Early Heat In Virginia
Well...I was going to lake Anna for the week but a work buddy invited me to go to Kerr lake the third weekend in july. So needless to say I have never been there either and have been wanting to go for a really long time so I am just going to stay and work around the house and save the money for that trip. Still may go to Anna for a day, Not real sure yet...I just can't get enough of that lake for some reason lol. Anyway you are welcome and Thanx for the well wishe's and I will look forward to scheduling a day to go fishing with ya at Briery Creek.

If I may interupt, Where is Briery Creek? I have never fished there but there is so much talk about it I would like to give it a go I think. Is it electric only? And how much for just the day?

Help A Me Out With Middle Of The Day Fishing?
Good suggestion!! Yes stay in the middle and head toward the creek opening fish slow and fish deep, bounce the jig off of the bottom (count your bounces...if they hit on the third one for example keep repeting that) or try swimming it. If that doesn't work try some other deep or deeper water tactics or simply head toward the shore and cast toward deeper water and bring the bait toward you. Good luck and be safe!!

Lake With Very Weedy Bottom
Try a lipless crankbait and bring it along the top of the grass and as it starts to get hung rip it. But the key is to maintain contact with the top of the grass.

Need Help With Kerr Lake
Cool!! I think I am going down there with a lot of jigging in mind, A couple of friends I have, Had fished there several times and they say it's a great way to land some monsters but as suicidenemisis stated I am going to take the blue/black with me but I am going to take him up on his GP suggestion. The lake is so big from what I hear though I just don't know where to start but I guess I will put in and start from there lol. Let us know how you did. Good luck and be safe!!!

Lilly Pads...
I do not know if you have ever tried "hopping" a buzzbait from pad to pad but it works pretty darn good for me. I will hop it from pad to pad and buzz it across an opening and they will usually nail it in the opening.

Need Help With Kerr Lake
That's the same weekend I will be there but I am not in the tourny, since we both have never fished it before I just wanted to wish you the best of luck.

Wayne P. I fish Anna A lot and I know they are there usually this time of year around dike 3 especially and I have picked them up in the past but I was wondering if I should upgrade to a more modern sonar any suggestions would be a big help. Thanks in advance and sorry if I got a little carried away back there to all, I have a tendency to get carried away sometimes. lol...almost 50 and still get excited when guys like you and Sam talk to us about fishing.

Early Heat In Virginia
You know speaking of thermoclines, I have never been able to pick that up on mine, well at least not like the instruction manual says to adjust for it. I have a Lowrance X 96 could it be my transducer ?

First Time Boater Tips
All very good advice, Just remain calm and like everyone has stated we have all had to go through the first time of doing it by ourselves. Keep your thinking cap on, Take your time no matter how many people are there, and remind yourself that you are confident and can do this no problem. Make a check list and go through it the night before so you have everything you need and if you must, Go ahead and check things off as you put the boat in, just like a grocery list. The good thing about this is that you are starting with a light boat. Make one mental note as you back the boat in...Note the water line on the trailer (how deep the trailer is in the water) as the back of the boat starts to lift off of the trailer, That way when you load the boat you will be in good shape and make it much easier on yourself. Good luck and be safe!!! Oh and let us know how you did.

Early Heat In Virginia
Remember what I said about keeping an open mind and paying close attention to what these guys have to offer ? Right here is a perfect example for you !! Wayne P. YOU ARE THE MAN !!!( Did you ever get around to cleaning that boat of yours...lol )

Early Heat In Virginia
Fishing deep or deeper than you are used to requires patience and focus on your part. You may have already had big fish take your lure and didn't even know it they are sooooo soft when big ones pick up your lure and getting used to that feeling takes time. For me the best thing I can tell you is keep reading and keep trying because once you get a couple you won't regret it. Good luck and be safe!!!

Early Heat In Virginia
I am not familure with your lake but the trouble with most fishermen today is they will not move off of the banks which is a good thing at times but as the water temp rises the bigger bass tend to also move deeper not at a fast rate mind you because it takes a long time for the fish to adjust to different depths. So keep an open mind and start using your tools and think about what a lot of these people have to offer you in here. Start fishing deeper and slower and you should be able to have some fun. Also if I may suggest you may want to read the articals that are part of this forum, they contain a load of info that can really help you along the way. Good luck and be safe !!!

Getting to know the BassResource Staff
That is just a handful of people doing a perfect job at giving ALL of us the most information available in one site, I for one have learned soooooooo much from the amazing people and their skills on this one site than I think I could reading 20 years of Bassmaster mag's. Glenn and supporting staff, AWESOME JOB !!! Amazing people = Amazing results and I just don't think you ALL get enough credit for what you have created and what you keep maintained. I hope to someday get the chance to go to one of your trips and meet some of you...Smith Mountain Lake...Hint...Hint. So I can say thank you in person. Great job all!!!

The Last Cast
I really never did call out "last cast" but just like you I guess there would be a few more added on to the last one...lol. I have however thrown my line out when it is time to go home knowing there was only time for another cast or two and caught some nice fish along the way and it truly does make for a great way to end a fishing day and a better ride home.
