  1. Lightninrod, I can't wait to see what you come back with. Sounds very interesting.
  2. Tell my body fishing isn't a sport. After a long day of fishing there is always some part of my body which is sore. Then again I walk the bank and float tube so I do use more energy and muscles. Olympic sport?? That would work but the bass boats would have to go. Otherwise NASCAR and F1 should be in the Olymics. Even then the home country would have a huge advantage. More so than in any other sport IMO.
  3. LOL...it was more of a joke. ;D
  4. That all has to do with air time. You know what is coming out of their mouths when the cameras aren't rolling. I know what comes out of mine when I'm fishing!!
  5. I vote no mount...even if it is a WR. But chances are the WR will not be released. Sure if the fish is caught legally the angler has every right to do what he or she wishes. But pictures of bass in kitchens and people mounting them will not help anyones chances at catching the next WR.
  6. ;D Looks like I left myself wide open for that one!!
  7. How do you search for beds when there is no light out? I do all of my night fishing from the bank so I have no electronics to work with. What would be the best way to start? Should I just pound the bank in search of flats or what? Maybe I need to recon the place during the day when there is light?
  8. Swimbaits & Soft Plastics. I have confidence in swimbaits but can't throw them for too long. I want to commit more time to swimbaits. I have very little confidence in soft plastics right now so that has to change.
  9. I couldn't agree more. Who cares where it comes from. I care more about who catches it. Just a month ago a trout fishermen caught a 14# LMB out here while fishing for stocked rainbow trout with a nightcrawler. The fish was not released. > If this was a trophy hunter the fish would have been weighed, pictured, and released. No question about it.
  10. Avid, check it out: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/visitorcenters/tffc/budsharelunker/ It's a very cool thing. Every state should have some sort of program like this.
  11. Sounds great!! Can't wait for #400. I'm sure it's going to get nuts out there. Question...how to they prove that fish was caught in the body of water the angler says? Just curious. There have been a few double digit bass caught out here in 2006 already, up to 16 pounds that I know of. We just don't have a state run program that publicizes it.
  12. If I had up to $500 to spend on a float tube it would be on this: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/horizontal-item.jhtml?id=0001567315379a&navCount=0&cmCat=srchdx&cm_ven=srchdx&cm_ite=srchdx&CM_REF=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cabelas.com%2Fproducts%2FCcat360010.jsp
  13. Could Castaic's parking lot hold more than a thousand people? After all, Castaic is not one of the San Diego County lakes, most of those couldn't support the parking alone, much less a stage area. Back to Castaic, now this may seem like another excuse, could you get the max boats on the lake to be lifted for the tourney, because the 500 spectator boats wants to watch also. Okay no excuses, you can have your tourney, the fans can't be on the water though. 2500 acres only for motors, yes she has a combines acreage of close to 9000, but all that has off limits. The last one is the 2 fish limit and 18" minimum. Doesn't make for an exiciting weighin does it? Remove this restriction for the pros and the regular guys gonna call foul. It's not my job to figure the logistics of the event. That is BASS's job. I'm just trying to make a point that if we are going to say tournaments are what define the best anglers, then we should have tournaments in all parts of the country. Even then why shouldn't the classic be on a 2300 acre lake? I don't know where you got 9000 acres combined. I personally think the 2 fish 18" minimum could work on a California big bass lake. Catch 2 quick fish then spend the rest of the day searching for a giant. Lets see what happens. Why does it always have to be catch 5 fish...small fish and then search for a "kicker"? I'm sorry, I'm just thinking outside the box, or in this case outside the pond.
  14. Matt_Fly, Your points are well made but some seem more like excuses to why BASS does not have tournies out here. The same goes for Western anglers when it comes to travel expenses. If anything it's more difficult for an up and coming angler than it is for BASS. BASS could hold events out here if they want to. Castaic has night fishing a few times a year and even has some tournies at night. That is just one lake.
  15. LOL...he probably loved it. I bet he wouldn't mind if people actually bought it for a little while. Just to buy some extra bags.
  16. Why doesn't BASS come out West?? It's because BASS does not respect the West. Otherwise they would have major tournies out here. They choose Pittsburg last year when it could have been any number of Cali lakes which could have made for insane bags and limits but no...BASS does not respect the west coast. They would rather keep it on the East coast. Hey, it's cool...keep the tournies and publicity away from some of our lakes. I like it better that way.
  17. Man, I was about to go drive to all the tackle and sporting goods stores in L.A. just to buy all of their Senkos!! I'm glad I read the whole thing before doing anything like that. That was good...real good!! ;D The final message is great.
  18. Yeah...especially PWC. Have to seen some of the new stuff they have? 215 ponies in a PWC?!?!? \ I'd love to ride one though. 8-)
  19. Even safe JETSKIES are the most annoying machines on the planet. Engine throttle up - engine throttle down. Then back up - then down again. OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER ..... all over the lake. The whole time the driver is screaming "WEEEEEE, look at meeee! I have no reason to be on the water!!!! I'm just a jerkkkkk! WEEEEEE!" I love jetskiers. Who wouldn't want to listen to that all day? Like I said, don't lump us all into one group. When I have the throttle "UP" it's staying up for a long time because I go fast, no in betweens for me. I don't scream while I'm on the water but who cares if someone else is. Just because they are having fun you want to rain on them? Sounds like you had a bad encounter. That is unfortunate because all we want to do is enjoy the water just like you. I have pulled out fishing line from my PWC's intake countless times but have never disrespected a fishermen because of it. I just cut the line and be on my way. Do you want me to count how many rusty hooks I've almost stepped on while walking a bank?? Again, countless so not all fishermen are the little angels you might think. It is what it is dude. If it means that much to you, do what Castaic Lake has done and give the PWC a little corner of the lake and be done with it. But even then some would complain because they can't fish that 1/10th of the lake. :
  20. Yes sir. Matts BG's are great swimmers also. Don't look at them as just a bedding situation bait.
  21. Cold...for here.
  22. This guy had some red lips. Not sure why.
