SIU grad here but live in Central IL now. Used to fish all of those lakes- There is someone on here who lives and fishes down there so hang tight you may here a bit more info. They still stock Devils kitchen with trout?

Without getting into how sick the whole situation is/how wrong it was I think the NCAA took the path of least resistance. First off, I dont think by any stretch of the imagination that you could not have just shut the entire program down- think if this type of thing happend in the private sector. I dont think that company would be around very long. With this decision the NCAA can now say they laid down a harsh penalty, which in reality will essentially shut down this program long term. NCAA can also say they are going to fight the basis of coruption in major college programs, where policing themsleves is the norm. Win-win for NCAA. Lose-lose for the victims of this situation, and it will do nothing to prevent future coruption at other universities. (All corruption, not child rape, thankfully).

Good god I dont know- but if you could calculate thrust vs. power it would seem like you would have a 5hp!!!

Even if I did not live in IL, I feel no need to walk around armed. They stay at home by law, and by choice (range and hunting excluded). I certainly respect others choices however.

175txw here, but would be happy to answer any questions you have; did bit of comparing as well prior to purchase. The factor that caused me to get the 175 was only the length of my garage. If you do not have that issue the only difference really is the rod locker is 6 inches bigger on the 190 at 8.5. I dont have rods larger than 7'6" anyhow, so the 8' rod locker on the 175 works just fine. Most important however is the max hp difference on the two- 190 at 135, 175 at 75hp. The 75 carries me almost 50 gps. I would have gone fiberglass if not again for my garage- was not wide enough. The 190 will come with a 46# thrust TM, I bumped that way up on mine and you will want to as well. Installing new electronics is very easy- just unscrwing panels running short wires. The only draw back i see on the 190 is that they only put a 16gal livewell on it. It can fill up quick, and is why i fish tourneys alone. Better that way in my mind though. If not very easy to go from livewell to deathwell. One last thought- you will want to change out your motor support-they come with very cheap and insufficient supports.

Have not used them in a few years, but if i remember right I actually switched to non-superline hooks so the smaller diameter would hook up better. I believe i used 4 as well though either way.

It will be worth it- temps are normally pretty high so most should be able to take it.

yes!!! run the merc oil and keep your empty containers. Some places will refill your old container at discount from their bulk stock. Well worth calling around. $35 per gallon from bulk.

Our lakes around here i find them on the fish finder, and drop small plastics on their heads. So far so good.

I dont go past state park ramp once the water gets hot, fish mostly back towards the intake. Been catching them on 16ft ledges and points pretty regular. Water was around 93. 2 weeks ago they were busting shad though in about 2 feet of water on flats near channel swings- smallies included, midday. weird.

Evergreen this past weekend- used to be a "big fish" lake- not so much anymore. Clinton bass size is still good, numbers solid. Just have not been there for 2 weeks. Looking foward to getting more south the next couple of weeks- Kinkaid area. May take a trip to rend and carlyle as well. Better yet if I can get over to lake of the ozarks and catch lots of good fish- but that is a bit more than a weekend trip...

Lots of fish in central IL- size way down though. catching mostly 14-15 inch fish on 10-12 inch worms on drops. Can not seem to find the groups of bigger fish.

Data on IL is incorrect- not sure about the other states. However, IL is only at just over 13 LMB, smb 6 and change, spotted i believe 7 and change.

About the same rub I use. I spray more than just apple cider vinegar to get better color I add 50% more actual apple cider to the mix. You can also start to mix cider with your rub and start to try injecting- i think it makes a big difference. Also, I foil it up once it has got enough smoke and add more rub, butter, etc. Last but not least, being an Illinois guy i use fruit woods to smoke- mesquite is very harsh and you can over do it real easy imo. Try an easier wood next time if you have it available. I will say though...never too hot to fish!

There is no better plastic worm in my mind, and always have one tied on 7 or 10 inch. Always in pumpkin seed. I have to put the year on the 100 count bags so i know what order to use them in. A bag i got in 2010 is working great, just opened it this weekend.

zip ties, electrical tape, shrink tubing and wire crimps. Several different screwdrivers that i know are sized right for screws on my boat/electronics, a few with long handles, and more importantly a few real stubby ones. Several wrenches and sockets- again sized to what I know I need. small pair of bolt cutters for errant hook sets. have not had to use them yet though. Last but not least- a hammer. Not sure why, but maybe someday I will actually need it. Carry it all in a small bag.
