  1. Yeah, they only have the micros at mine, so it may be different. I would look at the 7' H, its a really good all-arounder, but im not sure if they are the same models in micro, or they carry different models.
  2. They're great rods for the money, the only thing I disliked about them was a slightly slower than average taper, and that the guides stick up off of the blank, but that's nit picking. Also, they're a bit lighter than the avg rod, so coming from a stiff veritas it may be a little different. So probably go a power up.
  3. I thought this thread was about something else.... LOL
  4. AG Wright? I was in Garrisonville Elementary, which is connected to AG Wright. Crazy how small the world is. I was in 1st grade, and we were doing vocab when the assistant teacher came in and just said there was a plane crash. I found out when my mom came to pick me up about an hour later. I remember just about every channel was playing what was happening. Yup, like 2 miles from the Quantico Gate. Everything was crazy.
  5. My dedicated Fluke rod is a Powell 682c 6'8" M/XF. Couldn't ask for a more perfect rod. Powell's do cost about 140 for 7' and under, but if you can squeeze out 40 more dollars, there is absolutely no better rod for under 2 bones
  6. Sometimes it takes up to two days for any info to show up, not always though. Maybe you just have to play the waiting game?
  7. I'm still alive and kicking. Haven't been on for a while, too much schoolwork and personal stuff, however, I did watch the game from Start to finish, and i was pretty impressed. Our Defense didn't do too bad, and the Offense looked great minus the o-line, which is now basically a paper wall. My followers on twitter knew my impressions real time, as well as all my unfiltered Giants Bashing
  8. Magnetic brakes are not a downfall for the SOL, I actually prefer them to basic cent. brakes. The free floating spool is just that the spool and shaft are not connected, its just supported by bearing, and it does equate to better spool performance, but takes a bit of time to get used too coming from a SHIMANO, or ABU/LEWS
  9. Backlashes, even small ones, can and will kink your line almost all the time. Once it kinks, it will break there. Sorry, but it happens with all fluorocarbon lines, including Sunline and Toray. And FWIW, Sunline and Toray are overpriced for what they are and people overhype them to an extreme. Toray is slightly better than Seahuar, but not worth the price of admission. Sunline has less memory than Seaguar, but that's because it's diameter is so small. That also equates to it's lack of abrasion resistance IMO. I think Seaguar is a nice blend of abrasion, and handling.
  10. Sam's pizza is a local chain in Virginia, and hot dang there pizza is good, not to mention its ALWAYS buy one get one free. 2 large pizzas are around 12$ and change, can't beat that. Plus they have some of my favorite wings in the area. However, I do work for dominos, and I'm not sick of there pizza, I just eat it everyday at work, so the only thing I will actually order is stuffed cheesy bread, and only because its a dollar.
  11. I use both. For low resistance baits (Jigs, plastics, etc) - I'll take a lefty. I want my right hand to control the action better. For anything that requires semi-constant to constant reeling (Jerkbaits [hard and soft], crankbaits, spinnerbaits, etc) - I need to reel with my right hand, thats what is controlling my lure, not my rod. Plus reeling fast only feels natural in my right hand. However, I can use RH reels for anything. I can switch hands mid-cast while still thumbing the spool, so I can cast righty, reel righty. I also only cast righty
  12. If your scared of mosquitoes you might as well fish without a hook, dont want to risk hooking yourself. In fact, i'd be willing to bet hooking yourself is more common than getting west nile.
  13. Are you talking about the Recon models? That's what im assuming anyways. I dont think you can go wrong with either really. The Cumaras are fantastic rods for the money, especially at that price, but the Phenix is also incredible. I got to throw one for a few casts and was very impressed. I would go with the Cumara if it were me though, its a little bit cheaper, and I like the Aesthetics alot better. Its not in your face, but still looks realy nice, and they look really nice in the sun. Im not big on this whole JDM thing thats going on.
  14. Now if we're talking production rods, I couldn't tell you. If I had the bills though I would take a hard look at some NRX's, and top of the line Croixs. Phenix seems to have some great blanks as well, from what I hear. Probably thrown some Dobyns Champ Extremes in there too. EDIT: Since we're talking about unlimited money here, you might as well start shelling out the big bucks for those JDM Daiwa's too. Some nice $700 dollar reels, lol
  15. To each his own opinion, I like to have tech. specific combos, so I tend to use whats best for me and my techniques.
  16. I've also been taking a good look at Okuma. That Helios would look really good on a Powell
  17. Complete customs, on Gary's NFC - HM Blanks, Titanium/SiC guides, and of course a Fuji reel seat. Complete the looks to what fits you.
  18. My problem with a MH and topwaters is that not too many bass sized topwaters (or atleast all of mine) weigh over 1/2 an ounce, most are around 1/4 to 3/8. I think A MH is just way too over-powered for such a small lure, and some extra bend in the rod will help keep the trebles pinned, while still being able to retain an XF action to work the baits, and cast the lighter guys a bit better.
  19. You can tell Daiwa fans are passionate
  20. IM ratings are generally a marketing tool for people who are unaware that its basically just some letters and a number. If your using the same series of rods , shimano for example, its just a number to basically say this blank is overall better. Seriously, take our word, IM and modulus mean close to nothing. Some extremely high end blanks are like 50 mil modulus, and scrappy ones boast an astounding 90 mil. Point being, doesn't matter.
  21. The best spinning reel in the Price range right now IMO is the Daiwa Exceler High Speed spinning reel, on sale at TW right now for only $100. Spare spool also included. I would jump on that in a heart beat if I had the funds. Edit: Actually, they only have the 4000 lft, and thats just too big for what you intended. I would search ebay for the 2500.
  22. 2 Black labs mix's, adopted from a shelter years ago. Wouldn't trade Dave and Delilah for anything. Lilly Me and Senor Dave And my beloved 2-doggy (Thumbs up for Human Centipede reference? )
  23. x2 on the Powell. You will not be disappointed, I use both the 6'7" Endurance MH/XF, and a 6'8" M/XF for the purposes you listed. The 6'7" gets weighted t-rigs, senkos, while the 6'8" is my dedicated Fluke rod.
  24. Fly would be one maybe. A fly, can fly, with fly shoes.
