  1. Hockey fans care.....
  2. Mainly squarebills, with an occasional shallow-mid depth regular bill thrown in. I do see they have specific sq. bill rod, but 170 is just more than I can spend right now, 119 is much better on me at the moment.
  3. WOOOOOO!!! I've been waiting for so long! C A P S CAPS CAPS CAPS!
  4. Thanks for your opinion on it, it looks like next paycheck i'll have a tube from *** if Green Top doesn't have them in stock
  5. 170 is just a little too much for me right now.
  6. Affordable is different in everybodies eyes, a specific price range would help alot.
  7. I looked at the Powell Diesel, but I'd like something a little shorter around the 6'8"-6'10" mark.
  8. Hey guys, my new years bass resolution was to use more crankbait, and by that I mean mostly squarebills and an occasional small depth regular crankbait. What I really need help on for this rod is experience with the actions of rods out there, because I dont currently have the luxury of a "good" tackle shop nearby, so it will have to be ordered through TW or something of the like. I know what i'm looking for, but just need help finding the action I want. I generally use about 3/8 to 5/8 oz cranks, and in moderate cover, so Im thinking a true MH, with a pretty fast tip to rip them out, but something a little softer through out the middle portion of the rod to help with fighting the fish. I am taking a good look at the Powell Endurance 6'9" MH/MF, seeing as its only $119 right now, and I am very fond of Powell's offerings. However, I am open to other options, especially if I can get it and play with it at BPS or Green Top (Nice store, by BPS, VA members will know). I'd like to keep under $140 dollars right now, that about as much as I can spend including shipping because I'm helping to pay some medical bills ATM. I'm also thinking about pairing it with a Lexa reel, and 15# InvizX if it matters. Let me know your thoughts and opinions, thanks guys!
  9. I think it might have to do with the fact that everything i've ever seen with CA and US prices, everything is more expensive in CA. Just the value of the dollar there I guess.
  10. Well, I tried the older KVD Grip Pin hooks from last year, with just the metal pin, and they snagged on everything under the sun. The newer KVD Grip Pin keeper design has worked much better and I will be purchasing more. After taking a look at the hook you mentioned... I had to order a few packs
  11. I usually where American Eagle, of whichever Levi's I can fit my hockey legs/butt into, LOL.
  12. I dont have them in identical models, however, the closest I have is a 6'8" M/XF and a 6'7" MH/XF and they both balance very well. In comparable models, I doubt a would see a noticeable difference. They're equal rods IMO, just depends on if you want a smei-micro experience.
  13. Here is my experience with the rods you've listed: Dobyns Savvy : I will say I think this rod is the best balanced of the bunch, but other than that, the rod feels dead. Not as much sensitivity as I would have hoped, and was dissapointed at the lack of crispness in the rod. I didn't like it so it got sold after about a month or two. Powell Max/Endurance: These are some of my favorite rods out there, the balance is great on these rods, and the sensitivity is top notch! Very comfortable, and very crisp. Note though even though most of them are labeled XF, they fall somewhere between a true XF and a true F, closer to XF though. Keep that in mind when looking at the action charts for these. Now what's the difference between the Max and Endurance? Very simple, the colorways, and every guide on the Endurance is one size smaller than the Max (Standard size) so it kinda gives you a bit of a micro guide feel but without micros. Shimano Crucial: I really like this rod, the balance is good, sensitivity is good, and is fairly crisp. I dont like the styling though, and the uplock reel seat has given me problems, but only twice in about 4 months, however i'm chaulking it up to me not tightening it enough, or something like that. Overall I like the rod and would purchase another one, but next to my Powells it just feels like it is lacking something, however I couldn't point my finger on it. Overall, I would go with the Powell's or the Crucial. Both are great rods and should serve you very well, I think they are the best two options in the price range. I would suggest, however, that you go out and put a reel on both for feel and judge for yourself. I would personally opt for the Powell.
  14. For me, Its gotta be the Powell Endurance or the St.Croix Avid rods. However, anything over a 7' MH in St.Croix's avid is just way too tip heavy for me, and i'd opt for the Powell. Under that power and length, I decide based on whether I want a full grip or split grip, and which companies power/taper I want for the given technique.
  15. I think I now have 17 different trays sitting on shelves. However, i generally only bring 3 or 4. I pick and choose what I want to bring based on conditions and past success. So definately, save the boxes until you find something new, and then you stock up on it because you like it.
  16. Sorry, I thought the post was fine because i was going to reply that he didn't apply the promo code and select size, rather than it being a company complaint. Well then, Carry on.
  17. May I be the first to say that was effing cool!!! I want more!
  18. I clicked on a thread earlier about a shirt from TW, and when I replied it said I didn't have permission to reply, then it said no permission to view the thread. Did I do something wrong? Or am I missing something.
  19. I'll just say this, until you've tried a pair of 580G or any other really nice lense for that matter that is polarized, it really does feel like your seeing in HD. The reduced glare off seemingly everything makes the lines sharper and boosts colors that you didnt see before because of glare.
  20. Costa's 580G lenses blow everything out of the water, but comparing the 400G to Maui Jims, they are very comparable, the main difference being the styles of the frames that each company uses.
  21. Although the are strictly for fishing, it also matter if high contrast/color bothers you. My first pair of Costas were the 580G Permits with the green mirror lenses because of the high recommendation for that color. They are great, but I didn't like the high contrast and color the copper base provided. It gave me headaches, which only worsened because I wear contacts and later on had a concussion. I sold those for a new pair of Costa Fantail 580G Blue mirror with the grey base, and I never looked back. Unlike other lenses that are gray, I cant say these have ever made things "darker". They only really liven the colors just a bit that you dont see with the naked eye because they're polarized. They gray they use is also a bit of a warm lense, as opposed to my oakley's which have a lens that puts a cool hue on colors. Also, I found that regardless of the lense colors, I could still see perfectly fine into the water. The higher contrast of the copper(Green mirror) lenses just make things pop a bit more, which you might like, but you can still see in the water equally well.
  22. Its obvious that their reels are pretty much quantums, But the rods bare no resemblance IMO. I have heard that Either All Star or St.Croix make them, but their is no real proof i've seen.
  23. Flukes are a unique bait that it takes a trip or two to learn, but their well worth it. i had a pack for two years before I caught my first fish on it and it is now my favorite lure and technique year round. Just figure out the cadence of jerks and speed for the conditions, and you'll have a great time. I prefer to throw them on a semi short, 6'8" M/XF Powell max with a minimum 6.x ratio reel.
  24. For me I use the *** backpack because i'm shore only, if you're organized like I am, you can fit more than you'll ever need into it, plus it has some small features that are really cool. Its pretty cheap too, considering what shemano wants for their similar product.
  25. I've decided if even something as the lights flicker while im at work during the so-called (end of the world), im walking and going home. Hopefully it wont be very busy, but it probably will being its a friday and people love pizza. After work, im going to my lady's house, and if the world doesn't end, well I had a good friday evening.
