  1. Way to keep after it, thanks for sharing !!!
  2. Great outing man and thanks for sharing !!!
  3. Before this thread my CB fishing wasn't where I felt comfortable, I have done just good enough to keep me focused but defiantly frustrated, now I can take them anywhere and have a lot more confidence, my deep cranking still needs work, I am looking forward to the work however knowing how much this thread has helped, thanks for the in depth input !!!!
  4. This is a humbling sport we find comfort in isn't it. Who knows what really could have been after those bait fish, may not have been bass at all, could have been another preditor fish, as for your question, it's always good to finesse your way around a body of water, get to know the technique inside and out, figure out that particular body of waters major color ( what color the fish tend to bite the most ) and play with variations within that base color, example could be, green pumpkin with pepper flake, a variation would be a tail dipped in a Chartreuse dye, maybe on a bright sunny day they like a green pumpkin candy color bait and so on, first things first though, get to know each technique intimately, it builds confidence and from there the learning curve gets a lot shorter.
  5. I have one that each time we go to the lake we have to make a competition out of the day, along with a LOT of smack talk, it's all fun and games, that is until you beat him, last year we managed 5 trips, we finished up 3 to 2, his favor, one trip we used his boat, I fished from the back and skunked him 5 to zip, I never heard so many excuses in all my life...
  6. Works well in Va. hope it works for you too !!!
  7. Good stuff Chop ! I would also add that if your fishing them deep or using a long cast, and or both, that you may need to check your rod strength and type of line you are using, too soft and you wont get the stout hooks to penetrate, I like to use a medium heavy action rod with fluorocarbon line. You beat me to it LOL , you can delete my post if you want.
  8. Well, there's always the bar scene I guess LOL !!! Glad to hear you had a good outing Dave, I'm also glad we didn't try and venture out because I believe everyone would have been miserable, it's always safer to error on the side of caution anyway IMO, I will remain hopeful that we can all get together and enjoy a day on the water sometime soon, wherever that may end up being.
  9. I got up this morning and checked outside and really??? I thought they ( weather peeps ) got it all wrong, it was dead calm at the house this morning and I almost hopped in the truck and headed for the Quan, by 7am it had already picked up, where I live, it's like a straight shot off of the West Virginia mountains and with nothing between us it got going pretty good, how was it down y'all's way today? Anyone make it out ?
  10. Both! Both work well when conditions meet the need for each application.
  11. Good stuff in this post, I would include focusing on various areas of structure that normally hold fish during pre/post spawn, rock piles, brush piles in the areas of good structure that the bass use to travel, stage and spawn, muddy water will tend to make the fish cling tight to these small little feature areas when their vision is limited to short distances, if it suddenly muddied up while in some sort of staging pattern it may take a day or two for them to bite unless you can put your presentation right in front of them.
  12. Congrats on a great outing and don't worry about the pics, there's a bass in the mix and it's a good report so it's all good!!! Thanks for sharing !!!
  13. Great looking set-up and fish to boot !!!! Congrats !!!
  14. Awesome job Hootie and thanks for sharing !!!
  15. New River Outdoors in Pembroke, check them out and see if that's what your looking for bud.
  16. Your welcome, we look forward to seeing the results and input you have, mostly we look forward to seeing how much fun you will have being back on the water. Good luck, be safe and God bless !!
  17. Who's to say those were the same ones that bit the first time Don't forget to make mental and physical notes of the total area and conditions !!!
  18. See, it's fun ain't it !!! Congrats, really nice job !!!
  19. That does not mean that that's the only time they will have a negative reaction, I have had baits that will negatively react to heat or direct sunlight while tied onto the rod after being fished as well, even after being stored in the rod locker overnight also, so IMO it's about personal preference how one keeps their tackle, any bait can have a negative reaction to something, admittedly, helping the sun cook these baits back to their somewhat original form via a plastic box doesn't help LOL !!
  20. Your first step was the best thing you could have ever done, you joined us here, welcome to BR. secondly, just get out and enjoy the time you have on the water, don't over complicate things at first, there is a ton to learn, we have videos, articles and always there are these forums, worms and creature baits are an excellent start, from there you can start to get comfortable with different ways to rig each. good luck and be safe !!!
  21. So far you have 4 single inputs for location with one possibly ruled out. Echo (maybe) Chesdin Burke Eagles Landing
  22. This is what my weather report says for Saturday into Saturday night.
  23. I have a co-worker who's cousin fishes there a lot, I should be able to get some good reliable info from him if he knows anyone.
  24. As with any technological advance, they take time, time to develop and time to accept, some get accepted right away, others, not so much. While this particular advance has certainly helped people, such as in your case, with a positive impact, technology is doing what it's supposed to do, which is move forward and create better user friendly products and improvements that allow enhancements to ones quality of life, who can truly say that they will be using this in the future because the future is wide open in the technological sense of things, what's new today is old tomorrow, that's about the gist of just how fast technology is changing. I can see the possibilities of something like this aiding some of our anglers ( tournament or otherwise) who do suffer from various issues or those who are handicapped in some ways, regardless, the choice is out there for those who wish to take advantage of it right now, if it had an advantage over another angler I believe it would already be in use by quite a few IMO.
  25. I agree the best times to try a new bait is when the fish are active, I don't however dismiss the bait if it does not produce in an area I first use the bait, I will attempt several areas and try as many changes in water conditions as I can before I put it in a box for an attempt on a different body of water.
