Dont know the test Darren referring to with the Performance Braid but 20# and below is 4 carrier, above that 6. So when comparing 40# to 40# you compare a 4 carrier PP to 6 carrier PB. I have 20# in PP and PB, so 4 vs 4, by far PB is noisier. On one certain set-up SC Premier rod and supremeXT reel it PB was awful and had to switch line.

What you plan on using the rod for? Were you wanting the Moderate specifically? I have 2 of the 705F rods. With you mentioning about it being faster than your Prodigy and Expert is this where how it bends down the rod or how quickly it rebounds from being deflected? Im feeling its with how quickly it rebounds I think of this as being a crisp feel more than an action (dont know if there is technical term for it). The rod isnt what I'd call extra-fast action. The rod flexes down the blank like a fast action its just once the force is removed it goes straight,quickly, and doesnt wiggle so to speak. My take is this crisp response lends to better sensitivity. Being biased towards the M/F and not having used the Mod rod I think you mistakenly got sent the better action And yes no love for the smoke but its their loss. Oh your rod have the hook keeper on the front of the handle or between the split grip? My first one, bough a few years ago, its up front. On the one I recently got its been moved between the grips.

7' Medium Fast works great with senkos, rod is rated 1/4-3/4 which is most other rods MH ratings. Ive had this exact rod since 2011 and purchased another from that TW sale. Very light at 3.4ounces and balances well with reel down to 5.5ounces. I have a Core50 and Chronarch CI4 on mine both have very good feel in hand. For the "and such" get you some Fat Ikas with your order the rod works great with those as well.

Used my smoke rod as my main bc rod for a few years now its held up very well. I bought another during that sale. Feels very good in hand with like you mention very light weight and well balanced even with light bc reels. Hope it does well for you too.

Yeah thats a lot of line out I dont follow that suggestion much myself.

Do you put enough line out for your anchor to grab the bottom? There is a suggested ratio for line out to depth of water, something like 8:1. 8 feet of line for every foot of water depth. So 10 feet of water you should have 80 feet of line out.

Shimano says for hard line like fluorocarbon/mono to have the line lay more towards the top of the spool and taper down. This minimizes backlash they say.

To mention more about the LTB like Goose has about the lower range The LTB 6'9" ML/XF casting I feel doesnt work all that well with say a small crank like Bitsy Minnow that weighs .0823 ounces. It doesnt load in the tip well and distance control suffers for me. Yeah the BM is under the LTB load rating but I do better with a 7' M/F Smoke rod thats only rated down to 1/4. Im not recommending the smoke just comparing my personal findings of the LTB weakness at the lighter end.

I would like to try out the Quantum Tour MG reel. The braking system I think like that of the Helios is not my fav though.
