  1. Since Christmas, I've been reading my scale completely wrong. I just looked at the numbers, and said, oh only 1 and 1/2 pounds? Sure feels like more. Well, those were KG. I didn't figure this out until today, when i realized those were KG, and the lb's were hidden in really small numbers on the outer perimeter. So my average for this year is not 1.5 lbs, its about 3- 3.5, Give or take a bit. Thank you Berkeley for making a scale that confused me and my Dad for 9 months So make sure you know to read your scale!!!!
  2. So today after coming home from work with my Dad after being dropped off by my mom, we decided to go toss the pole for a little while. Not really expecting much of a bite because it was hot (89*F) and the water we fish is quite shallow. Doesn't get any deeper than 2-3 ft as far as you can wade into it. Got there around 4, My Dad started off with a solid 2 lber. Healthy fish, back in the water ya' go. The fishing (to say it modestly) sucked from then on for about 20 minutes. So my Dad decided he wanted to move down to a new set of rocks. (Aquia Beach, for anyone who's been there knows what im talking about.) So while he was at the new rocks I decided to follow. I was halfway there when he shouted to me, "Got another!" So needlessy I ran over to go gander at the ole' mossy back. Another fish, this time a 3. So we stayed on these rocks for the rest of the day. My Dad caught 2 more 3lb-ers before I finally managed to get a fish. A solid 3 1/2. Then when I was BSing with my Dad making fun of stuff and not paying attention/working my worm(Important for the later part of the story), what would be the biggest fish of my life slammed my senko. I was so shocked I never really got a good hookset on him. So I pulled him up to the weed bed which starts about 9 feet out, and then he vanished spitting my senko back at me, hook point barely expose but my senko only holding on by a bit of plastic. Only briefly did I see this Bucket mouth (Thank god for Costa Del Mar's! ). At that time my anger got the best of me and I was swinging my rod at the water saying about every 4 letter word I knew. So maybe 15 minutes later the sun is going down and we're thinking maybe fifteen more minutes. Then my Dad noticed a loop in his line (Spining reel) so he launched his senko out as far as he could to see if he could cast it out, but he still had to take line off the get to the loop. While trying to undo it it just knotted up, so he was just gonna reel it in then cut it out when he got home. So he reels up his 50 feet or so on slack line, as we all do, super fast. So he was reeling it in super fast, and then all of a sudden when his slack was gone and he reeled up to the bait it was just a BRICK. We thought he had a log until his drag (set at about 15 lbs) started to peel. He spent a good 2 minutes reeling it in, because for 1, it was a full cast distance away, and 2, he only had 10# line. So he started reeling it in slowly and then this thing jumped. I still have the picture perfect mental photographs in my mind. It jumped and that big ole' bucket mouth looking at me with his tail curved to his left. Picture perfect. Then me being me, I had to coach him getting it in. I told him to keep his rod tip low and keep reeling to keep pressure on him incase he jumps again so he wouldn't throw the hook. The he got him to the afore mentioned weedbed. We were both scared the fish might get too burried in the thick milfoil and we'd never see him again. So we slooooooowwwllyyyy pulled him through that deadly ten feet. He. Was. Humongous. And all the while I'm coaching my dad he doesn't lose the fish, I'm going completely Ike on rocks that are hard enough to stand on already. Holy **** ! Oh My God! He Such a bleep bleep HOG! Then my Dad tried to swing him with his 10# Vanish and I was like OH NO! So I held his rod whiled he lipped it. Hook out and all, he was a 13 lber. After that we basically screamed like little girls causing the only other fisherman there to look. After that he basically said "I'm done." So we took 3 pics in the terrible lighting, and walked foot deep into the water so it was deep enough we could get some water in her. After that we say the biggest fish ever seen slowly swim away, to be caught again Now why does it matter that I caught a humongous fish that got away? I think I may have had a shot at the fish first. How often is there more than one 10+ lbers with in 10 feet of each other? Well, besides the BPS tank It felt so good to see him catch a 10+ fish(Which I've never done, and His PB before today was a 6 or so) on a bait he first for the first time ever, especially on my recommendation. Which I know if he didn't catch a fish within the first 30 minutes of using that senko, he would've changed up and probably never used it again. Now it's his absolute favorite lure. "Senko's, not just for dinks anymore." So now it's time to show you the pictures, and to submit them to Bassmaster's Lunker Club. Im sure my dad will love to see your reactions and what you all have to say. Also, he's holding the fish close to his body. Not way out like alot of people, me included, do. So that why it looks a bit smaller. Also, this outing spawned a new JuJu rule for whenever we fish. Nobody goes to grab a scale until you landed the fish and it in your hands. Or as we now call it "Counting your lb's before you catch em'". As soon as I was semi-fighting what I think to be the same fish, my dad immediately went to get a scale and the fish spit it when he went to go get it. So now it's a JuJu rule.
  3. I use red hooks with red colored baits. Not that I get more fish, but I like to match
  4. Overthinking it alot. Of course weight matters. Lighter is better. Lighter with a good balance is even better. Split-grip vs Full Grip is completely preference. Are you going to be doing real flipping? or do you mean pitching? People often confuse them. I want an absolute broomstick for flipping.XH/XF. I want a slightly softer tip for pitching. A H/F. A good length is probably 7'6". I wouldn't go under 7'. I would look at the Falcon Bucoo line-up. They are excellent rods at the $100 price point. If you can save a little more for a Powell I guarantee you will love it.
  5. I really like the ACS reel seat, but I really only like it for tip-down techniques. If i'm wormin' or jigging, pitching, etc where my tip will be up, i'll take the ECS all day. Also I hate those painted reel seats. The clear coat is just terrible because once my hands get sweaty, the grips get sorta sticky ? They get a nasty feel to them though. I kinda like fully exposed reel seats too, but i think I would only use them for uuber light rods, light fishing techniques.
  6. Nobodies said Angry Birds yet?
  7. "Contrary to popular belief, SHIMANO is not the answer to everything." Quoted for emphasis. It's someone's sig, just dont remember who atm.

  9. Good question. I think I just like the US too much (Fishing wise) to go anywhere else. I like speaking english Very intriguing question though.
  10. Only way to find out is to try it.
  11. Is it the iPhone, or the iPod touch. Becuase with the iPhone you use internet, through your phone company. You need wifi with the iPod touch.
  12. You shouldn't have to update your phone to charge it. It probably just wants to update software for something else. If you look at the battery bar it should still charge without a driver update.
  13. Starts off just fun fishing, then ends up both of us playing in the water.
  14. Me being the sanitation nazi I am, I would never eat anything cooked that way, or serve anything cooked that way. That is SOOO un-sanitary.
  15. I had some lady offer to buy me and my girlfriend alcohol after we got out of the movies. I'm guessing she just turned 21 and wanted to be "cool". I dont know if that classifies as her selling me anything though?
  16. I'd like an invite if you would please
  17. Whats google music?
  18. The brush hog bite has been hot on the Potomac in less than 3-4 FOW.3/8 oz weight, braid with fluoro leader, and a 4/0 Gammy has been producing. Simply pitch to hole in vegitation. Let sink. Twitch twitch. Reel in fish
  19. Well if the sensitivity of the Lowrider and the Conolon are the same, why would you get a down-graded Falcon, the Original, over a Conolon? It would be cheaper to just get another Conolon since the sensitivity is the same to you. They have a 7'6" H that would be fine for c-rigs. Also, a M will not be great for c-rigging. Thats a heavy weight technique and you want the right rod for it. You said however you don't like heavier rods because they feel like Pool Cues. That only happens with cheaper, heavier, thicker rods. The more money you spend, the smaller and lighter your rod will be, and not feel like a pool cue. For $100 my money is going to be on the Falcon Bucoo. The lizard dragger model is a perfect c-rig stick and is pretty light. Great tip action for c-rigs. Also, a more flexible tip IMO has nothing to do with sensitivity. Sensitivity gas to do with how well the vibrations transfer throughout the blank and into your hands. A moderate action and extra-fast action should be the same sensitivity provided its the same rod Also, if your buddy had broke several lowriders on hooksets, im inclined to believed it's him, not the rod. Maybe the blank was compromised from a ding or something. That will usually cause the characteristic gun shot when it shatters on a hookset. I'd also recommend a quality reel for your rod. Your going to want to feel every tick and bump, tell what type of bottom your going over, etc. Thats kinda hard when all you can feel is your reel grinding. I'd say pick up a 6.x:1 gear ratio reel for it too. Maybe a closeout Citica for like $40 or a BPS PQ. I'd highly recommend a Powell as mentioned above. Wait for the Labor Day sale and snag it up. Dont want to sound harsh, sorry if it comes off that way. Just want to help you out
  20. Bunch of lowlifes they are.
  21. Could you please elaborate? Because any falcon rod will blow a Conolon out of the water.
  22. Now the question is, are you happy for the California team, or feel bad for Japan.
  23. Update. I just won using Auction Sniper Hope you use your 3 new bids for something good J Scored a Nike CEO lacrosse head (For anyone who plays and wants to know) for $51 dollars! Saved about $35 Good thing I added an increment option. Thanks for the help guys. I never thought of looking for tackle either on eBay, I know how i'll be using a lot of money now!. There are some GREAT deals on very nice baits like Lucky Craft and Jackall, etc.
  24. The average price is about 55.
