  1. I think there are better worms, yes. I cut a 10 or 12 inch power worm tail to match if that is what I want. better worm, and I don't have to buy more/different packs of worms. I buy by the 100pk though, so it makes sense for me.
  2. Sadly, the comments below that story appeared to have been real. That, is scary.
  3. Thanks. It is the 5500 c3. I have a couple of those and the c4 as well. I could not get rid of them if I tried and it seems they can cast light and heavy weights. I actually consider them one of the more versatile reels out of what I have. That particular one is about 10-15 years old, never been cleaned etc., and is my main jig reel. Very reliable.
  4. I have limited use with the thumper but on occasion will throw one. I throw plenty of 10-12 inch worms however. if you put the 4/0 and 5/0 side by side there really is a negligible size difference comparatively to the worm, and each will have enough gap to allow the worm to ball up on a hookset. I tend to throw a 5/0 but 4/0 results are no different in hookup ratio. Edit- was supposed to be directed to op
  5. Went out Friday evening and caught around 20 or so and a good smallmouth finally!! Not great, so I guess I should have posed the question differently when asking if anyone had any good ones recently. Fished for wipers/whites Saturday and caught 40+/- fileted half. Still trying to get self pics on the phone right- and not anywhere close to having it down.
  6. and an 18.875 smallmouth. 85.250
  7. another 15.5 ugly ole humpback and a 18.875
  8. Went out Friday and caught a couple limits- nothing huge however at least I posted them this time!! a 15.5 and 16.5 head cutoff on the second-I can always remove and catch another if I have too...and should cull at some point anyhow

BEARS!!! Nfc north champs at least...I hope... And while I don't like KC I actually think they are way underrated. Final for tonight 24-17 Broncos
  10. I completely agree. That, small lakes and not being able to have my own boat I could never pay to fish like that
  11. Brother, myself and neighbors would have bb gun fights in the woods, build forts etc. as well. I don't think I personally want my kid to do that now(the forts yes), however it was the greatest thing in life for myself. Just the other day I went on a run while my daughter was riding her bike without wearing a helmet- she is 6. I got a dirty look from a couple dressed in every "bicycle gear" imaginable including helmets and I could hear them talking about her not having a helmet. It immediately made me angry and proud that yes my daughter does not need a helmet. Then immediately made me feel stupid that she was not wearing one, and one mistake could make her a veggie. We were lucky enough to grow up without helmets and shooting each other. We were also lucky to never get hurt (permanently) as well!
  12. Slowed but big fish still being taken. I will be out this weekend as well- may camp and fish Friday, Saturday morning. Let us know how you do. Shad have gotten to finally be a good size however the lake is still inundated with way too much young of the year bait.
  13. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/index.php/custom-jigs-and-shaky-heads-2 This is a far superior shaky head than the megastrike. Better price as well. The megastrike version I find picks up and gets hung up on anything and everything with the overly bulky head.
  14. Forgot to post the rest of my fish last month! Lol, would not have won but still fun to post. Anyhow, starting new...
  15. The weight you are using will be directly related to how much feel you have of the bottom to a certain extent and then that is dependent of water depth as well as wind factoring into what your line is doing.
  16. I did not even get a chance to be on the water this weekend- wedding anniversary and the crowds combined to help me make to correct decision to stay home. Should be able to make it out somewhere this week. Anyone get any good smallmouth this year? I have yet to catch a photo worthy one.
  17. Look into Trophy Country in Missouri. Apparently there is a want or need by some, but it would have to be managed pretty well. I believe a few folks from the site have been there, and have good things to say as well. (I have not personally been there, but did look into it after recommendations here) http://trophycountry.com/
  18. I think you may need to stop pheasant hunting in the reptile house portion of the zoo then if that is the case...
  19. Hundreds??? if that were true I would say you are doing something wrong...............
  20. Bwell, or anyone for that matter- where do you guys put in at Shelbyville? thanks!
  21. I hope to mistakenly catch a flathead every time I go out. Always a nice surprise!
  22. 100 count Berkeley power bait bags help!
  23. I bought a few for some striper fishing applications, and honestly felt a bit silly throwing it yet I have no issue throwing 3oz swimbaits. Go figure. Anyhow, I think it was the correct move for tournament fishing at the highest level. Maybe it is because I never caught a thing on one.
