  1. Ordered more skip gap hooks..I'm starting to use these more and more. Mike
  2. It could have been worse for many, and couldn't be worse for some..I'm glad you're the former. Mike
  3. I just don't get why so many are having so many problems useing flouro..(well I kinda do) As I stated in my post above...Use what you have confidence in obviously, but for me if I ever was gonna change lines it certainly wouldn't be to any mono. Mike
  4. Anyone use or have used one of these for heavy cover flippin, pitchin or punchin? I need to get another rod for these and wanted something a little on the lighter side as some days I won't put it down. I was thinking about an Okuma Mat Daddy but a few friends who know how I like my rods felt that it would be a little too soft for my likeing. Of course I will be testing one in the store with the reel and line I plan to use (65lb or rare occasions 80 lb power pro) before I buy it, but before then I just wanted a few opinions from anyone who actually fished it. Max weight I will be useing would be a 2oz but the majority of the time a 3/4 to 1 1/2oz. Thanks Mike
  5. I would never stretch a line out like that especially flouro. You are taking a very real chance that you've weakened the line beyond repair especially if useing a cheaper quality product. Its not like mono where it would recover. Flouro does not. Just spray some conditioner on it when you're done. Mike

Look.... I couldn't care less what a reporter reports or doesn't report. You and other folks who don't live anywhere near here have no idea what it's like to live through one of these. To imply that this hurricane or any hurricane that effects people's lives is anything but an life altering event is just plain insulting. Not only to the people who lost their homes, everything they own, but worse yet to the memory of the people who lost their lives! I would never ever minimize the effects of a tornado, flood or any other natural disaster that may effect any region of the country, because it's nothing but that.. A Disaster!! Mike
  11. Ditto all the above Mike
  12. Stop trying to cast into heavy cover. Get yourself some heavier weights based on the depth of the water you're fishing and slow down.. Pitch tex posed/t rigged plastics into every small hole or wider openings you can reach working your way back. If you are intent on casting into it, you must use the right equipment and baits to do what you want to do as others have explained. Mike
  13. Sounds good!! Mikey likes it ?

  17. Hey Fellas Well we made it through with minimal damage. It didn't start out that way. 5:00 yesterday Morning one of my daughters neighbors knocked frantically on our door saying that the electrical lines were on fire. Sure enough the wind was blowing the top of an oak tree on the main power line for the neighborhood. The line was sparking and embers were flying around on the street and on her front lawn. Mrs Mike called the power company who told her it was border line if anyone would come because the wind was picking up fast, and no one would be allowed out when the wind reached 40 mph. 20 min later an electrical truck came and said they "don't do trees, but would write it up" We kept an eye on it and when a big gust came the line started on fire. A 2ft flame was coming out of the line. It was smoking, so bad we could breathe. After a while the tree caught fire and burned the top off! but was still smoking. Anyway we're good but Still without power. It certainly could have been lot worse for sure. Thank You everyone for your kind thoughts, well wishes and prayers. You guys are the reason I'm a member here. Mike
  18. I wanted to jump on here real quick and Thank all those who pm'd me, and for all the posts with thier best wishes. It looks like we're gonna take a direct hit as she is now coming up the SW coast where we live. We're as safe as we can make it and just waiting for the hammer to fall. The wind is steady at about 20 with gusts a lot more and getting worse by the hour. They say we'll be in the eye wall about 2:00 and will be for hours as the wall is 80 miles wide. We're about 20 miles from the Gulf so the storrm surge won't be a factor for us but 130 mph winds are. My granddaughter has MS and has specialized equipment so we can't leave without a greater risk to her, so we've been advised to ride it out. Anyway thanks again, and to all my fellow Florida residents on here I wish you all the best. May God protect you and your family. We'll get through this..My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Mike

Gotta bug out fellas! My son is on a barrier island off Melbourne on the east coast and they must evavuate by 3:00 pm tomorrow. He has a motorhome and heading north tonight. He doesn't know where he'll end up but at least I know he'll be safer than taking it head on which they're expecting.. My problem now is that my daughter is on the sw coast where my home is and Mrs Mike and I are still tying to get to them as my granddaughter has MS and very sick. I stayed for Hurrican Charlie and swore I wouldn't do that again, this time is different. Gotta bug out guy's..Grab the kids and go, the rest is just stuff Mike
