good guy's and gal's that can help you out with that, WayneP. is one that comes to mind but lots of others. Traveler, We look forward to meeting you, hope you enjoy the state park it's a great place to stay and very clean, and usually very quiet. Sam, Thanx for the heads up, I will look into the hunting and check it out then post it here, will you possibly be particapating? BBF, Hope you can get some money together and meet us there, it would be nice to have you.
  6. Bass will move away if there is a larger preditor in close, too close for comfort, even though the bass are preditors themselves, they have their place in the food chain, they will move or hide if threatened.
  7. Rocky, Your welcome !! Quanjig, thats good to know and definately congrats on the bag, nice job !!!, I have a question are these open tournaments?
  8. I voted for Saturday, I think the trip will be better if we still have Sunday to rest a little, but I am game for either day. Boater here with an open seat.
  9. Wow, Nice job Rocky !!! Quanjig, were you in the tourny? if so how did you do?
  10. We have a chance to meet and greet at Lake Anna Va. in Sept., two days are posted as a poll as to which one will work better for all who wish to come and join us. Zoff has asked to have us all come out and participate, there will be boaters and non boaters alike and please let us know which you are, boater or non boater, if you are a boater please note if you will have a seat available. There are a lot of tournaments going on at Anna in Sept., parking can be difficult to find at the three most popular spots to launch from, Anna point, High point, and Sturgeons Creek. I would suggest the State park, there is a large parking area, with places to picnic and socialise, and the boat ramp is excellent, it is located at the splits so you won't have to travel too far to find some good fishing. Anyone unfamilure with the lake and has questions please feel free to ask. We look forward to the opportunity to meet a lot of the people on this forum and learn a bit from each other.
  11. Good deal !! Sent you a pm, lets see how many we get interested.
  12. Wow, Yorkshire is still around ? well thats some good news anyway lol, I used to live on Polk drive there in Manassas, back when it was Manassas Park, we moved about 2 years after it became a city... a long time ago lol !!! JSPOON Thanx a ton !!!
  13. NO WAY !!! My dad drove a Metro bus in DC we used to eat there before going to work
  14. Sam, I was not asking for the exact location, I know enough about that place he would not have to reveal much of anything, I was just thinking of some of my childhood and was just trying to have a conversation that's all. My apologies if I offended anyone by asking.
  15. I was born in Annandale but lived in Manassas for a long time, Centerville is a place I fished a lot growing up, is this one place you speak of just off of Centerville road ?
  16. Welcome to the forum !!!
  17. Welcome to the forum !!! It will come all in due time, start slow and keep it simple for now, we look forward to hearing from you !!!

    Welcome to the forum !!!
  21. Wow guy's !!! Glad to hear everyone is catching some fish anyway, dinks or not it still sounds like a lot of fun !!!
  22. We would certainly love to have you join us too, these meet and greet's are a lot of fun, we all get to learn a little something from one another.
  23. Weekend of the 15th and 16th or 22nd and 23rd
  24. Well, we may have to go in pairs or there may be a couple of boats with three on board it depends on how many we get that wants to go. I would like to suggest mid Sept, the weather is usually a little cooler and not as windy as October can be, the big boats are all but gone, that way it will be safer for the ones that only have jon boats, if that will work for everybody, and if Anna is ok with everybody too.
  25. The trip itself is what will cost you the most I assume, there is a 8 or 10 dollar parking pass you will need, it may be less for just a parking permit, since you won't have a boat.
