  1. Ask him why he is "trying" to cultivate on his chin what grows wild in his arse. Use my name, of course.
  2. Great rods. I have six of them. If you can get one for $75 off, I'd jump on it. I don't need any more rods at this time, but if I did, I'd ask you where they were, and come get some. These compare very favorably to the St Croix Legend Tournament rods I have. I think the Setyr rods are a step up from St Croix's Avid line, which I also have. I broke one, being stupid, and told them that. They replaced it for 20 bucks, plus what it cost me to ship the broken rod back.
  3. In my opinion, asking what's the best flourocarbon line is rather like asking what's the best menu item at McDonalds. Flouro has a few serious problems which prevent me from spooling it on any of my reels. 1. knot strength. very finicky line when tying knots. Tests have proved this. 2. when you kink it, you have created a weak spot. Backlashes produce kinks, and the only solution is to respool. 3. it stretches more than mono, and does not recover from being stretched like mono does. Tests have proved this also. Whatever the perceived advantages may be, these three disadvantages mean I leave it on the shelf.
  4. I haven't tried all of the baits in the lineup, but I intend to do just that. Last year, the Shad and Toad were two fo the best producing baits I used, all year. If you think you like toad fishing, then forget about all the rest; just get a few packs of Rage Toads. They are simply the best toad available. For an awesome bottom bouncing bait, try the Rage Toad on a Shake2 jighead. When the toads get too torn up to stay on a 5/0 EWG hook, I save them to rig on the Shake2 head. The Rage Shad is great for anytime or anywhere you'd throw a buzzbait. For me, it was better than a buzzbait almost all of the time last year. For all you up North guys, try the Shad for weedline pike. Had a blast last fall in northern Minnesota catching 30-40" pike on the Rage Shad. I've bought a bunch of these two baits to get ready for this year. I've also bought a dozen packs of Anacondas and Lobsters, to give them a shot. Based on my experiences with the Shad and Toad, I have high expectations for the rest of these fine baits. Cheers, GK
  5. A quick update. Got it all cleaned up. What a Crappy mess that was. I scooped out a 5 gallon bucket, 3/4 full of "fondue". :-X Then hosed it all down several times. Sprinkled floor dry down, and topped that with carpet fresh powder. left that for a day, then swept it all up, and applied more carpet fresh. Lit a couple of febreze candles in the house. Those things actually helped, a lot. The place is livable again. Furnace cleaned and started up. It appears to have survived the ordeal. Ditto the water heater. Not out any money for any damaged appliances. I am out $160 for the routing out of the drain tile. Had a few tree roots in the line, not causing a noticeable problem until they were swept backwards, the reversed and clogged. I do have the sewage rider, but I'm not out anything that is covered. LBH, there is no flipping/pitching allowed in the basement. Long Mike, I am a conscientious sportsman, and always have a salmonid stamp when after those elusive "brown trout". They're much easier to target when they are "topwaters". :D
  6. Glenn did have the BR hat and shirt on , stylin for the camera. ;D They mentioned he was driving the chase boat, but didn't mention that it was his boat, or give him much air time for his generosity. They did include several clips from the local weather reports; like we really wanted to see that. I still want my danged autograph. ;D :
  7. Just saw yer mug today on City Limits. You were on for about 5 seconds, and they said nothing about Bass Resource. Let's sue the bastages> :D :D
  8. In my ^%$ *&^% basement! > > > A lot of rain and wind yesterday. Got home around 9:00 last night, and turned the furnace up. You should have heard it when the blower tried to start up. Had about 20" of sewer water backed up in the basement. House smells like ^%$#. The portable sump pump has been running off and on since about 9:30 last night, and the water is still coming in. Got a real mess to clean up whenever the water starts draining again. Haven't had water in the basement for about 20 years.

  10. The best one-word recipe; Megastrike. No need to put any in the bag. Just apply to each bait when you rig it.
  11. A new fishin partner. WOO HOO!
  12. A note about spinning the bearings on a pencil to test them. You'll never get an unmounted bearing to spin for very long, no matter how clean or well lubricated it is. What your testing is for bad bearings. Do it by listening. I use a nail set or pin punch. Any metal tool with a small enough tip to insert in the bearing, and with a taper to hold it in place will work. I use this also for drying. Hit it with a hair dryer for about 30 seconds, until it's very warm to the touch, and it will be dry. Then put the blunt and of the punch snugly against your ear, and rotate the bearing by hand on the punch. It's very easy to hear a bad bearing, and not at all difficult to hear a questionable one.

  15. looks more like a Roadrunner on steroids.
  16. Been on the Hornet since early last year. A good bait for numbers for me. I haven't caught anything to brag about with it, but I've caught a lot of fish with it. Kent, I know you wouldn't stoop so low as to buy, and use, any Yamamoto plastics, but try the torn up remnant of a Swim Senko on that Hornet head. Looks cool, and works very well.
  17. better check to see if yours is online also, and have it removed. www.license.shorturl.com

An elderly gent was invited to an old friends home for dinner one evening. He was impressed by the way his buddy preceded every request to his wife with endearing Terms such as: Honey, My Love, Darling, Sweetheart, Pumpkin, etc. The couple had been married almost 70 years and, clearly, they were still very much in love. While the wife was in the kitchen , the man leaned over to his host, 'I think it's wonderful that, after all these years, you still call your wife those loving pet names''s. The old man hung his head. 'I have to tell you the truth,' he said, 'Her name slipped my mind about 10 years ago and I'm scared to death to ask the old bat what it is?

large dikes, for cutting hooks mini dikes, for all my line cutting tasks long, bent-tip needle nose pliers, much easier to remove hooks Gerber multi-tool, just generally handy Gerber diamond hone, for jig and spinnerbait hook touch-ups Hemostat (roach clip), another handy tool Neck knife, just because Rapala Lok-N-Weigh, weigh the big fish, handle the toothy ones not tools, but still along for the ride; Band-aids and disinfectant, 'cause I need them occasionally Arse-wipe, because I need that occasionally three small towels, one for hand wiping. The other two go in the cooler on hot days. When I get over-heated, I take one out the cooler, wring it out a bit, and wrap it around my neck. Swap "em when the one on your neck gets warm. It's surprising how well that will cool you down. spare pair of socks. When you start to get worn down, sit down, take off your shoes and socks and have a cold drink while your feet dry. Put on a clean pair socks with your shoes, and get back at it. This is also surprisingly refreshing on long, hot day on the water.

  23. Hey Beast, you want a FLoojer real cover to put on that thing?
  24. I had just such an encounter, about 20 years ago, before the kinder, gentler Ghoti you all know came to be. I used to be a bit crazy. Had two folks give me some grief about cruelty to animals, and spent about 10 minutes throwing rocks all around the area. I put away my gear, and offered them a free introduction to the art of swimming. They both left.
  25. You already have my info. Or, do I need to send it? I know how you old farts are about remembering things.
