  1. Heck, I have bags of my favorite plastics marinating in oily fish scents ready to go..
  2. Bass Master Magazine did an angler survey several years ago on the most popular color and green pumpkin was it.
  3. I know those who eat them rave about the quality of the meat and flavor. I will never know because I have orders from the wife to "never bring one of those nasty things home". ?
  4. I clean my own reels and there is nothing different in the quality of the "internals " today from my 15 year old Curados, except variations in brakes systems. My old Citicas had bushings on the drive shaft (easily replaced) as is the case with the new SLX, which is a dream for $99. Reel design/architecture is the key in the variation in performance and the evolution of materials in weight.
  5. My boat has a 60 Yammie (now 18 years old) and the manual on the motor states that the alternator will not begin to charge until the motor is running at 1600 rpms. I run several miles at a time on the river, so the battery stays well charged.
  6. Many years ago when I got into bass fishing I would clean a jig head with alcohol and use either red, green or white nail polish on a jig head. It wasn't long term fix, but it served its purpose at the moment. I rarely us jig heads any more, but do purchase slip sinkers colored, mostly red, black and blue. I just use uncolored for white baits.
  7. No matter if you are in Maryland, or Virginia water, both states require that snake heads must be killed. I keep a weighted small bat in the boat to whack them in the head before I return them for turtle food.
  8. Is there a Chamber of Commerce in the area to call?
  9. Same here on the Invizx. I do not finesse fish, so several of my baitcasters are spooled with Invixz 15lb. I like it because it is only .013" in diameter, which is the diameter some 12lb mono lines. never had a problem with it in the last several years. The 1000yd spools are also a big bucks savings on Amazon and being an old retired tightwad that fits my pocket book.
  10. The SLK and 70 are the same size with the same spool capacities.
  11. My K I believe was $180, but my new SLX for $99 is a real steal. Worked it hard for a day on the Potomac and could not believe its performance for that price. I have since put a bearing in place of the bushing on the drive shaft, but even fishing with the bushing it was smooth as silk. It is basically a Curado 70 in disguise and the spool capacity is identical. I left the Chronarch MGL laying on the deck all day.
  12. I have been reading that using the TM in brackish water will void the warranty. Can this be confirmed yea or nay?
  13. I did get on the river for a day. And SLX was very smooth.
  14. Barbless here for the last 12 years on the tidal Potomac....no lost fish and the deep hooks just turn and lift right out. Trebles have barbs. As stated above, just keep the pressure on.
  15. Ah, the Great Lakes. I fished for king salmon several years ago out of Rogers City with my brother in his 17'6" Tracker V hull and we got caught in "rollers" . I have to find a picture I took as we were in a trough and snapped a pic of the top of a roller off the starboard, which was about 8-10 feet above our heads. What a ride back to the marina.
  16. I have a bracket, which adjusts for length and it has a top "C" clamp with big wing nut and a bottom plate for attaching a transducer, which I believe I found at BPS many years ago to use on rental boats at various lakes. The plate on the bottom is configured in such a way that you could attach any transducer to it. Probably made to attach of the gunnel of small boats and may not reach from your railing down to where it would be under water and not below your pontoons, where it does not need to be.
  17. My Bear trailer with my G3 175 came with the safety chain on it.
  18. If this will help, I have a 17'6" G3 and my TM is a 12 V, MG 55lb Digital 10 speed and I can stand on that thing all day with a 12V size 28 battery with no problem. Go 12V digital for efficiency with a good battery and you can run the TM all day. I am fighting tide and river flow all day also.
  19. I use the same thing on the tidal Potomac that anglers use in nearby Lake Anna, and it is a big lake. I do not fish for cats, but do hook one now and then, as well as a snakehead and no problem.
  20. I had stuck to Yamalube for years until I happened on to a bass boat site and a discussion on 2-stroke oils and there seem to be a lot of really knowledgeable guys on there discussing the science of 2-stroke oil technical information I had never read before. The conversation got around to Pennzoil synthetic and I was surprised at how many of them used it in their big outboards and liked it. I now use Pennzoil XLF in my 350 hour Yammie I learned about from their discussion since it is for higher hour engines and it runs with a lot less smoke. Very reasonable at Walmart. https://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/products/other-oils-fluids-fuel/marine-outdoor-motorcycle-engine-oils/marine-older-engine-synthetic-oil.html#iframe=L3NvcHVzL3Blbm56b2lsLzIwMTZuZXdzbGV0dGVyLz9sb2NhbGU9ZW5fdXM
  21. Are you sure you do not have a short safety chain bolted to the trailer on the vertical frame behind the strap winch and on the end of it should be a hook, which hooks on to the bow hook.
  22. My painted G3 aluminum hull gets a Bass Boat Saver wipe down each outing (nasty Potomac river), but any auto detailer will do the same thing. When the BBS jug is empty though I am going to go to A-Jay's solution, inexpensive and it sounds like it works (leave it to a Coast Guard vet to know about clean hulls?). My Yammie 2-stroke with 350 hours is now 18 years old and I did not keep up with the calcium build up on the lower unit so I called Yamaha and got the paint color code, ordered a can of spray paint from Color Rite and repainted the lower unit and clear coated. Now I am going to do a better job of keeping it spiffy.
  23. I have a diamond in the rough for a frog rod, but did not purchase it for that purpose when I picked it out on sale for $80 at BPS about 12 years ago. It is a 4.2oz, KVD 7' MH, 1/4-1.5oz, 10-25 line rating. He calls it a worm rod, but it sure works well as a frog rod with 50lb Sufix 832 braid.
  24. Kinda hard to discuss line capacity without knowing what reel you have. They are all different.
