  1. I think a better word to describe the action is crisp not stiff. The rod does flex well but recovers quickly. I agree with your veritas comparision. I had the 7' Micro MF veritas for all of 2 days then returned it. Now that is stiff no bend it seemed like to me. Two guides were bent some I tried to straighten one and the epoxy cracked. But just from fishing side by side the little bit I did the Smoke was more sensitive, lighter(3.4oz) and the balance with a 5.9oz reel is very good.
  2. I looked-up the lure rating on the spinning Smoke rods and looks like none will work with 1/2-5/8. The ML is Moderate action rated only 1/4-3/16 while the Med Fast is 1/8 to 1/4. I dont know why the big difference between casting spinning. My Smoke Med Fast casting is good to 3/4oz and handles that fine like a daredevil spoon. So though I like my Smoke VERY much dont think it will suit your needs going by the lure ratings.
  3. Paint durability wise which brands are better? I have SK RES and only 5 fish the piant is like half gone. Thinking about just getting a can of chrome paint and touching it up.
  4. Could be you just got some bad ones. I have bought a couple SK Bitsy Minnows that sink they are suppose to float.
  5. Nice catches, and great patience/perseverance on the first one.
  6. Ive only owned 4 and not one met my expectation or hype given to them. Nothing wrong with my 50E just not any better tossing lighter lures than my other casters I get same distances pretty much. With the hype given to it I though I would get noticeably further that just isnt so.
  7. This year only twice (13hrs total) have I went to lakes other than my "home" lake. There are 6 lakes close but just go to the closest.
  8. Yep working now Thanks
  9. There is the "Likes" feature and wanting to know if mine is on/off working or not? Ive been giving likes and have received them. In "My Profile" on the left is Likes in the menu so I click on that and see green bar and inside bar is-- Forums Calendar Given Received I click on Given and get statement "There is no content to display". I click on Received and get a listing of the post and the person that gave the Like. So my question is why am I not seeing my Likes given? Should I be able to?
  10. My favorite rod is Moderate action as well. I passed on the sale LTB 7' MED MOD casting rod a few months ago and still regret it.
  11. If inshore rod is something you may be interested in look over at the St Croix website. They have their Legend Inshore rods HALF-PRICE $150--$165..Ive neved use that model so look for input on them but its a good deal. Here are the ratings on them. http://www.stcroixrods.com/shop/catalog/Saltwater-24-1.html# Legend Inshore Spinning Rod Specifications Model Length Power Action Line Weight Lure Weight Rod Weight (Oz.) LIS70MLF 7' 0" Med. Light Fast 6-12 1/8-1/2 3.7 LIS70MF 7' 0" Medium Fast 8-17 3/8-3/4 4.2 LIS70MHF 7' 0" Med. Heavy Fast 10-20 1/2-1 1/4 4.7 LIS76MLF 7' 6" Med. 12. 20-30 minutes Ill try another if I have different ones with me. To just challenge myself at times I will go out with only one type of lure and nothing else. One day only crank, another day only spinnerbait, only jigs and so forth. I did this just last week with lipless crank thats all I took one 1/2oz blue chrome. Only 2 small bass and one very nice 16" crappie agreed with me but its how I make an outing different.
  13. My foray into mid level reels hasnt lived up to my expectations or the hype of them (stradic,50E). I have lesser priced reels that perform just as well and with less issues over years of use. For this reason Im hesitant to purchase that level again when my $60-$70 reels are holding their own. It would take a good deal say 50% off for me to consider a $200 reel in the brands I have. My better rods though $150-$340 have all been very good to excellent and continue to please me more the more I use them. I toss a President on my Elite without a second thought and the combo works great for me. Sensitivity wise something that doesnt get mentioned hardly at all is the "Feel of the fight" once the fish is on. With a nicer more sensitive rod the play, the feel of the fish pulling, twisting, going up, down, rolling, shaking almost feeling the muscle of the fish is what I very much like of my better rods. I dont get this feedback with my lesser rods. So I feel money towards a better rod is the way to go.
  14. WHOA!! My back hurts just looking at you holding it.
  15. The saying "Match the hatch" seems rather appropriate.
  16. I bought the RWBB back in July but havent used it yet. The hooks on it are quite sharp better than my Kopper, Spro, Scum frogs. I have a few spots that those birds always dive at me in the spring time. They are in cattails and this will be my taget area for it. Im not sure about trying it right now cause the pike are out and dont think it will hold-up to them nor do I want to lose it. I did weight it and it weighs .544ozs
  17. There is another thread about "how often should I re-tie" and some in there a few think nothing about retying after 3-4 fish, sometimes retie after few minutes, every fish. Say the same about this line though and its like a huge negative after 3-5 fish. The most Ive went is around 14 bass before a retie those were only 12"-15" size but with very thin 6# nano. Also I think some people might try this line thinking its like a braid and fish it the say way as they do braid but its not a superline. It is not underrated like braid-PP, co-poly-YZUS its rating is true in that 6# line thats the strength you are getting 6#. With the no stretch and truer line rating it has to be fished differently. On the distance wiith baitcasters Skeet Reese did a distance test with 12# nano and 10#Spider fluoro, 1oz cranks and was like 8 yds farther with Nano. Trying to find that article/video.
  18. I dont know about it but its on sale at TW for $130 fyi.
  19. Yes I agree its not an all around line but has certain areas were it shines. Like with nightcrawlers no weight or say tiny cranks like bitsy minnows. Where I differ is that I very much like to drag a senko on the bottom with it. Had one of my most productive outings this way. The bottom basically just weeds very little rocks or timber.
  20. I know for a fact Ive caught fish with Nano that I wouldnt have had a chance at with my YZHUS. Reason, I get much more distance with Nano using a senko. I dont think Nano is the best line but it serves a purpose for me and has traits that I find value in and I value it moreso than YZ.
  21. Why didnt your drag let some line out before your rod getting bent all the way to the water? Reasons I use it are-Line management, Great sensitivity (better than braid), casting distance. Have a good knot now and havent had a break-off. It found a home on my Croix Elite and when I do switch to like PPS8S there sure is a difference in feedback
  22. If split-grip is something you prefer Cabelas does offer the Premier in split-grip version. They go only to 7' Medium Fast 1/4-5/8 lure, 6-12 line, 3.9oz. My own preferance would be Med over Med Hvy just cause Med Hvy is a pretty stout rod I have 6'6" Med Hvy Premier spinning. If you are not in a lot of thick cover Medium may suit you. I have a Medium power St Croix but its an Elite it has some backbone for a medium. http://www.cabelas.com/product/St-Croix-Premier-Split-Grip-Spinning-Rods/1156608.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dst%2Bcroix%2Bpremier%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=st+croix+premier&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
  23. Week, week and a half, it got very pale murky green but now cleared-up some still not as clear as normal yet, see usually 12'-15' or so now 8'-10' its only a 26acre lake though.
  24. Thanks guys Yes turnover has happened couple weeks ago.
