  1. I have two SX and a X arriving tomorrow according to my tracking. Basically they are a "Step Up" from Gen 3 meaning a Revo X is a S, S is a SX, SX is a STX and so on Compare Gen 3 and 4 specs. As for the Veritas. I was not too thrilled with the 2.0 so I will not be buying the Gen 3.
  2. I do have a dedicated Jig Rod that when I occasionally throw C-Rig I use. I am one of those that has a Dedicated rod for every application. I broke the tip on my previous frog rod and rather buy a new than replace my old one.
  3. I opted for the Ultrex over Power Poles. I fish a lot of rivers and deep water such as Lake Erie and St Claire. The newest generation of spot lock will keep you in the same spot +/- 5 feet. I have also found the more current or wind the better it performs. It also works in Shallow water so not worried about shallow water anchoring. I can say that it'll eat up a battery if you are spot locked for the most of your day like what can happen to me in the water I fish.
  4. I have decided on getting a BPS Carbonlite rod as my new Frog rod. Should I go for the 7' MH/F or the 7' H/XF. Normally I use a little shorter rod like a 6'9" but I'm going to give a 7' a try now.
  5. All the time. I am very confrontational and have always been known to get physical (probably my short temper mixed with playing hockey all my life). I have cooled off some as I get older but I am not afraid to call anyone out at anytime if they are doing something they shouldn't. I will not call out anyone if it is an opinion situation like 90% of the issues this country is facing because everyone as the right to think how they want. But if you are abusive or breaking laws and regulations I have no problem telling you so.
  6. I understand it is made by Daiwa and is basically a Tatula with different branding however my question is what model does it compare to. I have a Cabelas gift card and I am contemplating picking one up. Also would a SV reel fit in it?
  7. I said it before and I'll say it again. It depends on the latest and greatest. When I created an account in 2010 Abu Garcia was the cream of the crop with the 2nd gen Revos. For a small and I mean a month or two Lews became the "best" then on to Shimano and now to Daiwa. All manufactures have their niche brand loyalists but I feel the general opinion sways with the wind. Personally I don't like Magforce break on Daiwa so out of the two I would choose Shimano. HOWEVER, "high end" reels ($250 and up) I choose Abu Garcia. I really like the Revo MGX, MGXtreme and Premiere.
  8. Thank you. Personally I am volunteering my time, writing and experiences. I am not seeking to do this for monetary gain just something I like to do during the winter or evening when I can't be on the water.
  9. If this doesn't belong here I apologize. I am interested in writing articles for fishing websites, publications, blogs, etc. How do I go about sending them to companies for publication? Do I need to be employed with the company or are there sites that will publish freelance writers. I have had multiple articles published in science and psychology journals when I was in College and absolutely love to write.
  10. I'll put my $.02 in. If you are learning to use a baitcaster I would suggest Bass Pro Brand Bionic Plus, Pro Qualifier or Carbonlite. Reason being they are a dual breaking system but the inside is not a traditional centrifugal breaking system it is more forgiving. I started my wife on the Bionic Plus and she loved that reel. I have both the Bionic and the PQ that I will occasionally use on wind days because of their breaking. And keeping with the BPS theme I would pick up the Carbonlite rod to pair which ever with. Reel I would go 6:1 ratio and a 7' MH/F rod.
  11. Its even cool for us Ohioans especially since I live so close to Erie. I'm glad you are safe and pray all your belongings will be safe as well.
  12. Welcome to Ohio. This is the only time people are excited about visiting us.
  13. Even call BPS I bet they can fix it for you while you wait. I know the one by me will.
  14. x2 on Reins plastics on Shakey head
  15. I have a jig, Jerk, squarebill, tied on wasn't sure if I should go spinnerbait or chatterbait route for my other setup. I also am going to look for a morning topwater bite with a buzzbait.
  16. sounds like a worm gear issue to me.
  17. I am fishing an event Sunday on a lake filled with flooded timber. If you had to pick one to fish around stumps and trees would you use a spinnerbait or Chatterbait. I also plan on using buzzbaits, jerkbaits and crankbaits.
  18. I would eliminate 2,4,7 and add a second spinning combo. The three I eliminated could swap with other combos when you know you are planning on using the specific presentation.
  19. I fish Co angler for a few years now. I have 6 setups rigged but most of the time I only bring 4 on the boat unless my boater tells me its going to be a grind. my list is as follows: 6'9" ML F Spinning Combo for weightless 6'10" M F Spinning Combo for Shakey Head and light Weights 6'6" M MF Casting with a 7:1 for topwater, Jerkbait and squarebills 7' MH F Casting with a 7:1 for spinnebait, chatterbait, buzzbait, Carolina rig, t-rig 7'2" Hvy F Casting with a 8:1 for flipping, pitching, jigs, frogs Occasionally I'll take a 6'9" MH F 6:1 as a second MH setup. But only if my boater and I are clueless on what is going on that day.
  20. The Gen 3 Veritas are on the verge of release I believe this month. You can get the 2.0 for as low as $65 new I seen at Walmart website. Edit: Sportsmen's Warehouse has them for $59 as of right this second.
  21. one would be my bottom contact rod but my other would be my cranking stick especially my shallow cranking stick. I say that because you can not only feel what your bait is doing and hitting but you can also feel disturbances around your bait. I get more bites setting the hook on disturbances than I do getting thumped or resistance.
  22. I use 24# gliss with a leader on it. I tie an double uni knot and have had no problem with the guides. The majority of my rods are Carrot Stix which all have the microwave guides. I like them they increase casting distance and I am also more accurate with them (Don't know if its the guides or confidence).
  23. This is why I hated my Tatula when I bought them the day they released. I couldn't set them to produce consistently setting it up like other reels. Now I wish I had one of them to try this way.
  24. If you are casting out and slowly dragging it back than you might as well just Carolina Rig your bait. It'll be much easier and have the same effectiveness.
