  1. If it is gone you need to take a good look inside and make sure the piece did not break off and is in the combustion chamber or it could cause you some pretty severe problems ok. Are you able to post pics? If you are I would like to see the plug you took out.
  2. That very well could be your problem, replace it and see if that takes care of it.
  3. One of the best crankbait answers I have seen Sam nice job!!! Sam's number 1 is my favorite!! as far as what causes us to pick up a crank in any given situation is just a lot of time and work on the water, which you will learn I am sure of that, so take Sam up on his advice, Learn all you can and crank your heart out x2. My favorite time of year to use cranks are the fall months around cover.
  4. Cool !!!! I know exactly where you are talking about good job guy's!!!! I hope you have some better luck the next time your there. I don't know what it is about that lake but it drives me absolutely NUTTS sometimes when I can't get a pattern established. She has been so stinking mean to me over the past five years but I have finally learned a lot of her little secrets now I just need to work on some of her bigger ones lol, I think thats why I like it so much...she is a pain in my a## but I love her anyway.
  5. Did you check compression?
  6. NICE FISH!!! There is a lot of them up there just like that one and bigger too, If you don't mind me asking what were you guys using for bait? It's hard to fish for them though when you are more concentrated on surviving the boat wakes rather than just being able to fish, you will enjoy the months to come though if you just hang in there, Late September early to late October the boat traffic won't be near as bad and are some of the best months to fish Anna as long as it's not too windy. Yep it's pretty rough this time of year people have no idea what they do to a little boat nor do they care I could get into a whole new post about stupidity on the water but we will save that for another day. The set backs cost me close to 2 grand, the fridge itself was 1200.00 bucks OUCH!!! There is a get together at Briery on the 30th and now I don't know if I can make it but hopefully I will have enough just to go for the day. I have already saved enough for vacation at Anna I may have to cut that short too. Hopefully you get up and running again this weekend if you need any help let me know.
  7. I usually throw a small swim bait in shad colors or a suspending jerk bait.
  8. Swim baits and jigs for me!!!
  9. Hula poppin around lilly pads and grass lines EARLY in the AM. AAAAHHHHHH nothing beats the sound of top water hits in the morning.
  10. PHEW!!! Sounds like you had it rough, Im so sorry to hear about that. You got back safe and sound and no one got hurt thats the main thing, Let me know if I can help in any way. My trip went much like yours, As far as the camper was concerned anyway. We arrived at Buggs a little after 11 pm...Had to leave from work and I didn't get off until 6:00 so we left around 7:30 when we got to my friend of a friends house we set up camp, hooked up the electric and smoke started rolling from everything. The friend of a friend that hosted us wired up the boxes for 220 instead of 115...Ha! thats what they make surge protectors for and I was in such a hurry I did not hook mine up...DUMMY !!! Lost the microwave and the fridge and the power inverter...needless to say it was a long night. Not the friend of a friends fault we sent him pics but they do look like dryer plugs lol. My friends camper lost his inverter for no reason at all, So the next morning we went fishing...Buggs Island is AWESOME by the way...For about an hour and 45 minutes. Keep in mind my friend and I always are trying to better one another and he was talking trash the whole week prior about how bad he was going to beat me and make me look stupid, so guess who came out on top...YEP!! 3 to nothing...Just so you know I made him put a pair of my underpants over his head and walk around the joint LOL...by the way it was the pair I wore the night before HA!!!!!! After all of that we went and got the inverters and worked on the campers the rest of the afternoon and went and watched fireworks for the lakefest they have there COOL SHOW !!! On the way back to the house my friend lost his radiator and so it was another long night. I managed to wake up the next morning and take my daughter and absolutely had one of the best fishing mornings one could ask for, I caught 18 in a 4 hour time frame, no big ones like your friends but still all were in the 2 to 3 pound range, a couple of the fish were huge but they missed the the popper, I tried to toss something else just after they missed but no luck. So we left Clarksville and got a call from my friend who lost his radiator and learned he had lost a tire just outside of C-ville and had to wait there for us to come get him. So long story short...The best weekend ever and by far the most expencive!!! Going to lake Anna for vacation in August CANT WAIT!! Forgot to add I lost a bearing buddy too and almost took out a guys windshield...Good thing he was cool about the whole thing. Oh and here is a pic of one of the 2 lb'ers just before my phone died...still don't know what the hell happened there gotta get a new one.
  11. Sure thing just do me a favor and catch some fish will ya lol. Have fun and be safe and don't forget the pics!!!!
  12. When I re-read your post I missed the part of being able to bend the hook with your hand, That says there is somthing going on with your hooks because that should not be. I do not know if the hooks today are made of something softer or not but the 4/0 EWG Gama's that I have been using do not bend near that easy. It makes me want to go buy a pack just to see if they are any different than the ones I am currently using, I have had the ones in my tackle bag for some time now. Is the 4/0 the only size you are having an issue with?
  13. No it's not normal, water should not be getting in there. How old is it?
  14. Wow, I have used these hooks for some time and caught some pretty nice fish and have only bent one but that was to be blamed on me. I use braid for all of my fishing and have never seen a hook bend with fluoro,...makes me want to rethink about using these hooks. Maybe I just don't put the force into a hookset with braid and M/H rod as you describe but it still makes you think twice about the hooks. Thanx for the info!!
  15. To bend a hook on a snag is one thing but with fish it is a different story...must have been some monsters...lol I am guessing here but you most likely used a hook or two that you just straighten from a snag and not only re-bent the hook but most likely dulled it as well. What you need to do is simple make your bait weedless by making sure your hook point is not exposed...this will help keep the snag's from happening in the first place. Most trouble comes when you drag your bait over some sort of cover and you think it's a bite so you set your hook, It takes some time to get used to the feel of different types of cover and structure and even then it is still going to happen from time to time. Keep a fresh hook at the ready and you won't miss any more fish...Well at least it won't be the hooks fault...
  16. It is supposed to be really nice this weekend and it should be some really good fishing at Anna. I don't know if you have ever launched from the state park but if you get there too early they have an honor system at the front entrance so have a 5 and some one's with you, put the money in the envelope and put your tag on your mirror they do check that stuff out to make sure you paid. As you launch look straight across the lake, Just off to your left the waterway for Anna river is what you will see. Go there first, As you enter the mouth of the old river keep to your right, there will be a ton of docks but if I may suggest you should go further up the old river to the first bridge and start there...This is the Christopher Run area. When you are done fishing BOTH sides of that area in front of the bridge and you work your way under the bridge, there are grass areas on the other side, Fish that area REALLY good, Hint: there is a rock bed on the other side of that bridge to your right...Take your time there. Work your way up the old river to the next bridge and fish there really good too, especially the docks and deeper water in front of the docks before the bridge if it's really sunny. Do this and you WILL have a productive day just keep in mind most big bites there are REALLY soft so pay close attention. Post some pics when you get done and let us know how you did, hopefully I will be able to do the same LOL. Good luck and be safe!! And thanx for the well wishes.
  17. Thanx Wayne !!!! I will give them a shout today, No shade but looks like full hook-up's and not a bad price for a night.
  18. You have a web site or phone number by chance? Thanx!!
  19. I have to agree with J here, It sounds like a ground problem but in my area when you start having issues you keep having issues, Go to Wal-Mart or thier web site you can get the whole kit for 30 bucks. Just be sure to check the vehicles plug before you do to be sure its not in that part of the circut.
  20. Thanx!! Are these tent type campsites or for RV camping as well? I am locked for the 30th but I am still unsure of what time I can make it there...I have girls that love to fish but hate to get up and go early...If it's just me I will be there on time, So 6 to 6:30 is good it seems for the rest of you guy's, If it's ok I will catch up with the group at lunch. I look forward to meeting some of you guy's untill then have fun and be safe!!
  21. LOL THATS GOOD STUFF RIGHT THERE!!! Im sorry I had to laugh at that one I have a close friend with neighbors like yours and I swear if I didn't know any better Fishes in trees could be him...Wait are you? Na couldn't be lol.
  22. Have you ever treated your fuel before? It definetly wont hurt and if it makes a change then try another treatment with seafoam right after that untill it gets cleared up then every other tank full. Hope it works for you.
  23. I will make a few calls and see if I can get you some help near you. What kind of problem are you having with it ?
  24. 6 AM is fine with me as long as I can get a campsite somewhere I would have to leave around 3:30 to make it there from my house. Just incase would 7:30 - 8:00 work? maybe have a lunch meet and greet and head back out?
  25. The poll looks like the 30th is good for all so far, as far as where it has not been decided yet but it looks like Briery has the most votes. If it is ok with all can we go ahead with Briery on the 30th and are we going to do a meet and greet or just show up and fish when we get there, what time etc...
