What is the max diameter difference in fluro to braid using a uni to uni that you guys are using? Not quite walking a fine line, but feel like I may be getting pretty close. Light finesse stuff here on a bc and I think I am happy but have not tested the knot quite yet on a good fish… Trying to walk a fine line of braid diameter not too thin for too much digging into the reel; and the right combo of fluro leader. Looking for some personal feedback. Thanks, Mark

I am a bit surprised at the responses however it may look to be a lack of research on some of the items. For example, the ugly stix are some of the best rods out there- I would never have one for any sensative work- or really any bass application altogether. My striper rods and even a musky rod is set up with them. Get a big striper tied up in some wood and an ugly stix is the perfect tool for the job. Same with the spro bbz...I have caught some pretty decent fish throwing it- do i have a box full?... no- but have on days cleaned up with one. Send me your stix and bbz if you want! Me- I have broke two carrot rod but why i bought them in the first place is my own dumb fault. They actually were comfortable rods, and quite frankly when i set the hook and the rod exploded my buddy and laughed for a couple minutes. It may have been worth it actually. My only one true regrettable purchase was not maxing out the TM thrust on my boat. I have since changed that, but it was expensive and burned some valuable time. That is what true regret is, poor planning and execution on my part. It is hard for me to blame a one brand or another just for sucking at what they do, it is my fault if i buy them again...so i wont name any names here...

I don’t get to log on here often enough. I could say the same of fishing I guess. Like many my family, work, leaking roof, life in general, etc, always keeps me a short flip away from fishing more; or at least reading about fishing more at a place like here. In regards to family- most of us would trade a double digit (NLMB excluded ) for just a bit more time with our loved ones- and the rest of the things we do in our lives we are typically doing for our family/future anyhow. Being an Illinois resident we have our fair share of problems. We have crime, budget deficits, unemployment, hunger and any other issue the world over has. We also have a cold season with either hard water or frozen ramps for much of the year. Many of us do have power generation lakes close however… always a welcome break. It is that bastion that keeps me going in the bad months around here- the power plant lakes. Much like this website it provides year round good fishing. It teaches. It changes. It adapts to an environment in motion. It had been awhile since I had been on a lake like that until recently, same with this website. Once you go back, you forget why you did not go back sooner. I came back today to this site, and much like that power plant lake of recent I saw familiar things i liked. Some great info, prevalent commenters, admins, tactics, motivation and support (on the lake: channel cuts, points, etc.)- I took great comfort in all of this. - Heck, I can honestly say even some of the advertisers here I take comfort in. A handful that have earned a decent market share of my usage to boot. I fish a lot, and am thankful every day I can. I cant say I am able to visit here as often as I want nor fish as often as i need, and am likely a strange face when I do show here. This place does not treat you like a stranger however. It feels much more like a bar you just belly up to and feel right at home. So here is to you Bass Resource, to you the bar stool, and to the fish we hope to catch and talk about at both places this year. I would find out about the warrenty...not sure i would want a used 2013 boat, might as well get a new 2013 boat. Engine break in is really important to the warrenty as well if it is transfered to you. The gear sounds nice to come with it- but have a local hook the laptop and hose up to the engine and let you know it all looks good. Will give you exact hours and everything else you need to know.

Mostly casting the spoons actually- just waiting up on flats waiting for the stripers and wipers to chase the shad up in the evenings. Once they do, the flatheads just wait under at the dropoffs for easy pickings. Been a fun year!

yes, clinton. Lost an even bigger one on friday though after a 45 minute fight. Got some of the fish on video however still not the same as hoisting that thing up. Most fun i have ever had, 5'6'' pistol grip rod medium, 12 # test. Somthing had to give and sorry to say it was on my end.

did not get the weight, but measured 48". Lost another big one on Friday. Spoon fishing again, hooked up and fought for around 45 minutes and then the line broke. Buddy did get it on video, so will try to post once he sends it. At least we did get to see this fish, just not boat it...it was biggest thing i had ever hooked into, still mad...

Wipers and Stripers are starting to come in packs again. Great fun. No big stripers, but some real nice sized wipers so far. Kept quite a few smaller ones. Several big flatheads as well, all on spoons.

Reminds me of a "hearse"...that or an '87 buick grand national.

48". about two years to the date and 6" shorter than caught last time out of this lake. Full of big ones we catch fishing for bass every year, usually not this big though. I had to take pictures though, only time i have had one close to this big it got off.

Great fishing this weekend- did not even take the bass rods out- looking for bigger fights and found them with wipers and flatheads on spoons. Fileted a few wipers for the weekend meals.

I would say learn to use a drift sock and save money.

my tracker does the same- but only in the most heavy of down pours. the rod locker is the only one that stays dry- too much water for just the one small hose on the side lockers. Double check to make sure all the hoses are connected to the nipple connector and not just dumping water straight to your compartament. Under the seats will get wet- i keep only spare life jackets and bouys under there, and open after every use. No biggie really, I have only had what happened to you happen to me once in three years, and again it was in what felt like a tropical storm. The rest of the time they work as advertised. The dealer is not going to do anything with or to your boat- dont count on that, there is nothing they can fix.

Fish kills, very low water. Fish suspended over deep water. Fishing is actually terrible this summer- sizes are way down as well. We are getting a bad run here in IL.

Really depends on the lake but really all things considered, no. Fishing during a tourney that you are not in is a real PITA though! Kowning the release point for tourneys and fish disbursment over time can help pluck a few easy ones, but you never really know.

Yes, as they stated it will burn. You should make two batches in seperate bowls. One regular sauce for injecting prior to/brushing on the chicken as it cooks. - raw chicken, so dont make your thick sauce with this one as it really will not cook down. In the seperate bowl make your thick sauce- it would be best to add the cornstarch in it with room temperature ingredients, and as stated in small amounts. Then, just add that sauce to the chicken for the last couple of minutes and you will be set.

Making your own, correct? If so and you want it real thick, I would just dashes of cornstarch until you get it thick as you want it. apply to chicken in the last couple of minutes and shut off heat and let them sit in there for 5 minutes or so to adhear.

Fished clinton on Saturday. Fishing was pretty slow actually- but only got in around 4 hours before i had to head to a different body of water. Anyhow, there was a fish kill there- was told around 1000 fish. I would assume a good number could have been stripers, but i also expect the fishing to be a bit slow. Hope i am wrong. Fish were on ledges a bit, but also some pushing up against wood as bwell stated. I threw a jig and trigged as well.

Wow...this says it all about Tebow. Great athlete, horrible, horrible football player by NFL standards. It really was the D that won those games, but you have to look at the data when he was qb, and not the whole season whenhe was not. 3rd and 4th dwon conversions at 25%, almost as many interceptions as touchdowns allowed, 15pts avg per game. It was the D that allowed HS football to win those games. I really dont know, this for fact, but i do not believe he made over a 50% completion rate...

Just joking around a bit, and completly understand. I know i visit a few hp limited lakes and am stuck with my TM- gets really borning standing there going accross the lake for 20 minutes. Wish i new more to help you, good luck with it all.
