  1. WOW that's a lot of boats!! I agree with you thats why I only caught 4 fish that day. It is very difficult to catch fish on days like this, is it because the traffic drives them deeper or is it because it gets them confused or both?
  2. Good post ROLO but I have always been taught that it was the size of their scales rather than how many, is there any truth to that? Here are 2 different pics of LMB from my lake which has been introduced with Florida strain bass a long time ago. The one on the right has much larger scales.
  3. This would work!!!...just a little illegal in my state but still very effective lol but this is like taking your worst 4 lane highway and standing smack dab in the middle of all the traffic making them go around you...Ha it reminded me of that video game Frogger watching the boaters try to get from one side to the other without getting splatted. I wish I would have took some pics it was CRAZY out there the worst I think I have ever seen that place.
  4. Rough water sometimes gets the fish to react differently some of the bait fish will get confused and if you can be lucky enough to be around that fishing from the bank it will give you the advantage. The rougher water will also make the fish sometimes stage just offshore in a little deeper water looking for a quick snack from anything that gets washed in from the waves. On really windy days it's good to be a shoreline fisher tossing in a buzzbait or something simular and bringing it along the bank especially if you are in a rocky or grassy area. There is a good bit of info on this in the articals I suggest you read up on them if I may and you will have to adapt your own technique to some of them but none the less you will enjoy the material and learning something new to try the next time out. Good luck and be safe and let us know how you did after you try it!!
  5. Nitro Budweiser Thats all I need!!!
  6. LOL NO S###!! Thats Funny buddy!!! In all honesty I fish that lake a LOT and have never seen it so bad that the boats in the back of the coves were taking a pretty good beating.
  7. Rain is like a giant aerator and should have got some of those fish excited enough to hit. Especially around the lilly pads, try a SPRO frog or a small buzzbait the next time or even a hula popper around that area. Good luck and be safe!!
  8. X2 But I would say every angler should carry these products! As far as non fishing items that I have purchased that really exceeded my expectations, The Bible.
  9. I was on my favorite lake this past Sunday doing a little fishing and the morning started out great!!! But after about an hour the boat traffic started to get pretty heavy and of course it included some of the village IDIOTS that did not even slow down for NO WAKE zones. As the day progressed you could not get close to fishing even the coves the water just simply got that rough, I even saw some of the bigger boats catching air. Needless to say I stayed and only managed to catch 4 fish but it got me thinking about what you guy's do in situations like that on other bodies of water. I know I should have packed it up and gone home but then I had seen the boats out there that were trying to fish a tourny and most of them had no choice but to fish the banks. With the water being that rough and the boat traffic that heavy I cant help but wonder at that point does one guy fish and the other try to keep the boat where you need it and watch for other boaters? What do you do to hold your concentration in situations like these and still manage to catch fish?
  10. Water temps,Fishing pressure,Boat traffic,O2 levels, food source,Just to name a few. There is a long list of reasons but keep reading the articals and you will find so much more that will help you to understand a lot of these reasons and how to fish these sometimes difficult day's.
  11. Gottcha!! I was bouncing a lipless on a rock pile near an old creek bed in 18' and just changed my rhythm a very small amount and lost the bite completely even after going back to it had no effect. Thanx J. I guess it just happens from time to time but that was the second time I had that happen.
  12. While we are on a rhythm post I have a question. If you are getting bite's on a rhythm but they are slow, do you stay with that rhythm or would you change it up?
  13. Every day is a school day!!! I always thought that plane was to control the swimming motion on a lipless and the weight of the lure was to help achieve the depth needed. Thanx Catt, thats a great post!!!
  14. I like to do homework first especially if the lake is new to me. Time of day and all that other stuff all comes into play when I get to a spot I have decided on and get a first hand look at what options are available.
  15. LOL I know some of the folk that catch or try to fish for Walleye at my favorite lake are a little...Well shall we say off just a little but fun to be around. Why do you ask?
  16. Hope you guy's had a lot of fun and I am sorry i missed out on all the action. I was really looking forward to meeting with you all, I hope you all try again sometime in the near future.
  17. Wayne what are all of those light gray blotches on the screen?
  18. I wish I was more familure with the area you are refering too but since you described where you are fishing all I can offer is what worked for me. Look for rocks on the shore line chances are there will be rock cover under the water as well and what I would try is fishing about 20 yards off shore early in the am and fish parellel for the first couple of hours then move deeper as the day progresses. As for what baits to throw I wasn't there long enough to figure out what really worked but I was throwing a hula popper early and switched to shakey heads with green pumpkin 11" worms and sexy shads in the middle of the day untill I ran out of time and caught an ok amount of fish, I loved being there it really is a great looking lake. Good luck and be safe and have a great vacation!!!
  19. I would take Wayne up on his advise!!! I did not get to fish as much as I had hoped for last weekend but most of the water I had fished was less than 20' deep and top water worked really well in that range. They were all around cover either close to shore or out in the middle...there is a lot of timber out in the water back in the coves that I got to fish so be careful if you are not familure with the place.
  20. WOW!!! I wish I could have made it out that far when I was there this past weekend.
  21. My favorite lake to fish has a nick name of "One Fish Anna" Im not sure where that name originated from but never the less the lake will produce some big fish if you know how to fish it. Just like any body of water you must do your homework and go out and fish it to really find out for yourself. Also with any well kept secret the locals are the ones I really cant blame for wanting to keep its fishery alive for generations to come if it really does hold some good fishing. If it's worth a fishing trip then by all means spend a day there and find out for yourself.
  22. Ha thats pretty cool, My daughter told me the same thing a few years back. We were on the boat and the fish hit so hard it almost pulled the rod out of my hands and caused me to take a step witch in turn rocked the boat a little. Glad to hear you take your children and thanks for sharing!!
