Central VA meet & greet/fishing?
I know, I may have been misunderstood, all I'm saying is that we often talk about doing something like this, there was once that we tried or talked about doing one each year in a different part of the state, periodically there is a thread that pops up for a meet and greet and you never know where it will be. You haven't picked a location or voiced an opinion as to where you would like it to be, you have an idea?

Central VA meet & greet/fishing?
It seems there is always interest in doing this, it is a good time and I believe you will enjoy it, I know first hand of the hard work and long hours of our farmers, while I may have only a handful of years invested, you have a lifetime, we are grateful for you and your families hard work. We will try our best to do this from time to time and could even possibly try more than one, who knows, keep an eye out !!!

Learning to read lake maps
As you learn about structure and there will be many valuable posts to this thread I feel, there is no better visual than a rig you choose to feel what's on the bottom, it transmits the continuation of what you see above the water level, while you are learning about structure I think it's important to note what you are able to see above the water line as well, the angle of the ground as it enters the water, the placement of assorted rock and the size, the ground itself, sandy, pebble, clay and so on, clues to possiblly aid in finding key elements that will attract fish when you search and explore primary structure. These will be clues that can offer valuable information in addition to what you will see on maps.

How to fish the first few 80 degree sunny days
Post spawn will have the bass pretty well exhausted, I look for quiet, shady, secluded places along areas of a body of water that the bass have used to spawn, bluffs, docks, coves, this is a period of time where you have a few different things going on at the same time, some are just moving in to spawn, some have spawned and moved out or are resting in these secluded and shaded areas, bluegills or pan fish are moving in to feed and spawn as well, some will be actively roaming picking off a meal here and there so you will just have to determine what the pattern is, if it's a shallow pattern and there are a lot of anglers, move out just a bit from all the pressure and look around.

Lizard Questions
The only time I really use Lizards is when I am tossing a C-Rig around or using a pegged weight, it's not that it's not effective on a T-Rig because it is, I just prefer my T-Rig to be used for my slower presentations, as for your retrieve question, it can be any number of ways and as others have stated, you have to find out what the fish want or the way they want it, most of the time it's just a smooth sweep of the rod, starting out sweeping fast enough to allow the weight to barely make contact with the bottom then slowing down just to the point that the tail and appendages are moving, maybe a pause or two in there for good measure or a twitch or two.

I think I can help decipher what you have here. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> Obviously this is a text type document, ok, so far so good. <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"/> <title>00 mod has sent you a message</title> <style type="text/css"> It appears here that 00 has used his head to send you a message, makes sense so far. #outlook a {padding:0;} body{width:100% !important; -webkit-text-size-adjust:100%; -ms-text-size-adjust:100%; margin:0; padding:0;} .ExternalClass {width:100%;} .ExternalClass, .ExternalClass p, .ExternalClass span, .ExternalClass font, .ExternalClass td, .ExternalClass div {line-height: 100%;} #backgroundTable {margin:0; padding:0; width:100% !important; line-height: 100% !important;} It appears here that he is sending some type of protection warning about protecting your body with external class padding that is laying on the table in the background. img {outline:none; text-decoration:none; -ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic;} a img {border:none;} .image_fix {display:block;} p {margin: 1em 0;} h1 { color: white !important; } h2, h3, h4, h5, h6 {color: #333333 !important;} Obviously the color white is important, I'm assuming he is referring to the padding on the table in the background? h1 a:active, h2 a:active, h3 a:active, h4 a:active, h5 a:active, h6 a:active { color: red !important; } I think it's obvious here that he congratulates you on living a very active lifestyle and thinks the red shirt your wearing is important. h1 a:visited, h2 a:visited, h3 a:visited, h4 a:visited, h5 a:visited, h6 a:visited { color: purple !important; } Looks like he has come to visit you on several occasions wearing the important purple color, not sure however if he is admitting to you that he is in fact, the real tooth fairy... table td {border-collapse: collapse;} table { border-collapse:collapse; mso-table-lspace:0pt; mso-table-rspace:0pt; } Obviously the table in the background collapsed. a {color: #4a8aca;} /* Unhides cells that we set to hide in the HTML in case the client doesn't support style properly */ *[class~=hidePhone] { display : block !important; width : auto !important; max-height: inherit !important; overflow : visible !important; float : none !important; } *[class~=hidePhone][width="30"] { width: 30px !important; } *[class~=hidePhone][width="40"] { width: 40px !important; } td[class~=hidePhone] { display: table-cell !important; } @media only screen and (max-device-width: 480px) { a[href^="tel"], a[href^="sms"] { text-decoration: none; color: blue; pointer-events: none; cursor: default; } .mobile_link a[href^="tel"], .mobile_link a[href^="sms"] { text-decoration: default; color: orange !important; pointer-events: auto; cursor: default; }" Not sure about this part, it's repeated several times how important it is to hide your phone, or maybe it's telling you to paint your phone to disguise it, or he could be telling you to put down your phone and grab a bag of skittles... Recap, 00Mod left you a message about all the white body padding he left for you on the table that had collapsed in the background while coming to retrieve a tooth you left under your pillow in the purple outfit he was wearing and took notice of the red shirt you were sleeping in that proclaimed you lived an active lifestyle and that he painted your phone and then hid it from you because it contained evidence of him in his purple winged outfit, he was also trying to let you know that these were hard times and that a monetary offering was not possible at this time so he slipped a bag of skittles under your pillow.

Hey all you duffers and hackers
I never took that game seriously, it always involved at least one cooler full of beer. He is one of the greats in that sport, sorry to hear of his misfortune but I guess it just goes to show how bad things can get from time to time, even pro's aren't immune from having terrible days.

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
March has been a month to remember for the amount of fronts we are experiencing and now April seems to be copying the same pattern, It seems last year our fronts would come through right as the weekend approached but this year it seems to be every second or third day, the wind has really not stopped blowing at my house with the exception of just a couple of days the last month and a half.

Merle Haggard
Always a great song, I believe he could have sang the phone book and made it a number one hit. My father introduced me to his music way, way back, my first song I learned to play on the guitar was Silver Wings, I watched a show on TV called Moving On with Claud Akins and Frank Converse, I couldn't wait for the show to come on because I loved the song he sang, mostly because it had my name in it (Sonny) LOL but, I would pick up my Uncles Fender Telecaster and play along every time. So many great hits from him that if I had to choose a favorite, I don't think I could.

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
I am taking it pretty seriously this year as well, been to Anna a bunch of times and haven't even got a line wet, the last two years I had only wet a line when I took out Veterens or family, this year I hope to improve by a big margin, I've studied structure, bait, bass and the behavior and growth of the bait and bass in Anna, I have kept an almost diary like log of everything. Your doing a fantastic job Matt and your videos are really entertaining !!! Great job Nitro !!!

Got the news today of the passing of this legend, the report included that today was also his 79th birthday. A tremendous talent who wrote over 700 songs and made a huge impact in country music as well as a lot of lives, your music will live on Hag! Thoughts and prayers are sent out to family and friends, truly a great loss, may God bless and be with you all.

Central VA meet & greet/fishing?
For those who wish to have a boater/non boater event like this post. NOTE: this event would take some planning and would most likely be held toward the end of this year.

Central VA meet & greet/fishing?
Let's try it this way and see what we get first if you don't mind me helping W/C. How about an input on how many will be willing to attend a bank beater event sometime in May/June? We need a show of hands here for ALL who would attend, it's important so that we pick the right place. For those interested and for the sake of having a hundred posts to sort through simply like this post. NOTE: both this post and the one below will be given two weeks to gather votes.

Shakeyhead technique question
There are sometimes techniques within a technique, there is also a proven baseline within each as well, a baseline is thought and also proven to be simply shaking your rod tip with a shakey head which is very effective but, you can also slowly drag it across the structural area as well and be just as effective, same for another technique, jig fishing or example, just because a football head type jig performs very well when slowly dragged over structure and cover does not mean that it is it's only means of attracting attention, sometimes you have a pattern the fish like better, one hop, drag, two hops, pause and so on, you simply found what the fish wanted from your presentation, good job !!! Keep this experience in the back of your mind and store it for similar outings and conditions that you used on that day, it may repeate itself.
