  1. No academy's even remotely near me
  2. If you're more confident with a leader, go for it. I know I always do, but more for a bit of stretch. It can't hurt to have a leader, but it may hurt to not have have one.
  3. Powell has more of a true MH feel, IMO while St.Croixs rods tend to go towards the heavier side. That said, St.Croix has SUUPER fast tips, and gets into the backbone very fast, and hard. So that's why I would lean toward the Croix for your heavier jigs, football heads, punching rigs, flipping stuff, it would even make a decent frog rod. The Powell is just going to have a slightly softer tip than the croix, but thats okay because you probably wont be using extremely heavy gauge hooks with it, so you dont need such a stout, extra fast rod. IMO, the 683c powell is the ideal texas rig rod, for normal sized texas rigs. It has the perfect taper to get some nice bend in the rod, but once you get into the backbone you can get them out of the cover fairly quick.
  4. This one is more of a party song. Could really groove to this.
  5. Another good one, Nero With Skrillex
  6. Long wait for the drop in this one, its at 59 seconds. However, Its not a bad part to wait through. its definately different, but I like it. And if you like a little tech n9ne, this is a remix with Deadmau5 And ill just put this in here, its not anything techno or dub, but you might like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PhOV9ZWcTY
  7. Yep. They are literally the only craws I use anymore, either on a jig, or by itself
  8. The Powell will better handle those techniques, IMO. The St.Croix is just going to be too stiff. What I would do is use the Powell for lighter texas rigs, small jigs, etc, and then use the St.Croix for the bigger, heavier version.
  9. Yeah, what I really like are some metal characteristics, but its not in your face. It really has a unique flair. I'll post some more tomorrow when I'm not on my phone.
  10. I fish all year, however, I do not catch all year. Being a bank beater, dead hot summer, and really cold winter are tough for me, especially when alot of your fishing waters are shallow.
  11. Skrillex is mleeeh. They have a few good songs, but thats it. I've got a ton of good dubstep to post if you want. He'res a starter. Just wait for the drop Aaaaaaaannnnnnnnndddddddd another classic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16bRiH5zfOY
  12. 1)St.Croix 2)Powell 3)Duckett. In that order.
  13. My dad has the 70$ GM combo. The reel is pretty good, and the rod is just okay. But most combos are like that. You pay for the reel, and get a cheap rod. Not saying the rod is bad though. It'll be better than the Pfleuger.
  14. If you can find one, a Daiwa SOL would be absolutely PERFECT. a 50E would be a worthy option as well.
  15. Sand off the shards to its smooth, take a lighter the the glue stick, get the glue on, and the slide the new tip on. Make its alligned properly, then wait a little bit. Your good to go then,
  16. As far as rods go, if your looking for a ML go with the LTB without a doubt. Now, if you're looking for a M or another MH, I would stay with the Powell Max series. They're the best rods out there for under 2 bones hands down. I liked them MUCH more so than my comparable Avid. However, the LTB is better than the Powell's, but retail is much more, unless you can find the model you want in the bargain room. I would opt for a Powell Max 702C. They're very versatile rods, and having a M for smaller lighter lures comes in handy. Also, the Diesel rods do not have the same blank, but apparently they are pretty close.
  17. I had a SS 2 before I sold it. If I could get another one I would, that rod was pretty sweet, just didn't care for the reel seat / foam
  18. M or MH with an XF tip, preferably 6'10". Sufix Seige 14# mono
  19. All im saying is, they will get made fun of for a 14 y/o having a phone designed for a 6 year old. Nobody likes to get made fun of, it would just be easier on them. Like stated above, teen years, especially for middle school can be bad enough as a kid.
  20. ^^ Hes looking for a spinning set-up. Since you're fishing mostly texas rigs and planning on jigs, A good start would be a MH/F. As far as line goes, I would look at either one of two option. Braid if your fishing alot of heavy cover, or fluorocarbon for light to moderate cover. I would go 20# braid, or 8# fluoro. That will accomplish what you're looking to do, and next year you can upgrade to a rod better for cranks. You can use spinnerbaits on the MH for now. When you end up looking for cranks, I would look at a M/Moderate for those when you can afford another set-up.
  21. I should clarify, i'm used the one sold at Wal-Mart. I dont know if that is their high end line or not. Either way, I thought it sucked. Memory and random break-offs, which I cant stand. Knots were great, and abrasion was up to par. Just not good enough IMO. I was using 10#.
  22. Not too shabby. I hope you have some line conditioner for that CXX though, its strong as hell but it has a lot of memory
  23. Anything will kill vanish, lol. Viscious is just the second worst.... If you want to try a good Fluoro, pick up some seaguar.
