What Constitues A Confidence Lure
I have confidence through success also useing some baits but only in some circumstances. I know that if I use a certain shaped bait in cerain areas I have a better chance of catching a fish over some other bait because I've had success in the past useing it. Which gives me the confidence to use it again if the situation is the same. Example.. A compact beaver stlye bait (Sweet Beaver) for flipping in the slop over some other plastic with a lot of appendage's (Brush Hog) I'll throw a frog over pads and through grass first before a walking type top water bait (Spook), then a popping type lure (pop r) along the edges of that same area. But I do it in that order. Mike

Shallow Cold Water Lilys
What Catt said if you're gonna cast into them. I like to throw a spook, or work a pop r first along the outer edges. If nothing then a sq bill, followed by a jig. Mike

Braid Fishermen, Do You Ever Go Back To Mono?
Like most of you there was a time when it was mono and nothing else, so that is what we used. Now since we have all these different choices of lines to go with all the different types of presentations, useing all different rod lengths, actions, materials etc. etc. etc. It's enough to make a guy goofy. Eventually we all find what works for our waters, our equipment and our level of ability. For me... It's braid for anything in the weeds. Floro for anything on the bottom. Co Poly for moving baits. Am I doing it right? Do I have the right rod with the right line? Tyed to the right lure? Throwing in the right place? Hell, I don't know but I like to think so. At least untill the next great thing comes along Mike

Bait Cast Gear Ratio For Topwater ?
For me a mid to high 6 with a ipt in the mid to high 20's is ideal for a walking bait, including buzz, poppers, jitterbugs etc. For frogs or anything else you would normally throw in cover I use a higher speed...Ideally high 20's to low 30's of ipt. Mike

Knots
If you would have asked this 5 yrs ago I would have said the clinch for everything except for braid which has always been the Palomar. But since finding the San Diego Jam and learning the corect way to tie it, and trusting it, that is what I use now exclusively for all line types except braid. Mike

What Trumps All?
Can't catch em fish they're not there... Can't catch em if they're there and don't want to eat... Can't catch em if they're there, want to eat but just don't like what they see... Can't catch em if they're there, want to eat, like what they see, and then get turned off by what you did or didn't do, the weather etc. Tell me why we do this again... Mike

7Ft Jerkbait Rod
I'd like to know that myself. I specifically got a 6' med rod for jerks and poppers because it's just so much easier. I use 10# mono Mike

Pitching Sitting
I do it also. Sometimes it not too gracefull, and distance will suffer, but yes sometimes I just can stand for 9 hours with sitting a minute. Hook sets are a litle weaker tho. The best time to do it is when skipping under a dock or low hanging trees. I'll put my pitching stick down and use a shorter rod. Makes it much easier. Word of caution...if you try it from the boat's passenger seat, you have to be very, very good. Mike

Big Mouth Forever
The one that sticks with me the most is the one where a fish inhales a jerk bait with 3 trebles in a flash, and then spit's it out just as fast. True definition of a Large Mouth. Mike
