  1. salt/pepper tubes is what I gave to a friend of mine and he say's they are working pretty good, cheap option I know but hey if it's working for him it may for you. Good luck !!!
  2. Expencive, painful at times, but well worth it, the rivers all around here in Va.will give up a lot of fish, bass especially, to the little beast. I absolutely without a doubt promise you, you will catch bass, LMB,SMB, they will tear them up !!!
  3. Good to have you back Sir !!!!!
  4. If the spot being fished can be fished effectively with either one, then I throw the first one I can reach, it's that simple. I look at the weather forcast for the time I am on the water, I know if it's going to be a cloudy overcast day, I am going to have darker colors already on, this includes all, jigs, spinners or assorted plastics, this will also include a chartruse bait or two just incase the sun pops out, so cloud cover really only has an effect on the color not the bait I throw first, so that takes care of the cloud cover part, as far as the water clearity, for me it kind of goes hand and hand with cloud cover, wind and water temp however do play a part, as far as water temp the only change to either bait I choose, is the speed of which I retreive it, as for the wind, that one really plays the most important roll as far as which one I choose first, the more the wind blows the faster I pick up the spinner, Why wind influences that decision is simple, the swimming jig makes it harder to feel the bite on a slow retrieve, throwing a spinner is like fishing a crank in open water, your speed of the crank and the resistance it offers allows you to be in more constant contact with the bait. What really decides for me on a calm day, is how thick is the cover?, can I get a swim jig through the cover and bang into it without getting too hung up, or would the spinner be less likely to hang up and get the action I need.
  5. Yes, I read those this AM, Really nice job J.!!! Touching story about your friend by the way, sorry for the loss, sounds like a great friend to have had.
  6. You know, someday I would like to come fish you, but I think you tackle box must be as big as your boat LOL.
  7. LOL, I told the wife when we met that I was a brutally honest person, I also let her know that if she did not want the honest truth, then don't ask the questions. Even after being forewarned of this...she still asked the question...I felt like a bumble bee in a s**t storm.
  8. Thanx endless, I hope to see you guys soon, if not I hope to be able to post a few pics as well lol.
  9. Have not had the time my friend, I work 3 jobs right now and can't seem to get any time to myself, the part is only 20 couple bucks, I will get around to it eventually I hope, I really want to go fishing soon and I hope to get out there and meet a couple of you guys this season.
  10. LOL what happens when you reach 1000 for you to get excited, someday I will make it there, I just hope that out of that 1000 I have helped at least one. Anyway I hope you do get the chance to go out on Thursday with the wife and I also hope you catch a few big ones. Have fun and be safe!!!
  11. Really nice fish man, thanx for sharing !!!! What color craw were you using ? I just purchaced a pack of Bama and looking forward to using them. I have a couple of friends that own Veritas rods and both have told me they would never own another one, really nice rods they say, but just not durable enough.
  12. Here on my home lake, I have worked very hard to know the lake and how to fish it for the past ten years, TEN YEARS !!, every time I go out I catch fish, I have studied the plant growth and movements, the paths the fish travel were something I am very familure with, I have ALWAYS placed in the tourny's that we had for fun in the top two out of 20 to 30 boats, see I know my favorite lake !!! The very first time I entered a tourny on this lake that I know almost intimately, cost me 500 just to enter!! I had the utmost confidence I was sure to place at the very least, well guess what happened, yep, not one single nibble. Why? what happened? ...overconfidence, thats what happened, I was so sure I had them figured out that I overlooked a lot of simple things just for the pure reason I thought I knew what they wanted. I threw everything but a purple worm that day after the first two hours of nothing-ness...I know that's not a real word but I am using it anyway, I did not slow down enough to think things over after that, even though the screen shown I was in the right place my mind was in panic mode. Take this as it is, learn from it and move on. My wife swore to me NEVER AGAIN, she made it very clear, the next tourny though very very tough, mentally and physically, started just like the first, on the fish but not catching them, caused me to pause, clear my mind, and think basics, Stand up, look at the moment, don't overthink what you are doing here and just fish your basics, you know what when why and how, just very simply do it. I placed 2nd, have confidence in yourself, this is not the last time this will happen to you I can almost assure you of that especially if your home lake is anything like mine. What you should take from this humbling experience is that this is only one day out of a lifetime of fishing that you will learn from, everybody will have days like this. It is what it is, nothing more, nothing less, get over it and go get em the next time !!!
  13. Never have been a fan of PP either, Spiderwire has always performed very well on both spinners and baitcasters that I have.
  14. I think it's what you get when the wife asks you if she looks fat in this, and you answer incorrectly.
  15. WOW !!! Really nice to see everyone having some fun out there !!!!! Endless, LOL, I never realised how many posts I had until you mentioned it, I think it's more like 44 more posts though, so I still have a ways to go. FatG, NICE FISH MAN !!!!!! Is that out of one of your ponds? Heyitskirby, It's nice to see you posting again, I have not seen any of your posts for a while either, real nice job on the white bass, I don't think I have seen one that big. Quanjig, Sounds like you need a break LOL, you are rocking pretty good man congrats!!! Alex703, Really nice job, glad to hear your spending time with family, and thanx for the pics !!! Brick, Really nice job !!! even with all of the distractions. Ej, What can I say man, CONGRATS !!!!! Glad you got some really nice fish and had some fun on Anna.
  16. I agree with DMB, it helps to know what equiptment you are using to begin with. Since you have already gone out and bought some high quilaty hooks, that is a great start. Smaller fish, such as sunfish, are usually pretty aggressive when they attack a bait and the feel of the bite is much different in most cases than that of a bass, if you are getting very aggressive short bursts of bites, usually, but not always indicates that is a sunfish. I am not sure how much of a chance you have had to read in the artical sections, but there is a lot of info that will be of great help to you, there is a lot of text info as well as video that explains what size hooks, style of hooks etc...that will help you put more bass in the boat. Good luck and be safe and welcome to the forums !!!
  17. It is no different here in Va for me, I fish a man made lake A LOT, this artical points out so many things I found surprising about this lake verses the one in Florida, while the fish may travel a little differently, the artical is on the money. Over the past ten years, I have kept records, the vegetation has changed, not too dramatically but enough to make note of and so have the seasonal patterns of the fish. Very, Very good job !!!!!!!!!! Thank you !!!!!!
  18. I agree here too, as far as catch and release, I do the same thing, I have no problems with people who eat bass at all, I do it from time to time myself, they are very tasty fish, but what I really really hate is people who kill the fish for no reason other than to have it as a trophy to show off to their friends etc...
  19. That sounds a lot like Anna too !! I havn't had the chance to go with someone who has the latest and greatest sonar to find out how much truth there is to all the stories, I hear there is also a church at the bottom and all kinds of construction equiptment.
  20. Really, it is about time man !!! Nice fish !! Welcome to the forum !!!
  21. I agree, Glenn does a great job in that video !! Think about one more thing while you are learning about the spinner, the spinner is nothing but a fancy jig, all they did was add some blades to it, don't be afraid to fish it like a jig.
  22. That is what this forum is all about. If you think about it, next time you post, give us specific info on the equiptment you are using as well, ie baits, weights, rods etc..., we can get a little deeper and give you more detailed advise on what we can help you with also. Good luck and be safe !!!
  23. I don't know, I think I would be happy with any of them, Shaw I think would be a lot of fun, Gerald is someone I would love to meet, that dude is nutts in front of the camera, I can only imagine what he would be like in person.
  24. Nice job Quanjig !!!! I picked me up some shortly after our conversation on here, I have not had the chance to use them yet but seeing your post I am kinda excited to get out there and give them a toss or two. I am taking the family over to the maple festival tomorrow and I leave for Pa on sunday but im shooting for the following weekend to do some fishing.
  25. I Forgot all about that !! I did talk to some of the locals there, I do not know if it is still the same but they said to fish about 30 feet deep and they will find you. There are some pretty good size trout, and pictures all over the place to prove it, a lot of them seem to be huge brown trout.
