Underwater View
I couldn't tell for sure if it was a musky or sturgeon but it looked like it was eating something.

Which reel for my second hand rod?
Ardent Apex tournament ($100) or Apex Pro ($120). The Pro is personally my frogging reel now both are extremely light reels and will cast a mile with no effort.

Rod Warranty
I rod brand I personally like that has a bad reputation and deservedly so to a point but has a great warranty is Carrot Stix. Limited Life Time you do have to pay shipping, don't have to send the broken rod back and you can buy more rods at 50% off. When owned by E21 they were awful but since this new company took over their Customer Service has gotten better. I can't say anything about warranty service however since I have not broken a rod.

Fishing Cold Fronts
Ok I had my event yesterday and well I didn't weigh in a fish. But the entire field had a tough day with only one limit weighed in. However I did catch a lot of non keeper small mouth and the highlight of the day was a limit of walleye (one being 23") and 9 Yellow Perch (Two being 15"). Almost all bites from my dinks and the ones weighed in came from deep cranking rock pilings and drop shots. The docks and lay downs were dead.

Fishing Cold Fronts
I was wondering the same thing. This front had been here awhile and there's no end in sight yet. I was wondering if this would make them think it's fall and trigger more aggressive bites. I know in the spring it warmed up 20 degrees warmer than average and put the Walleye spawn a month earlier than normal because they got confused.

Fishing Cold Fronts
I have a tournament on Sunday and the water I am fishing is under a pretty big cold front. The temps dropped to highs in the 90s to barley making it into the 60s. This has lasted about 2 weeks and still no sign of a warm up yet. Water temps have fallen from 80 to 74 degrees. The primary target is Smallmouth (though when I prefished I got on some nice largies). Am I better off going deep with finesse or still hit the docks and lay downs?

Leaders through the guides
When I bought the rod I ordered the standard guides but the company was sold out and sent me the micro guide version.

Leaders through the guides
Thank you I am using 40# braid and 25# copoly. I decided to tie straight to braid until I learn the fg knot

Trouble opening Black Max
Instead of unscrewing the thumb screw you have to slide it towards the handle and turn the sidelpate top towards you and it should come right off. Here is a video I found demonstrating it for you. I have never owned a black max but I believe this is the new way the Gen 4 Revos will be attached as well.

Leaders through the guides
when tying on a long leader if you reel the knot through the guides will it damage the guides? I use a double uni knot to attach leaders and my flippin stick has mico guides so the knot sometimes gets stuck on the guides or just sounds bad when passing through.

If you could live anywhere
This is my current living condition except for northern winters. I live 35 minutes from the 4th largest city in Ohio. I am 15 minutes from Lake Erie and Maumee River flows through my back yard (literally). But I would love to live on the St. Johns in Florida. You would be able to drive to Lake Seminole, Kissimee, and Okeechobee

Yes, There are Bull Sharks in rivers
The Shadd Aquarium teaches customers that Bull Sharks have been in Lake Michigan but wouldn't survive more that 5 months in there. Also (not shark related) but in Ohio there was a law stating no one can fish for whales on Sunday to preserve the Lake Erie Whale population so that means at one point there were Whales in Lake Erie so I would say there were probably Sharks in Lake Michigan.

Muskie Trip Blues
When I Musky fish I go to Lake St. Claire, Lake Erie even though the population is dwindling and Lake Superior.

NW Ohio Bass Club
I wanted to make a post about a club I recently joined and can't say enough about them. I recently joined the Cridersville Bass Busters. They are located in Cridersville (Lima Area) and when I contacted them about my interest in joining they welcomed me with open arms. I live 95 minutes from club meetings and make the trip to attend. They fish all over Ohio as well as Indiana and Michigan. Their dues are low $75 and $20 per event. They treat Co Anglers with the same respect they do their boaters. This club is very helpful to everyone and encourage people to ask questions and engage in learning as much as they can. This club is the 2nd oldest affiliated B.A.S.S club in the state. If you are looking for a club to fish and want to fish around people with years of experience, knowledge and skill I would recommend checking them out. I have been apart of multiple clubs but never one as warm and inviting as this one. Oh and your dues will also grant you entry into B.A.S.S Nation events.

Kissing fish
I think there would be more Bass Kissers when its a 6+ lber you catch that just put you in a place to win the Classic or substantial sum of money. But I think if I saw a weekend warrior doing it I would have to fish somewhere else.

Are Microwave guides worth an upcharge?
These are the titanium framed I wasn't aware that they made non titanium guides.

Are Microwave guides worth an upcharge?
So I see paying the upcharge on the spinning rod I'm looking at but not really worth it on a casting rod. Am I right?

Lews Rods/reels?
I live just outside of Toledo myself. with that said if you are in the market for Lews products go up one more exit on 475 and go to Gander Mountain, their prices are cheaper than Janns when it comes to rods and reels. I bought a Mach 2 spinning rod at GM after being talked into them at Janns Just realized how old this post was SMH!

Are Microwave guides worth an upcharge?
A few of the rods I am looking at offer Standard Fuji guides or Microwave guides. However the exact same rod with microwave guides have a $40 upcharge. Are these guides really worth such a high upcharge?

Megabass Vision 110 or Lucky Craft Pointer
Neither one Rapala Shadow Rap for me. But if you want to use a more traditional type jerk than I would say the Strike King KVD Jerkbait.

Smallmouth Bass Fishing - other Fish Impact
Fishing Erie and St Clair as well as their river systems (Detroit River, Maumee River and Ottawa River) this is the truest statement ever. Erie Smallmouth are monsters compared to river smallies but the biggest smallies I ever caught came from Torch Lake and the Grand Traverse Bay up in Traverse City, MI
