Yes- I throw trout, hitch, etc and no trout around so no worries there. ST 36 would be fine but has longer shank and not super strong. I use ST 56 size 2 not 2/0 and don't feel like I would need to go to a ST 66- but I don't have Georgia fish...if I did I would use at least 56 or 66 for strength, as well as short shank. I am sure that would be good for leader, are you using that to attach to hook to eye or from mainline to lure? I personally would bump that up as well quite a bit...but in all reality it technically should hold but again...you are in Georgia and who knows what may bite.

Most likely they are setting up on something- may be a ledge underwater you cannot see, or rock sticking out from the wall 20 ft down, depth change, etc. The two things I would investigate if I were you are pretty simple and may explain quite a bit for you. Check angle of the sun//shade and wind direction along the bluff- when and where you caught your fish. Two- thermocline level if you can locate it. Worm will work just fine in 90 water. Do you know what your bottom composition is? I assume hard bottom?

When fishing structure with no visible "cover" as what it sounds like you are fishing, you most likely will not get hit on that initial fall. If you are fishing visible cover, like a laydown, or dock, or whatever a bass may set up to ambush off of, then if the correct cast/cast angle was made you could get hit on the initial fall as it goes into its territory. When plying structure though like hump, point, or whatever it is you are fishing, then they will be at different spots and angles at different times of the day/year, sun angles, water current, etc. Most of the time I would suspect you cast over, along, etc. to the structure and hop your bait into the zone you figure the fish are at. Sounds like you are doing everything correct, and are comfortable with what you are throwing so I would not change that...and this is coming from a guy that also dislikes braid.

What Franco said- not all that hard, but time is money so that is cheaper to some than others. Cheap parts for the most part. An extra pair of hands is recommend though.

To further confuse the situation, I use 1oz hair and living rubber jigs with great results. It is a huge bait that may even have a 5-6 inch trailer as well. Hair jig is just another tool- make sure your weight and line/rod match your use and fish them at the depth fish are at, and you will get bit. I have 3oz hair jigs for stripers as well, but that is another topic altogether. what kind/size jigs do you have? Weed guard? football head, etc? There are lots of different factors, but really a hair jig will work year round, any body of water really.

Cover will dictate what you need as stated. But also very important is amount of line out you will have. When fishing points and deep ledges if I want really long cast I use a heavy rated rod so that I can set the hook if a fish hits in 20 feet of water at the very end of my cast. So even in open water, I may use a heavy with a bait that only finishes at 3/4. All rods are different though, and I think a MH sounds like what you want. if you are missing hooksets, retie on a heavy.

Have your own children and bring them with you. At that point you will be so distracted by your own children that the birds will not be a bother. Kind of a long term plan but 100% guaranteed to work.

I have my lowest number of over 5's this year- but I also have fished about half the amount I would normally have. Would love to see some big smallies show up on this board though.

I am struggling on 5's this year let alone bigger- we will have to take a trip to Clinton though. I would say a big smallie would for sure count- That would be worth more in my book.

Always up with a savor. Don't think I have ever seen it any other way except very small outboards. However, I do lower it after getting home to make sure any additional water drains.

No prob...Rainbow sounds off, but it is a very slight hue in the flat back series and works well.

Not sure what size hook are on the swim jigs- but what I use in my parts for this exact same pattern you are trying to match is the Berkely Flatback Shad in "Rainbow" color. May want to check it out as it sounds like what you may be looking for. I use typically on a size 5 jig rigged through the horizontal portion and hook ups are great. For smaller rigging- I go with the Berkley Beat Shad in smoke black purple or oyster shell gold- not a huge fan of smaller rigging anymore though...

You don't have to pay it until the next FY taxes are filed so you would have the boat without spending...and you can repay in installments to cover if you choose to the gov't. Also- would be pretty easy to give the title to a bank and loan 20k on a brand new free and clear rig like that. Paying interest on taxes is less than ideal, but I would take it in a heartbeat.

Meat trip. Caught a bunch of crappie, and 4 channel cats on 6 inch swimbaits. Two bass tourneys on Clinton Sunday and did not feel like fighting over so little water. Was fishing the dam area for wipers- and kept catching cats. Lots of fun though, need to get back to bass fishing though.

No but may try and head there over the weekend/tonight. May just head to Evergreen tonight since i am feeling a bit lazy. Will post results if any good.

Current setup is a tracker 175txw , 12v ,hds5 gen 2 at helm, elite 4 color at bow. I am wanting to add a hds7 gen 2 to the ram mount and move the 5 to the bow. I also am going to add the lss2 package. Question I have is has anyone had any issues with this set up out of aluminum boats and interference of any kind? Also, with only a 12v running all of this I feel like I should change over to a 24v system which I would like to run my TM off of anyhow. As any of you know with trackers though- really not much room left to play with. Thoughts?

Thank you all- thats what i was looking for. Darren- that is the exact diameter i am working with 20# pp and 15# fluro- and have felt that the braid would cut the knot at that difference. Looks like I may need to look into the alberto knot again- Honestly I have not tied one in a some time. I also clearly never use careless puns for any reason...ever
