  1. I agree with the prop issue. It will make a big difference in the rpms. Call Yamaha with the engine specs and they will tell you what pitch is recommended for that motor. You will find the pitch transcribed on the prop cowling usually.
  2. The tidal Potomac ate my original trailer in just 13 years so bad I could put my hand into the rusted openings in each cross member. The company drilled drain ports just kept getting bigger and bigger. I went to galvanized with a removeable tongue four years ago and it still looks like new (wish I could have afforded aluminum).
  3. I had these on my deck for 15 years, then three years ago mice nibbled through them. They are real rubber and stretch like crazy, never losing their shape. I tried those from TH Marine and did not even get a year out of them before they pulled apart. I found them at Academy thanks to another angler on this site. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/marine-raider-boat-rod-strap#repChildCatid=12992
  4. Are fishing for salmon on downriggers, or just casting?
  5. I have gone to the Lake Fork Frog Hook shown here. With this thing there is no miss if they bite it. Just slip each side over each hook and you will nail them right through the upper lip. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/lake-fork-trophy-lures-frog-tail-hook
  6. I would say you have a winner there. Well done.
  7. If you are going to use one that is the best place for it in my opinion.
  8. For a boat that size an anchor rope is sufficient. Walmart sells anchor ropes.
  9. Don't know if this will help, but when I retired 20 years ago (before braid and flouro were in vogue) and got into bass fishing I has three reels and each was spooled with 14lb mono and I caught lots of bass with a variety of baits and had a good time.
  10. I have had 10lb mono (something cheap) as taped on backing on all of my reels and it has been there since day one for each reel and I can't say I have noticed it has affected my casting in any way, but I am not throwing a mile to my target destination on the Potomac. One of those subjects too many think about.
  11. Don't guess, get all of the details on the boat and go on NADA and see what they price it at.
  12. My black rubber keel roller split open from end to end, so I cut off a lock cap and pulled the shaft out to find it was caked with a ton of rust and decided to replace the shaft with one in stainless steel and found this company, which offers a variety of stainless rod diameters and you can order one custom cut for length. I needed one 8.75 in long and it was only $5.50 plus the shipping you choose. No charge for the tip https://www.onlinemetals.com
  13. In the first instance the Curado 70 is a small reel and of course with that goes considerable less line capacity, They are sweet little reels and various anglers buy them for a variety of reasons. Some like them only for pitching and flipping and others like them for the small size and comfort in using them. I am in that category with both of my XG's spooled with 10lb flouro and used only for plastics fishing. The handles are easily changed to a 96mm if so desired. That said, I also like my Curado I, K (10% smaller than the I), the Chronarch 150 and the MGL. different reels for different techniques.
  14. Same here in that I tube fish on a bait caster with 10lb flouro, Texas rigged, a 3/0 gammie and a 3/16 slip sinker pegged because they all go in the grass (which is finally appearing in the Potomac very, very late). Weeks of muddy water really kicked back the grass growth.
  15. The Curado 200E and the Citica 200E have many interchangeable components. If you can find the drive gear and pinion for a 200E7 you will get a 7.0:1 speed. I have a Citica 200E on which I put a Curado 200 E star drag and look nice. My grandson has two Citica 200E reels in which I put ABEC 7 bearings, carbon tec drag washers and polished the internals and they are really sweet little reels. I also spiffed mine up and just love it.
  16. And I believe Shimano recommends a real heavy grease on the drive gear as in their ACT2 drag grease, and Cal's is the same thing. I use it in my Chronarch MGL.
  17. Unless the Yamamoto site sells them, but I have never seen them before.
  18. Wow? my Carrot Stick is 8 years old and I may have a museum piece.?
  19. I would even know where to begin on what to buy. My Curado 100B's are 14 years old and nothing ever breaks in them. They still function like the day they came out of the box.
  20. Fix that 50E and keep it. They are in demand right now on the net. I have one and grandson has two and they are a sweeetheart of a reel.
  21. My guess is that you did not notice that you had a tiny loop on the line in the spool and it burned through.
  22. In no vis water on the mighty Potomac they will be, as stated above, very close to wood, or rock and close to shore. My school teacher daughter and I caught them last week in such water in only 12" near the shore. We were using 5" dark green pumpkin with large gold fleck worms weightless.
  23. The poor guy has spent a lot of his life in pain and I believe has had more than one back surgery.
  24. I have forever used 17lb XL Mono for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, but just respooled the chatterbait reel with 14lb Sufix Advance. Now all I need is to get a bite on it so I can see how it works.
