  1. My other topic prompted this. Anyone put rice in the bottom of their plano boxes. i know rice absorbs moisture wonderfully. Anytime I get something wet, i put it in a bowl of rice for 24 hours or so and it works again. Thinking of putting rice in the bottom of my boxes.
  2. I am maticulous about tackle so it frustrates me when I get rusty gear. I hate getting rust in my plano boxes. When that happens to all of you, do you just clean the rust out or replace the box. Rust spreads, so in my experience, once you get it, you are always cleaning it out at some point.
  3. I understand the point of this is to sell product. But this year, more than any other I have seen since I started watching bassmasters 8 years ago, is filled with product placement. Not sure when, but a fewa years ago, maybe 5-6, people were criticizing Jay Yelas because all he did after losing in the top six, was plug his sponsors. i get it, its their livelihood. But in the past, products/sponsors were plugged here and there. This year, it seems everyfish was caught on a brand new bait. Not that, that didn't happen in the past, but in general, sponsors were just thanked. Now every fish was caught on something new and pros were given lots of time not to talk about their day, but to push product. Come on now, it's not the academy awards.
  4. Not sure if it is good for fishing, but I love that KVD is so dominant. To me it solidifies that fishing is not just something where you drop your lure in the water and wait. His consistency exemplifies that bass fishing is based on skill and not dumb luck. My 2 cents.
  5. I have a curado 7:1,but not sure why. Why 7:1 reels?
  6. I know I am going to start trouble, but I am debating getting rid of my loomis IMX844c. I know this is agreat rod, but is the imx that much better than something like a powell endurance? It terms of sensetivity, my carror stick (Older $150 version) is as sensetive as my loomis. I need some opinions on this. loomis or new powell?
  7. Well, I posted last week how, last week was going to be my first outing after I got the boat ready. Someone replied with, "Don't jink yourself by talking about fishing before the boat is done." Well, found some milky lower unit oil so it was off to repair shop for pressure test. So here I am one week later and I am hopefully good to go. I have no expectations today; I'm just happy to get out. Still have a few more boat things to take care of, but they can wait until a after today.
  8. I live in NJ and I am pretty sure you won't see any fish on beds that early. Not super familiar with that town, but it is in South Jersey correct. If I were you, i would try to find points that taper off into deeper water as well as shallow/weedy flats.
  9. I am ordering my steering cable tomorrow, getting/installing it on Friday. Took off Friday for finishing touches. Putting new fuel filter in, new spark plugs, changing the lower unit oil, and putting in new fuse box. With luck and daylight. i will be out on Saturday. The lake is clear of ice except a small cove. Tackle is almost done. Going to use reels with line from last year, but just happy to get out. It will be pouring but have a BPS Pro Qualifier suit for that.
  10. With a expected snowstorm averted and nice temps, well nice for us, coming this weekend; the boat is coming out this weekend for some work. Although it is not spring and I'm not out yet, getting the boat out is a huge step.
  11. The thump for me. I don't even like the fight that much. I love the casting and the hit.
  12. My buddy and I are driving from NJ to fish the santee for 3 days. was hoping for some help. I will be down there April 4-7. Any help would be great. water temps especially.
  13. I have it and love it here it in NJ in early spring. Gets hot in the suit in summer. I got it last year at the classic. I use it in the winter though when shoveling. Very warm. Also good in the early seasson regardless of rain.
  14. Time to stock up on bps fluoro. Buy two, get one free. Won't mind helping myself to a few RC's either.
  15. Just got done snow blowing (round 1) and I have lousy gloves which got me thinking. I want to find a pair of gloves that I could use early season and late season fishing that would be warm, dry, and flexible. I looked at BPS and they have neoprene gloves but they have slits in them. I want something light weight
  16. in North Jersey. Good point about the snowshoes. I bought the BPS pro qialifier suit last year and it barely rained.
  17. I am selling allmy stuff because there is no way I'll ever fish again. Getting atleast another 12 inches but looking more like 24.
  18. I know you Southern gents get stuck inside rarely, but us fellas up North are locked in. I love the classic, especially all the photos but it gets me excited to go out and there isn't anything I can do about it.
  19. It seems like ESPN/BASS dropped the ball again this year with coverage. Even the adds on espn state that classic starts on Saturday at 10. I am sure they meant the coverage, but it starts this morning. The technology is there as well as the demand for coverage. I liken it to having to get info about the Super Bowl at different intervals of the day. It is very frustrating as a fan.
  20. Here in NJ they are in a weird position too, under the ice.
  21. I read a similar post, but I can't even watch fishing shows anymore.
  22. You don't get ESPN? There will be live weigh ins evyday. You can alsowatch pros fish online with basscast.
  23. Dopn't feel bad. I quit chewing tobacco 2 months ago and cost me around $700. I told my wife that I bought all my fishing stuff in trade for all the money I would spend on skoal.
  24. Looking for a decent 6'8'7 ft. M crankbait rod. Thought about the skeet reese but not sure if I like glass. Din'd want to break the bank.
  25. I have a powell. It is 6'8 M and it it has only been used twice or so in two years. That was another bad purchase. I mostly use my carrot stix now for pitching. I want a MH rod that handles 1/4 oz. jigs pretty well.
