  1. There is no particular reason. These are the rods I'm used to using. I have used carrot stix, veritas, and I'm in the past. I don't care if the grip is foam or cork. I don't want to go longer than 7' 3" and I have a mixture between treble and single hook but mostly I have treble hook. OH and Coke
  2. I am starting to add swimbaits into my repertoire more this year. I have the most success using 4-6" baits that are 7/8-1 1/4oz. Reason being is that the bass by me don't grow as big. A 5#er is a trophy in my waters. Anyway I am looking for a rod that is capable of handling the smaller baits. I have it narrowed down to a Abu Garcia Veracity, Veritas, Fenwick HMX, Skeet Reese or Carrot Stix. I am limited to at most $150 which of these would you choose or is there a better rod out. Please no Shimano suggestions.
  3. I thought the "Carrot Stick" was being produced by a different company. I had the ones made by e21that broke just by looking at it cross eyed. The new owner supposed to have stronger blanks and better guides on them. If I was in the market for a new rod the new stix would be on my short list just to give them a try again. I think the reputation they received under e21 has scared everyone away from them entirely.
  4. Your basic 2x4 is SPF, meaning Spruce, Pine and Fir. These are soft wood and would rot and soak in water no matter how much sealer you put on it. I would not use it to make lures.
  5. I seen the Daiwa Arid for sale for $49. I have a gift card to GM and never really shop there.
  6. Anybody have expirience with these reels? I cant find much on the internet. I may be mistaken but I believe it is made by Quantum. The are normally $99 but are on sale for $49. Just looking to see if this is a decent reel.
  7. I only use them when when flipping or punching but they are my second most productive braver behind the Fishog beaver
  8. Ion air pro does the same thing and I like that camera over my go pro for fishing.
  9. This is were I got my Aaron Edge rods
  10. I agree with the OP. I liked the old green Curado and Citica are great but I did not like the Curado I it cast a mile and was nice to hold but I had a problem with the handle such as yourself. I was told at bass pro that it was a defect with the first Curado I that came out that it should be fixed. But looking at all reels I don't see why the new gen Shimano are priced high I feel you pay for the name. The curado has the same specs as a Revo SX, Less Tournament MB, Diawa Tatula and these reels are cheaper. I'm not a Shimano Hater just can't see and understand why the company is put on a pedestal.
  11. I have found the for $90. I bought 4 of them at that price just waiting for them to arrive. Im only hesitant becasue these are such new rods and are already being discounted highly. I like the Phenom seres (the green rods) but the Aaron's Edge Series (Grey rods) seem to have better components. They also all come with a rod sock from the factory. I did a lot of research on these rods and from what I have found they are a great rod for even the $160 they retail.
  12. Thank u I just bought 4 of them at that price.
  13. For a starting point should I try to fish the deep waters next to were they spawned? I heard that don't travel far to make their bed and it seems that they all bed relatively close to eachother.
  14. I am a power fisherman. I've been told I cast almost double the amount of times as most anglers. I enjoy the burning reaction strike. Dragging jig and worms make me bored quickly and I lose focus. I will have to prepare mentally and try finnesse fishing for larger periods of time.
  15. I agree I have not been a fan of the max line but they sell a lot. I like the Orra line and am in love with Revos. The only reel I use over my Revos are Thirteen. I will be the first inline if they do bring the gen 4 revos out.
  16. OK everyone I an in the market for a couple new rods. I am really interested in the Enigma rods. I watched a handful of videos on them and they talked about a $99 Phenom without titanium. They were suppose to be out by now but can't find anything about them. I think I'm going to buy the Phenol and Aaron Martens rod just hoping to get a sale on them before Christmas. what are the reviews on these rods?
  17. Then u haven never fished Erie or Hocking River.
  18. There is a guy that is on AG Prostaff in my club. He told us in our last meeting there are rumors coming from Abu saying that they are discontinuing the Revo and focusing on their lower end Orra and Max lines and their round reels. I don't believe it but it could be possible. He said the only revos will be their spinning line.
  19. Anyone got any news on whether or not Abu is looking to release a 4th gen Revo. Almost my entire lineup is gen 2 Revos. I even have a few gen 3 SX and STX. I was disappointed in the gen 3 eventhough the new ones now seem to be better than when the gen 3 was released. I think Abu needs to release a gen 4 to keep challenging Shimano, Daiwa and Less and Thirteen.
  20. The graphite frame at that price point automatically turned me off. I think this reel will be discontinued quick and the new Citica back down to the $119 price.
  21. I personally HATE shimano. To me the reels are overpriced. However I dislike new Daiwa. The Tatula seemed cheaply made. I only buy three brands when it comes to reels; ****, Lew's or Abu Garcia in that order.
  22. I can catch about 7-10 a day over 3.5#. Last summer I set the pond record at 7# 2oz. That's how I got invited to fish the event. Same pond produced a pond record 21# cat. From what I heard they used to get in a boat and hand feed fish twice a day but haven't in a handful of years. I will try to punch I haven't tried that.
  23. Thanks guys normally catching 2#er wouldnt bother me but they people that own the pond is having a 5 person friendly comp on it in July and as I am "winterizing" my gear I couldnt get the pond out of my head. I wrote down all the suggestions and will try them in the prespawn in the spring.
  24. I was wondering about a chatterbait. I never threw one but I keep hearing great things about them. I had some success swimming a jig down deep so possibly a spinnerbait and chatterbait deep would work.
  25. when you say deep do you mean with a reaction bait or plastics? I never really tried plastics deep.
