  1. Used 8# nanobraid for a few years no knot issues ever. My knot if I remember correctly held to 11 pounds. I dont use leader.
  2. I have different favorite brands based on specific use. Swimbait jig head Trokar Boxer the best Ive used. Fat Ikas Gama Deep throat Wacky senko get Eagle Claw weedless red Ned rigs Trokar tungsten finesse. Honorable mention goes to VMC Fast Grip ewg red for Ikas they seem to last longer slide up hook not tear off rip as easily.
  3. They stay in clam shell til needed
  4. One sought after "standard" for a BFS rod reel is to be able to cast a 1g trout magnet. So the reel needs a very light spool and the rod needs to be able to load that weight. Is there a special design to the rod no its just built with light enough power to accomplish the task. Its like a frog rod a crankbait rod a drop shot rod these all have the same components in general just different attributes for their purpose.
  5. Blank doesnt have to be moderate. To me BFS has a max total lure weight of 1/8oz. So a ned rig is not BFS realm to me.
  6. Can you add some teflon "plumbers" tape around the threads. I did this for my curado 70 with loose tension knob issue.
  7. Some of you are wrongly fixated on the IPT. Couple reasons to have a choice on gear ratio of a certain size spinning reel. If wanting faster retrieve no reason to get a 40 size reel with the added weight and larger size when if you had a choice of gear ratios for your 2500 reel that suits your rod balance and your hand size. Plus going smaller reel 1000 for less IPT can mean less drag power less weight throwing off balance and a reel that is shorter clacking your knuckles depending on hand size. So actually gear ratio choice at specific reel size isnt a clueless endeavor.
  8. One good thing about longer rod is the small fish I always catch feel bigger than with shorter rod.
  9. Go ask peta people what they think about you abusing fish, no matter how you hold the thing, for the sport of it.
  10. St Croix Avid 8' ml/mod 2pc 3.6oz. As unconventional as most would think this is my goto senko rod. Its also a great small swimbait rod. In-line spinners slings those with ease.
  11. SK Rocket Shad for my favorite compact yet some weight(1/2oz) to really sling them out there.
  12. In my experience a high price doesnt mean I will like the rod more. I have NRX 893, GLX, Poison Andrena, Legend Elite, LTB, Kistler H3, Cumara for the high to mid priced range. I would put the Poison Arena as my favorite of those. However the PA isnt my favorite rod I own this distinction goes to my Quantum Smoke 7' M/F yep a $130 rod beats those other $400-$600 rods for enjoyment and overall use. Its lightweight at 3.4oz and has very good balance at that weight. Its taper and lure weight handling lends itself to being very versatile. I throw ned rigs pond magic spinnerbaits to frogs and 3/4oz dark sleepers. The sensitivity is no joke either I feel it hold its own with those above. Ive owned this rod since 2011 used almost every outing its been a workhorse rod with great durability. My PB crappie and PB bass were caught with this rod so that makes it even more special. Top 5 ranking of rods I own Smoke Avid Poison Adrena Okuma Helios NRX
  13. 1" gulp minnows on a tiny jighead works great.
  14. My gen1 Smoke rods are my favorite rods I own. Id give up my nrx adrena sc elite wont give up the Smoke.
  15. ?a slinky a slinky for fun its a wonderful toy?
  16. I tried but the sound my tour s3 and smoke s3 made while casting was just too annoying. Smoke is back in the box in the basement gathering dust.
  17. 8-10 pound braid no leader plenty strong no issues. Dont be fooled by smackdown rated 15# line its thin and not that strong will break like most other 8# 10# lines. I 100% believe wind knots are operator error just based off using 4-6-8 pound braids for decades with nary an issue with wind knots. Braid manages on a spinning reel way better than equally rated fc or mono.
  18. Thats what I'm finding this Roro x spool does very well. Ive been pushing the weight limit of the spool a bit throwing Fat ikas with 8# line. No digging at all no mid cast stoppage fish after fish and the distance is great. Also on the lighter end where digging might show more easily, none so far.
  19. PC and a Fire HD8 tablet
