  1. For me its the Big O and the Kissimmee River after a major cold front. They just sit in one spot and shiver for a few days where you cant get to them or they just swim by and laugh at me. Mike
  2. It is. Trust me when I tell you, if you can find a MH/F for the E7, you'll never want to move it. I had 65# braid on at one time and used it exclusively as my heavy cover punching outfit and it did ok. As a dedicated bottom contact combo for all types of presentations, from shaky heads to flippin and pitching in moderate to heavy cover, for me its darn near perfect. Mike
  3. I don't use individual weights placed on the line. I will wrap the hook shank with lead if I need a little more depth on a suspending jerk bait, or add a little on a floater. Mike
  4. On my spinning outfit which is the only time I will use a leader, it's 20# braid with a 12# or 15# leader. Mike
  5. The only time I use a leader is on my spinning outfit, and that is only used for finesse presentations. Which for me is only wacky and shaky rigging. Mike
  6. The combo I use the most which has become my favorite is a Fenwick Techna AV with a Curado E7 reel. It's my plastics combo. With 15# Invisex it's darn near perfect for what I do. Mike
  7. Happy Thanksgiving From my family to yours! Mike

  9. When I throw a soft swim bait, which is a lot, it's always either a skinny dipper or a Big EZ. If I'm throwing on top or in really shallow water I use a pegged glass bullet and rig it with a 5/0 or 6/0 Owner twist lock hook. If throwing in water say 4' to 6'ft I use a 1/16 or 1/32 pegged bullet weight just ticking the top of grass and letting it fall into any holes, or where the grass thins out more. A 1/4 oz molded belly weighted hook is also a good option if you want it to fall horizontal. In really dirty water or on windy days, I like useing the Gambler Duz It Swimbait hook. It's a 6/0 hook with a nickel colored willow spinner blade attached to the shank which you can adjust to change the fall angle if you want. The skinny dipper is unique for a swim bait as the ridges along the side of it are angled toward the head which displaces more water than a flat sided one like the Big EZ. But the Big EZ has a totally different action. Also, skinny dippers are a great trailer on a chatter bait, just cut off the head and you're good to go. Have Fun Mike

  15. Me Too... No backing SDJ knot Mike
  16. The only time I used a 10xd was at this years Bass Resource's roadtrip on Wilson Lake this past April. I picked up a Phenix X11 composite, paired it with a Jm Sig reel, spooled with 12# Yo Zuri which balanced it perfectly. Mike

  18. Simple choices... 15# floro on my plastics rod regardless of cover unless it looks like I can walk across the water. Then 65# braid. Mike
  19. Hmmm I may have to check them out. Mike
  20. Agree... tried them all but settled on the skip gap. I use 4/0 Mike
  21. Always use a trailer hook on a spinner bait but never anything artificial. I use the SK spinners that have a longer skirt section that cover's the main hook, but just barely the trailer hook. Never use a trailer on buzz bait. Mike
