  1. My favorite for the very few corks I have now is Dawn with a sponge, well rinsed after scrubbing, and Elmer's Golden Oak wood filler. I sit on a soft seat chair with the handle sticking out in front of me and sand the filler with a long strip of 120 sandpaper like I was shining a shoe.
  2. Just go to Lowe's and buy a pac of larger O rings, which is what I did for the Senkos and I lube the worms with Smelly Jelly to slide them on slick as a whistle. As to if bigger is better I would guess it is a nice option to have on hand.
  3. I do not have switches, so I disconnect just in case. It is a boat, so something can always go wrong when you least expect it.

It is interesting that over the years surveys of bass anglers has revealed that green pumpkin has moved to the top of the most used color.
  5. Don't know if that Q is for me, but I only use Yamaha Ring Free with every fill up since I bought the boat.( .5oz per 5 gallons) per the manual.
  6. Another Chronarch MGL fan here. A really sweeeet reel.
  7. OMG, does that mean that my 10 year old KVD spinnerbait rod won't work anymore?
  8. In my opinion, 14, 15, or 16 will work. I always like to recall that in the days before braid and flouro I fished 14lb mono for every darn thing every where on the tidal Potomac (except 20lb mono for frogs) and did not lose fish because of the line.
  9. My tin had a mild dock problem on the starboard side 6' long with a protruding spike and it was professionally welded, finished, painted, and a new, full length bow to stern G3 decal replaced and is like new. Fortunately my insurance paid the $1000 bill. The guy I found really knew what he was doing.
  10. That motor should burn E10 with no problem what so ever. My Yamaha is 15 years old and does and there has been no fuel line or primer bulb deterioration.
  11. Get under the cockpit with a flash light and look at the back of the tach and there might be a tiny, usually black, plastic screw head sticking out with a flat blade slot in it. With a screw driver twist it back and forth a few times (and remember where you started) and it might fix the problem.
  12. I look at mine as a "wind" shield so I can keep my hat on.
  13. At least on the Potomac they will be near the bank, wood, or rocks and I use large bulky, dark plastics. Sometimes I throw up on the bank and dragging down into the water.
  14. All of mine (to many) go into one plano 3700 with hook caps and organized by color.
  15. No matter what price you pay for a reel I recommend you immediately learn how to take it down, clean and properly lubricate it and you will be surprised how they will last. There some good U Tube vids on how to do this and some poor ones also. Look at all of them you can and you will soon determine who knows what they are doing and who does not. I have always had a Shimano reel and started with their entry level models and they have excellent videos on their web site. I was fortunate when I got into bass fishing 19 years ago when I retired in that I had a good friend who knew how to do this and schooled me. The alternative is pay a reliable service like DVT on this forum to do a minimum of once a year maintenance for you.
  16. As long as you are practicing, learn the "roll" cast off to your side wherein using the weight of your lure for an extra advantage to your cast.
  17. A good buy and I would say that A-Jay on here (AKA Mr. Lund) would be the brain to pick on ideas for your boat. He has mastered a really slick set up on his 18 footer.
  18. They are both out of my league, so I would not have a hint except to say a little more deck space. Others can comment on whether a 21 can handle a 300hp and maybe a 20 cannot, but I do not have a clue.
  19. I changed my TM two years ago on my 17'6" tin boat to a 12V X3 36"MG, 55lb, digital, variable speed run by a 12V Deka 27, 575CCA battery and I can stand on that thing all day and never run out of power. I love the blade design because I can grind through grass and do not end up with grass inside the prop casing. My old MG was miserable in that regard. The Deka goes on a 10amp automatic charger immediately after I get home and has been going strong for three years now. That TM is not expensive at all.
  20. I launch at Leesylvania park and rundown there. I do not go into the submerged wrecks, but do go into the big cove behind them. I fear for my lower unit and prop LOL Catch rate is so so.
  21. Wanted to share with all one of the interesting places I fish on the Tidal Potomac. From where I launch near my home, it is a 15 minute trip down there. https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tripideas/in-mallows-bay-a-ghost-fleet-of-wrecked-ships-is-very-much-alive/ar-AAHA8DM?ocid=spartandhp
  22. Although new, remove the tension cap and you should have a fiber spacer on the inside. If it is not there, that is the problem. They are available from any reel repair service, so contact DVT, a board sponsor and he will fix you up. BTW, there should be another one under the bearing in the removeable reel cover
  23. Debard the hook and they are real easy to back out.
  24. I am also a tin boat guy (17'6") and I upgraded my TM from a 43lb 12V to a 55lb 12V, digital, variable speed on a DEKA 27 battery and fish in a lot of wind on the Potomac. You have to learn to keep the bow into the wind and fish accordingly. I can stand on the TM all day and never lose power. BTW, that TM is not real expensive.
