Best advice for a new bass angler?
Nothing can replace time on the water...Period Get yourself a quality rod and reel, one that fits in your budget, pick up a few of the most popular plastics, a few hard baits, various sizes and styles of terminal tackle and go have some fun. Don't try to learn everything all at once. Bass fishing can be as hard or as easy as you make it. Your confidence will increase with each outing as will your skill level. We can teach you how to work any bait made, but you're the one who'll have to do it. Sooo, the best advise I can give you is just go do it and don't worry about it. You'll learn and have more fun that way. After all its just fishing! Good Luck to you Mike

#50 or #65 power pro for froggin on slop?
I have used both, but given the waters I fish in down here especially Big O, I just don't feel confident enough in anything less. 2 boaters I was with at 2 BFL's last year won't use anything less than 80# and I know there are more. Performance wise the 15# difference between the 50 and 65 is no big deal given what you're useing it for. Yes, you may may get a few more yards throwing a frog with the 50# but when punching it's a non issue. Its hand to hand combat 5ft from the boat. I want every and all advantage perceived or not for every flip. Mike

#50 or #65 power pro for froggin on slop?
I fish the Big O more than any other body of water and use 50# for frogging and 65# for punching are they are only 2 braids I use. If they work well here, they'll work anywhere. Mike

Before you make your first cast ...
Man O Man can't really add much more than what was already written. Before the first cast I always make sure I have a fresh knot, plastic is straight and have a good idea where I want to start and end up. Mike
