  1. For one you dont get that 2 or three times i have said going from a 75 to a 90 in merc opti. But we wont let symantics get in the way. I dont need a new lower unit!!!!! they are the same!!!!!
  2. franco- you just dont get it dude- you are arguing against yourself. parts are the same and you can upgrade it yet manufactorers have the different limits essentially to make various price points- thus creating more expensive boats. That is my point that you pointed out as well.
  3. Doug Stange in some northern waters, my usual fishing buddies cant be beat though. Anyone who owns property on a good striper lake would be fine by me.
  4. No, but I can make a paid for free and clear 75hp into a 90 with only $325 instead of buying a new 90 for $7100. In reality, with the rpm boost top end will only be up slightly, and hole shot may be worse. Boat is only rated to 75hp where as the year before it was rated 90hp, so even if I wanted to I could not just throw $7100 up in the air. it is the same weighted block, cylinder, etc. yet merc charges more for what is a ECM change and a more open air intake on the optimax- thus why I have this "problem" and how it is applicable to the discussion of why boats are overpriced. Long story short- feasible, applicable, yet would make my boat essentially illegal in a sense, so really have no intentions of pulling it off.
  5. Just 90 actually. As always keep up the positive thoughts.
  6. You can throw away the warrenty, but no it would not cost more than buying a new unit. The problem is some boats (my boat) model year had a lower hp than the year previous- and if we are talking the same weight motor than after the warrenty is up i would like to upgrade- just would have to work within the means of the current max hp listed.
  7. So a reprogram, along with changing out the airflow would essentially upgrade the motor?...interesting.
  8. I use it and like it as well- however i have broken off quite a few fish- fishing sharp rock edges and rocks though i have to expect it- great manegable line, just have to make sure to retie often which is tough when on fish!
  9. My promblem is with Mercury. Dont get me wrong I love the motors, they have had issues but give 5 year warrenty- but the various engines are all on the same blocks. 75, 90 115, all the same. i believe 225 and 250 are the same as well. Why...i dont know.
  10. Shoot me a pm and i may be able to set you up with a map of runs of what i would do. There is normally a lot of pressure on that lake on the weekends, but there are some great fish to come out of it.
  11. I believe it peaks the curiosity more, and has the ability to attract from a distance so if you did not make that perfect cast onto structure then you may still get its attention. That does not mean it will bite it however…
  12. Thank you much.
  13. I have zero warning points- i will take that as a good thing i guess. Am I the only one that can see that for myself, or is that visible to everyone. Just curious. Thanks.
  14. Go main lake point hopping and you will catch fish. Fish west end of the lake.
  15. I agree- i also work in banking- a typically conservative industry. Skinny ties and fitted suits are in, and they look good.
  16. not at all- i wear one five days a week.
  17. Post and let us know- will be heading down this weekend.
  18. Did not think the stuff went bad- I have had the same batch on my boat for over two years. Dont use it much- need to start.
  19. I would think that of the top two or three fish all would be from the sunfish family. I don't think it would come to a hatfield-mcCoy situation- I am sure the data is out there somwhere though.
  20. Headed down for a week- anyone have a good pattern going? Most i can tell is crappie are crapped out, bass should be full on.
  21. I have found folks with negative reactions tend to make the most noise- which is a shame, that when someone has had a pleasant experience they usually keep the noise level low.
  22. I want to argue that I do not want to pay for others mistakes as well- however i do own a couple of glx's and would love to think that at least i have the option for a fix- albeit I may never need to.
  23. It is impossible to hate the smell of bacon. For fishing, you are on the right track with jjs or megastrike though and leave the bacon for your belly
  24. that bag of bacon would not last 5 minutes in the truck wth me!!!!
