  1. Other than my punching and heavy cover outfit I use braid on 1 other casting set up. I use 30# for frogs, soft swim baits and carolina rig. Currently on my Spinning reel it's 20# with a 12# floro leader. But that's gonna change to 10# Tatsu. I use that for Wacky, Shaky, flukes etc. Mike
  2. Curado E Even tho the I is more..let's say refined with great upgrades, there's just something about that green reel just way it was. Mike
  3. Good suggestion I've been useing them more and more lately. Mike
  4. I don't, but see no reason not too if your rod is sensative enough. I like floro better for bottom contact presentation's in the areas you mentioned, but that's just me. Mike
  5. The Rage bug Rage rigged Shakey head with a trick worm Wacky rigged senko Mike
  6. Ive had the best luck with it Rage rigged. But there really isnt a bad way. Mike
  7. You're probably already gone but The first thing I would try is the Stucture bug raged rigged. Then maybe a shaky head with a trick worm, or a wacky jigged senko, followed by a fluke with a nail weight nearer the tail. Mike
  8. I use only insert free because I want to have the option to add my own when and if I wanted. Mike
  9. Im so sorry to hear about what happened. Best wishes and May God Bless him, and his family. Mike
  10. Ive been useing 12# Yo Zuri on my spinner/chatter outfit for the last 2 years now and have no complaints. I've been useing 15# Invizx on my crank outfit and even tho I like it I'm thinking about switching that one too. Mike
  11. That's really too bad, understandable but too bad. Last year was my first. Mrs Mike and I really enjoyed meeting you and Keri and finally putting a face to a name. We met people that we wouldn't normally have had a chance too, but more importantly we feel fortunate to have had a chance to make new friends. Which is exactly what we did. And for that, I thank you. (Tell Keri Jeannie says Hi) Mike
  12. Ok I'll bite, what's a Cuban YoYo? Mike

  14. Johns way is an excellent way to do it. What I do is fill the spool a little more than 1/2 full, which will be about the same on a 2500 size reel. Mike
  15. Whew I thought I was a pretty smart guy (just ask my grandkids) Until Threads like this are started. A smart man once said.... "The things I know about, I know a lot about them but the things I don't know about, I don't know $*#*" Thanks Fellas, I learned something today Mike
  16. I respect and admire what you did and even more for thinking about going back. Should you...No Will you...I think you probably will. Best Wishes Mike
  17. Welcome! I live about 40 miles south of you. And yes the ponds and canals up your way, and all along the coast are loaded with fish, especially the ones that are hard to get too. When you get some transportation and can come farther south let me know. There is some water in the not so congeasted areas around here that will make you drool Mike
  18. I've swung and missed 1,000 more times and got nothing than swinging and sticking a fish. It happens. Your equipment is fine nothing wrong there. To answer you question..No a 4/0 Is not too big. If you're not doing it already, tex pose the hook point a tiny tiny amount just enough to hold the point in. And keep swinging. If you know there are bass in your pond, all that may be needed is just a color change or a slower presentation. Another thing is try a wacky rig, shaky head or even dead stick a few cats and see how that works. But more importantly dont get discouraged and just keep swinging. When you start to have something pull back remember everything about what you did and how you did it. Then repeat, repeat and repeat again. I'm sure you heard the story of the 3 taps... The 1st tap is the fish picking it up, The 2nd tap is the fish dropping it, The 3rd tap is me on your shoulder asking why you didn't set the hook. It was true 100 yrs ago and it's true today Keep at it, and good luck Mike
  19. Exactlly right! The 3rd point of tying a knot correctly when the tag end is wraped around a standing line is to be certain the wraps are parallel to each other before cinching, and not over lapping. Mike
  20. 7'2" mh/f Phenix M1 castimg ro . Mike
  21. If you think color with contrast works sometimes (most do) then it's a good thing... If you think color doesn't matter (some don't) then it's a good thing... It's all good Mike
