  1. KastKing braid you get from Amazon. Gliss I get direct from Ardentreels.com or Tackledirect.com
  2. Closest NBA team to me is the Cavs. So I have to pay top dollar for the nose bleeds. But when I do go I try to sit high for the entertainment value. I have more fun sitting with the rowdy drunk fans than down low with the "I'm just hear for the game" fans. That's why I love hockey every fan in the arena are rowdy and drunk.
  3. aaaaaaannnnddddddd its ALIVE!!!!!!
  4. I wasn't fishing but last weekend my uncle asked me to help pull his dock and pontoon out of the water for the winter. When we get there it was 22*, snowing, low 40s water temps in northern Michigan (Torch Lake). We get the boat and dock out no problem but the boat lift that has to come out sunk in about 18" of muck. My cousin and I went swimming in nothing but our boxers for about 45 minutes to get the thing unstuck and out of the water. We were numb but burning at the same time. The redness of our skin was starting to turn purple. Not a fun experience and has deterred me from fishing in the cold.
  5. I use Gliss which is a non traditional "braided" line. The color holds up well on it compared to most braided line.
  6. My "Favorite" reels are the Abu Garcia Revo STX (not the gen 3 though) and the Okuma Helios LP. I think for skipping and flipping jigs I would go with another honorable mention the Pinnacle Optimus LTE.
  7. I use the HMX as my dedicated drop shot rod. It has a great soft tip very light and sensitive. I have also had no problem horsing big smallies with it out of Erie and St. Claire.
  8. This thread is 7 years old I hope the OP bought a rod by now
  9. I use the Biospawn Vile Craw almost exclusive because of the crazy action they give even rigged weightless.
  10. Jordan Lee uses Pink braid exclusive on all his braid reels as well. That was another reason I decided to give pink a shot.
  11. Thank You that helps make my decision
  12. I'm 27 and sometimes I feel like a "Dancing Queen"
  13. how soft was the tip on your spinning reel
  14. I am thinking of picking up the Villain 2.0 spinning rod for drop shotting. I have used a Veritas but the tip was so stiff it was difficult to DS with. How stiff or soft is the Villain 2.0 rods. I am looking at the 6'8" ML/XF or 7' M/XF. Currently I swapped the Veritas out for Fenwick HMX M/F and it is a lot better but just not geared towards the low weights I throw.
  15. nothing wrong with poking good fun but I graduated high school and got a gen 2 revo for grad present and then the Gen 3 revo released when I graduated college and got one of those for a grad present along with the original Villain rod.
  16. Medium heavy is a good all around rod. Is it ideal for light lures? No, but it will get the job done.
  17. I'm not looking to create a high end collection just want the Revos, SX specifically, to feed my nostalgia.
  18. I thought I was in the minority for wanting to collect them and was hoping to find Gen 1 and 2 for around $30-$40 but when I seen them still over $100 I was sticker shocked.
  19. I want to pick up some Gen 1 and 2 Revo SX reels. I started fishing baitcasters with the gen 1 SX and want to pick a few up (and possibly STX) reel to start a collection. I originally sold my Gen 1 for 2 and so on so now I have a couple gen 3 and gen 4. I cannot find any on Ebay (there is one and I am the winning bidder so far). However there is a used fishing gear trade in business like Gamestop. I went there looking at the few Gen 2 they have they are asking $100-$120 and have them marked as "collector reels". I never would have thought that Revos would be considered a collectors item or at least not this soon.
  20. I should have never looked at this thread. I am going to spend way too much money dressing up my Revos now.
  21. Watch what pro goes to which company has nothing to do with my buying choice. I watch it and keep track like most people watch and keep track of player movement in other sports. You can ask my wife during the NFL and NHL offseason my life revolves around player movement and transactions. I see sponsorship changes in the same light.
  22. This video is more about leaving hooks in when you gullet hook but I would think the same principle applies to when a fish breaks you off. It is an interesting watch about how fish live with hooks left in them.
  23. I would go MH for the depths you will be fishing.
  24. I did see that Vicious is offering a Navy Blue Braid. I don't know exactly how blue will work but I am thinking of trying in in the spring. I have seen lighter blues for saltwater but not sure about a dark navy blue.
  25. Congrats. I fish Erie a lot for Walleye and know the kind of fight one that size will give ya. Best fight I ever had.
