  1. You're not going to question Perry's catch but you will call the Cali guys names and question them. I rest my case.
  2. So...like I asked before...are you going to question Perry's catch like your bashing the Cali guys? Or are you going to tell me once again that Georgia still holds the WR and blah blah blah?
  3. Rattletrap...I also did not make a comment like "When is the next Georgia Liars fair?" now did I? The way I see it, "Cali Snagmaster Championships" is a direct attack on all California anglers. And I took it personally. I don't care what little smiley you put on it.
  4. If everyone knows it happens why does it seems like such a big deal that it happened with the Cali catch? Because it was foul hooked with a jig everyone is saying that they think it was intentional. That was my whole point in posting this. It happens and it happens more than some might think or even admit.
  5. I never called Perry a liar. I said he is either a liar or has a hard time estimating weight. I then agreed that maybe his scale was a piece of crap. Take your pick but I never flat out called him a liar.
  6. Believe it or not. Tim Horton foul hooked a 5 pounder while sight fishing!! I've kept my mouth shut about this because maybe some people would realize that it happens more then you might think! From the article: He got there and the 5-pounder "was still sitting there. It was a pretty hot fish." The bass clamped down on Horton's bait, but on the hookset the bait came out of its mouth and he hooked the fish on the outside. "I foul-hooked that 5-pounder, so I unhooked it," he said.
  7. > > Why did you have to go there dude? That whole post rubs me the wrong way. Cali Snag Masters? Screw that!! :-X :-X You question the Cali catch soooo much. Why don't you spend some time questioning Perry's catch insead of bad mouthing the Cali catch? We all know, and most agree, the Cali catch wont be the WR so why do you have to keep pounding that point to death?
  8. Edit: Just saw EW's post. Much better picture and that bass is not even close to 10 pounds. Sorry Mr. Perry! You're either a liar or have very bad judgement when it comes to estimating weight. Or his scale was a real piece of crap. Could be. It could be that the 22.25 was weighed on a crappy scale too. Things that make you go..."huh?" :-?
  9. It's possible but I doubt it. If they have a shot at the fish they are going to take it. Just because they got her off the bed doesn't insure they will be the next to catch her so that would make it a very risky move that probably would not pay off. Sure they might have the best shot at her but it gives everyone else another shot also and now everyone knows how big she is. I don't think it was a defensive move at all. If anything this will hurt their chances with all the $$$$$$$ hunters that will now flock to Dixon.
  10. Thanks....this is the best I could find. And it looks like it's the September 2005 edition. http://proxy.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/members/insider/more?page=Bass_Magazine_archive I can't see the picture too good since it's small but I would bet a lot of cash that is not even a 10 pound bass. Perry is either a liar or over estimates weight! No doubt about that in my mind. The fish in my avatar looks bigger and that is a little over 5 pounds!! BTW, my fish was weighed on a Shimano spring scale and I believe it was bigger then what the scale said. Came home and tested the scale to be pretty accurate so it's a 5er to me even though I believe it was bigger. I now own a much better and easier to read digital scale. Edit: Just saw EW's post. Much better picture and that bass is not even close to 13 pounds. Sorry Mr. Perry! You're either a liar or have very bad judgement when it comes to estimating weight.
  11. Yeah, they fish at Dixon up to 5 times per week I believe. Some weeks it maybe more or less. Monday morning quarterbacks... :
  12. Does anyone have links to this 13.4 that was closer to 6? That is very interesting to me and would tell me a lot about George W. Perry. It would at least tell me that he over estimates weight or is a liar. One or the other. Why not question Perry's record? We have zero proof it even existed so of course some will question it. Why shouldn't we? Because the almighty IGFA says so? Give me a break! That is the same organization that dragged the SMB record through the mud, is it not?
  13. Not if somebody is a so-called Big Bass hunter. ::)Come on. I don't care who you are that fish is going to make your brain turn into jello and your pants will be soiled. Big bass hunter or not. Just because they are big bass hunters doesn't mean they don't have emotion when a big bass is caught. Just think of the adrenaline rush these guys were on once they saw the fish. Everyone seems to think they are numb when it comes to big bass. As far as making sure there is no controversy (or as little as possible) about the catch, I believe that is why they aren't submitting for WR status correct? Because there is too much controversy about the catch.
  14. Sweet!! Enjoy it dude and best of luck in your new ventures!
  15. Exactly my thoughts. It's the monday morning quarterback syndrom.
  16. I might be making them seem like knights in shining armor but a lot of others are so quick to trash them. It goes both ways. I could call out a lot of people on this forum for trashing them. I think what they did was right so I will defend their actions. The fact is they caught the bass, it was foul hooked, they discussed their options, weighed and pictured the fish, then released it. I've read post from others, not necessarily on this site, that say they would have killed the bass so they could mount it. Regardless if it was foul hooked, illegal to keep, and wouldn't have been the WR. I would be the first person all over that guy for doing something so stupid. Give them credit for ultimately doing the right thing. Don't speculate on the details in between that only the few people that were there will ever truly know about.
  17. I'm sorry. I didn't mean that post directly at you and that was hardly being hostile. I apologize if you took it that way. It's just with all of these conspiracy theories it's getting old.
  18. Rumors...It's also thought that Mike was trying to get peoples minds off the lake. It probably worked too. So what now?? They used a marker to place the birthmark on the fish since that fish was found dead and did not exsist anymore?? Give me a break!
  19. Come on dude. So they held the fish for 20 minutes. The law was technically broken but a DFG warden is on record saying he probably wouldn't have sited them even if he saw it. Now everyone is a law enforcement officer and would have sited them on the spot. Give me a break. : The fact is this is the biggest bass we have evidence of that was caught with a rod, reel, and line. Not some dead floater or a fish that was caught in a net.
  20. Some of you just don't understand the mindset of TRUE trophy hunters. Everyone else seems to be money hunters, not true trophy hunters. Let me ask everyone this, if Mac offered Kyle $1000 to fish for the bass and would split the "million dollars" if he caught it, would you still have a problem with such an offer?
  21. How does a dead 26 pound fish compare to a live 25 pound fish? I don't hear anyone deny that Cuba or Mexico hold HUGE bass, possible records. I don't know why the fish wasn't weighed on the certified scale but I can only assume that since they knew it probably wouldn't stand as the WR, why even bother taking that fish 100 yards out of the water. Let me guess, the bass would have been placed on it's side to be weighed, correct? All that weight could have killed her right then and there.
  22. Well said Matt. A lot of people don't understand the mindset of these guys. It's really NOT about the money and I truly believe that. I don't even want to know how much they've invested of their money in this pursuit. I bet it's a lot. Of course with all this hype about the "Million Dollar Fish" everyone will think it is about the money. The story gets twisted every which way, even after the record has been set straight.
  23. That is a twisted version. The 18 year old kid, Steve Barnett, is not the same person who was on the fish the day before. Kyle Malmstrom, who I believe is 34, was on the fish the day before and he was offered the cash.
  24. I understand people not liking the fact that the offer was made. But Mac could easily deny that any offer was ever made. He should be given some credit for admitting that. The fact that he bought a camping permit doesn't bother me. Anyone could have done the same exact thing. As far as killing the bass, I don't see why anyone would want that. Especially at this time of year. She is loaded with eggs. I hope people give her a break and let her spawn. The next 25 could be one of those eggs.
