Decent weekend of fishing. Caught a bunch of 3.5#'s to just under 4, nothing any bigger unfortunately though. Pattern was easy, Grass close to deeper water with rock or wood nearby in the shade. You could call your shots. Caught 40 or so. One thing I did notice was a parasite on some fish. Had a bass with one in its mouth, and a catfish that took a plastic worm had marks by the fins on each side, size just a bit different. Never have seen this before. There was also a bass that was almost yellow with its skin falling off lazily swimming at the surface. Not sure what was going on with it, and did not get a picture as I really did not want to get any closer quite frankly. It looked bad. Still no big fish for the year-hopefully someone here in IL finds the big bite! And yes...really stretching the arms out on these as if I am trying to make the cover of Bassmaster Mag!!!

forgot about some of those- hook n look, bass pros actually is alright as well. I guess I just have to whole heartily agree with what you stated.

I don't modify any. I want a bulky jig that I don't want hanging up easy even in open water. If I don't want those qualities then I throw a different presentation/bait.

To me it sounds like a powerpack problem as well- is yours a 2 or 3 cylinder engine? I would think that you the way it loses power you may also have an override to shut the engine down if you don't run on more than the minimum. Easiest way to diagnose is to hook your engine up to a laptop, see if your cylinders are firing properly, or figure out which one may not be- take off power pack from a working cylinder and switch it with the one that does not work. If the original cylinder now works fine, than you know what powerpack to replace. You may also have an alarm that drops it to 1 or 2 cylinders or shuts it off altogether. You have a local dealer you can plug into?

In-Fisherman, linders show good info. I guess I can watch zonas show as he does remind me of a buddy and is a bit humble- The rest are garbage. The worst are tournament shows, hooksets of 2lb fish- screaming and going on like children while on trophy waters. Never insight on tournament prep except for what gear they bring. Would love to hear more on other aspects of the tournament except for your sponsors. Some of the tournament guys are okay but that seems to be a small portion. For the most part though a lot of them (tournament guys) remind me of a box of macaroni and cheese; prepackaged, corporate with a distinct "cheesy" flavor. Edit(I do love smaller programs only on DVD/etc.- Trout eaters, etc.

You may want to check, but you should already have a 40 or 50 amp breaker mounted close on your current set up... Also, your wire may state gauge on it and you may be okay there.

Slow year when you are posting a couple mediocre fish. Apparently I need hot drought like conditions to catch bigger fish. More rain on the way, so I guess I will wait till fall to catch the big ones! Second fish was solid and seemingly a younger fish. I hope there is a good stock coming from that year class in a couple of years.

Seems like you have your natural/dark colors down and that's all I would prefer in that model. From a sales side I would however lighten up the model line and put some white/chartreuse etc. silicone in there for a salt and pepper or crappie look. That could also get some of the sight fisherman to buy some up for next spring.

I missed it this year- smaller fish than last year for me but a couple could have gone up to at least make it fun.

Nice. Hopefully you guys beat that in the near future. The first fish was only just a hair over 19inches yet weighed 4-7. One of the most healthy fish I have caught and had to take a picture of it. It has all the makings of being a very large fish in the future. It also appeared younger without all the usual distinctions of an "old" fish. The second fish was 22.5 but not nearly the girth or stockiness. If I could have only combined the two I would have a nice hefty fish.

Some solid fish and a few over or at 5. Still looking for bigger fish this year and it seems they are pretty tough. No fish really seem stacked up on summer patterns at all with the weird spring we have had. Really frustrating year so far.

Good deal- with anything 20# and up I also tighten the tag line with plyers after hand tightened- seems to cinch down just a bit more.

What kind of knot on what pound test and line type? Larger diameter lines do require different knots to be more effective, but glue will not cure a bad knot.

I could be convinced of that actually. Taking off this Friday through Wednesday for fishing (and wife, daughter vaca as well). Who is putting the tourney on?

they will work very nicely for you. Good variety of sizes and colors. Green sardine is right for me, but there is a variety out there.

I know you know of it, but maybe the hudd bug could provide some middle ground while you consider the live bait option. I have used it with some success- weighted version with just a circle hook through the harness. I don't have the patience, nor dedication as you to use it often enough- even with one rod rigged all the time with it. Seems like you could explore your options with it, especially if you can match your color to what you have up there. Good luck, and like others I do enjoy checking in on this thread often as well.

I think I would have some use for it if it came in a "magnum" size. Cross sell that to the musky crowd as well to help out your margins...

Trackers do ride just fine- mine runs gps around 43 loaded with a 75hp. a 50hp may be underpowered though but you would get on plane and ride just fine even in choppy water. Wiring and TM is just plain simple on it as well so I would not let that concern you. Took 2 hours to replace trolling motor mount and rewire, maybe the same or less to run new wiring for hds systems as well. Storage, live well space, and HP may be what you want to look at as they (boats) all will handle water as good as you are able to. I use my boat in 900 acres lakes up to over 55,000 acres and never had an issue, and my lakes are plagued by pleasure craft large and small.

They would loan you a portion that you want and rate would be based off of subjective value. No reason to borrow full value though, just borrow enough to cover taxes, and pay as you go. interest does start the moment you borrow.

2012 fish

I love the feeling as well- although I seem to lose the bigger ones- we usually catch at least one a year for the last couple of years like this. Not yet this year...but usually we get them in the fall anyhow. I have lost them this size after 30 minutes or so...this guy does not but he lets me take the picture. Always bass or striper fishing, with bass tackle. 2011 fish

They will eat quite a bit of different things but mostly seem to chase baitfish, whichever kinds you have in your water. They cover lots of water, and at different areas of the water column with sporadic feeding. At this point in the year, you should find windblown areas would be the best bet. I fish windblown points at dusk personally- not sure if you have that option though. They can be easy to catch some days, more difficult others as they can disappear pretty quickly. I think large jigging spoons, lead head/swim bait combos work best as you can cover the entire water column. If they are busting on top, does not really matter what you have on, throw something near and pack mentality takes over and you should be able to get hits. Timing is everything on these though, and a boat to chase them around helps...
