  1. 7&7 cabin 7 at 7:00pm it will end when we run out
  2. Since Long Mike put his up this early, I thought I would also. How many of you plan to attend the Saturday Night Wine & Cheese Soiree? It's open to all. We'll have wines and cheeses, of course, as well as a sandwich bar and sides, munchies, etc. I don't want to have enough for 8 people and have 30 show up. That would be embarassing. It would be rather expensive to have enough for 30, and have only 8 show up. I don't need to know right this minute, but it would be good to know the weekend before so I can plan it properly. Thanks, GK
  3. Just got a BCR852C GLX. I know some of you have one. What's it good for? Or, more correctly, what do you use it for?
  4. John, I'll get that reel back for servicing sometime soon. When I open up I'll try to remember to take a pic. The slot does not have to be cut very deep. I'd guestimate it at no more than 1/64". But it went all the way across the surface of the head of the screw. The shallow cut, all the way across, gave enough bite for a standard driver that I put the original screw back in. I told the guy to stop using it and bring it back if anything started sounding or feeling funny. It hasn't come back yet. When I ordered parts, I got several of those pesky screws.
  5. John, which part is the retaining collar? I did get into the nylon piece that raises the yoke. Had to order a new one of those. I nicked the part that the screw holds down, but a little bit of file work fixed that. I didn't damage anything else. For the disc; I still have a little plastic bottle about half full of discs. I'm fairly sure it has a part number on it. I'll PM it to you later.
  6. The funniest version I've heard was a buddy of mine asking some dude what he had for breakfast. The dude said pancakes. My bud said you could have fooled me. It smells like you ate bowlful of buttholes. I wouldn't suggest using that one. It almost started a fight. The dude wanted to fight me because I was laughing so hard.
  7. Trilene XL on everything 6 - 14lb test. I haven't decided yet what line I'll use for my new swimbait rod.
  8. Joking aside, I'm impressed with the one I have. For a 7'6" XH swimbait rod, it is very light. I have shorter, lighter power rods that weigh more than this one. I'm looking forward to giving it a spin. I'm encouraged by the positive reviews so far. I just wish it weren't that butt-ugly white.
  9. I fixed one those once for a buddy. I used a Dremel and a very thin grinding disc to cut a slot in the screw to fit a standard screwdriver. Took a long time, and a lot of discs.
  10. My sweetie just gave me one for my birthday. Out of the box, it feels nice. Smooth and quiet, just like I like"em. I'm thinking about putting it on my jerkbait rod.
  11. I had a Cabela's employee tell me they made with St Croix LE blanks. Now I hear they're NFC blanks. I read somewhere that they are the same blanks Kistler uses for the Z-Bone rods. Ain't that somethin? It's a Z-bone wrapped around a Legend Elite, with an NFC core. I've never used it but I love it. This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can feel a fish fart from three counties away. When I'm driving around in my jeep, with this rod, I can feel a mosquito land on the hood. I'm throwing all my other rods away. Everybody should buy one right now, because I said so. Every other rod now sucks. Sucks big time. SUcks a perfect vacuum. Sucks a ... never mind. If you're not using one these revolutionary new St NFZ Croix-Bone LE blanks you're a lame arsed loser, your wife's ugly and your kids are stupid.
  12. For where you live and fish a few basic colors are al you need. Buy the ones that look like fish; baby bass, perch, bluegill, etc. Whatever swims in your waters. Think more about where you throw them and how you present the bait than about the color. Get the depth and the presentation right first, then fine tune with color. Don't just throw one out and crank it back, unless all you want is wrist exercise. Make it erratic. Crank it down then start varying your presentation. Twitch it, jerk it, yank it, pause it, stop it, speed it up, slow it down, mix it up. Be prepared to lose a few. Pike like these things too. And, when you're deep cranking in the summer, you're putting a DD22 right where the pike live.
  13. JF gave you the exact way to do it. A little heat will make it come right out. If you don't have a soldering you can tap the screwdriver with a small hammer. Make sure the screwdriver fits perfectly, and tap it ONCE.
  14. Read the rules, buddy. NO BUMPING I'll lend a hand of you need one. Let me know. Mary will be happy to sit back with a glass of wine and provide management. ;D ;D ;D
  15. It could be a simple as how you apply the grease. If you're squirting it on the main gear and then cranking the reel to distribute the grease, that's your problem. Apply the grease with a brush. An old, worn out toothbrush works nicely. Work the lube into all the teeth. Keep it mind that more is not better.
  16. I have a St Croix LT 6'9" ML-XF casting rod. I use it for all finesse rigs. If you can afford it, that's the one you're looking for. St Croix's rods almost never go on sale.
  17. The "other" guy in the pics is Tim Hotdawg Curtis. One of the best guides in the country. Treat yourself to trip with Hotdawg sometime. You can look around and find a lot white River guides who are cheaper. Some who are a lot cheaper. You will NOT find one better.
  18. I just realized that I did not answer your question. You'll get a slighter smoother feel with greased frame bearings. I never really noticed a difference between oil and grease feeling either connected or faster.
  19. depends on which bearing it is. Some Daiwa reels have three bearings on the crank. One at the base, one on the outside, and the anti-reverse bearing. Never grease the anti-reverse bearing. Any other frame bearings can use either oil or grease. I used to grease all my frame bearings, but got tired of the long cleaning process when it was time to do so. I went back to a heavy oil for all frame bearings.
  20. In my jig boxes are 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2. I use 1/4 more than all the others combined.
  21. I use only megastrike, whatever "scent" that is. Put a little dab on my forefinger , touch it to my thumb, then wipe it all over the bait, hook and weight. I wipe it off on my mustache, putting a little dab behind each ear. I wanna smell gooooood to the big girls. ;D
  22. I will not wear one that says "dead-stick"
  23. I'll eat 5. Mary will have 1.
  24. I consider all my clothing to be topwater. I do not ever intend to put it under the water. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  25. I call it the magic bait syndrome. None of us are completely immune.
