  1. About 15 miles from the mouth of Charlotte Harbor. Between Sarasota/Venice and Ft Myers Mike
  2. They just issued a mandatory evacuation order for my area a little while ago. The storm surge is expected to be over 12ft. Wont be much sleeping around here tonight Mike
  3. Thank You so much Woody! Very Kind of you Mike
  4. Ain’t it the truth!! Mike
  5. My longest rod is a 7’3 and don’t miss my 7’6” at all for any presentation I’m more concerned with the quality of the build, power and action for what I want to use it for. Mike
  6. Pitching with excess slack line (stripping) is really the only way to get a vertical drop for a light weightless plastic. Problem is it’s next to impossible to detect a light hit with braid. Reverse rigging an Ika will make it fall away from you. Mike
  7. Down at 10:00 Up depends on how many times I have to go looking for the bathroom Mike
  8. 8 for all bottom contact 6 or 7 for everything else Mike
  9. I have huge Florida Oak trees around my house (they call them Heritage trees). It took me a week to clean up after the last one, but that just passed close by. I’ve been though many hurricanes in the 43 yrs I’ve been here but other than Charlie I never took a direct hit. Im more worried about my daughter as she lives on the banks of the Peace River. Storm surge and flooding is a real problem especially for folks closer to the coast. Last year folks in Louisiana really took a hit many times as @Catt will agree. @Captain Phil keep an eye on evacuations as you come south. It’s gonna get worse as you travel south. Its staring to cloud up now Be Safe Mike The amount of water isn’t too big of a concern, it’s if the treatment plants go down. Folks with a natural well will be much better off as long as they have a generator Mike
  10. Yep That what I use when rigging for the kids. Mike
  11. We’re pretty much ready. Got everything outside put away and secured as best as I can. Mrs Mike has tried for 2 days to find water and some canned goods but nothing left. She went to 3 stores 10 miles away early this morning to try to find some things but they were almost out also. Im sure there’s stuff on the way. In 2004 Cat 4 Hurricane Charlie went through our area and it was bad. We didn’t have power for 9 days. Hopefully we won’t be in the eye this time Thanks for checking! Fellow Floridians… You guys stay safe out there!! Mike
  12. The farthest I drove to fish a tournament was from SW Fla to the Tenn River. Living within 1-3 hrs from some of the best bass waters in the country and a short 1 1/2 hrs from my home lake, I don’t need to travel any farther. Mike
  13. I thought James N did a good job while he was here. The videos that @Glenn asks some pro’s to do for us, are fir the most part well done and informative. I thought the one from Monday of Michael Neal talking about chatter baits was great! Most everything had been covered if you do a search. They’re geared to the basics which is what I would expect a touring pro would give. Mike
  14. No difference, same thing Mike
  15. 7’2” MH/F casting w/14# flouro Mike
  16. I use the least expensive rods I own for frogs and most top water baits within thier limits based on where I throw each the most. Mike
  17. The same things I do all year Mike
  18. I agree No matter what we think we know about certain baits, techniques and equipment, the in depth, individual, less obvious things others do and don’t do, I think can be invaluable to others. Novice and experienced alike Mike
  19. No reason to apologize, I do it all the time. Mike
  20. Reminds me of our conversations we used to have when I’m fishing, playing poker or at a craps table. ? Mike
  21. He said he did in his original post. Mike
  22. Well, what I’m seeing and hearing is loosely reeled line coming off from being buried a little from line that was spooled on top of it. You can tell that by the line coming off on one far side for the first few revolutions of the spool and the remaining line on the spool at the end of the video is not flat and even. I’d bet if you kept pulling it would all work itself out and come off as it should. Mike
  23. Atta Boy!! It’s been years since I’ve been to Gene and Jude’s, when they say “No Ketchup” They mean it!! (Thanks for posting, gonna have an order sent down here fir the Bears game) @slonezp You must be from the North Side, ‘cause us guise from da sout side call it sauce! ?? Mike
