Lucky 13
Love the stuff!! Other than a blowup on a frog, there’s Nothing in the world of Bass fishing better than punching a 1-2oz weight through thick pads of hyacinth and hydrilla, with swimming a worm or pitching in and through areas of milfoil right behind Mike

Somebody School Me - Catching Big Bass
All good and correct answers. Since you didn’t say what size worm you used, the only thing I would change is going to a 4/0 hook if you used anything bigger than a robo worm sized plastic. If you feel the need to double set then your hook IS too small or not sharp. Your gear is not the problem. Mike

Rebel Pop-R and Heddon Tiny Torpedo
Both Let the fish tell you how they want it. I usually start it faster and loud and then slower as it gets closer mixing it up for a few subsequent casts. Take note on where and how they hit. Mike

Red hooks losing red fast
Don’t want to turn the subject of @Smells like fish intent, but I am the least color coordinated person you’ll ever meet, Especially when it comes to color of fishing gear! But yeah, I’m one of those ?? Mike

Red hooks losing red fast
They’ve always been like that and haven’t heard of another brand that doesn’t chip. I thought about using a hardener like clear nail polish but it’s not worth the effort to me. Mike

FLORIDA summertime slump
You got good responses for what to use. However, you can’t catch ‘em if you can’t find ‘em Check these boxes when you’re out there and have a plan of what to use as above. 1st…Clean Water (I prefer tannic) 2nd…Current 3rd…Submerged vegetation 3rd…Hard vegetation break line into deeper water 4th…Isolated reed, pad and floating vegetation mats 5th…Shell beds All that will give you an idea of what to look for throughout the day. Fir the most part anywhere you go on almost any lake down here that has those features, cover and structure will hold fish during various parts of the day. Good Luck Mike

Mr Lucky
Luck? I don’t think so. You stopped where you did because you thought about it and DECIDED to stop there. You DECIDED to rig a bait for the technique you DECIDED would give you the best chance to get bit. You considered all the variables before you DECIDED to picked up the rod with the right action and right line spooled on right reel with the best reel speed for what you DECIDED to tied on. Then you DECIDED to throw where you did given your experience and your ability to process it all. The luck comes in, in that the fish was there in the first place which you have no control over and you made all those DECISIONS correctly. Mike

Old Trick Revisited
I use a “punch skirt” about 60% of the time when pitching a creature bait in moderate cover. Never felt the need when actually punching. It adds bulk and gives a different look than almost everyone else’s presentation. Another thing I do is I’ll add a skirt to swim worm..speed worm, Cut R, ribbon tail etc. The trick to those is every once in awhile I’ll pull or give a few quick turns of the reel to make it flare and then kill it. You’re Welcome Mike

Other uses for crankbait rod

Braid on Bait caster
Absolutely! Of all the different types of fishing line sold braid is more of a “specialty” line. It excels for only a small number of specific techniques. Mike

The Devils Horse away from Florida?
I always add spit rings to the hook hangers. I read somewhere a long time ago that it’s a leverage thing when fighting the fish and helps in hook ups especially when they only grab the rear treble. I tried it and believe it. I’ve been doing it ever since. As far as modifying the spinner, I leave the front alone and just rotate the rear. I’ve had a problem lately getting a Boy Howdy to run straight right out of package. At a B.A.S.S. Federation Pro/Am last month my pro gave me a Devils Horse with the same mod’s but with red hooks and the difference was immediate. Mike

The Devils Horse away from Florida?
Punchin Frog Prop baits It is true, those baits In that order have won more money, tournaments and produced more personal bests than any other combination of baits down here than anything else. Period OP If you hone your skills and learn your waters, you can use those anywhere in the country with similar conditions. There are some modifications and variations to each you can do, but even used as designed and intended there are none better. There aren’t any one trick pony type baits when fishing for bass. Don’t pigeon hole yourself thinking there is. Mike

The Free Rig - Everything You Need To Know
Maybe it’s me but I don’t understand how any unpegged weight sliding freely wouldn’t give the same effect. I agree with @Catt I don’t see the difference for rigging a t rig Mike

Old injury flaired up…
I know the feeling. I hope you’re right! Without going to see the doc the best thing is to do nothing..I mean nothing. No lifting, bending or twisting and use a lot of topical heat. I hope you feel better soon. Mike
